Evgenia Medvedeva

Well, according to Maya's words, Zhenya seemed very small personally and is working very hard.

Really very sad, I know how this will end.

After watch the SP of 1 stage of cup .. I think maybe zhenya should have gone ... even with falls she would medal probably .. Anybody knows if she is going to the 2 stage?
They will give her high scores to convince her to stay at Sambo next season. I hope she doesn't fall into their trap.

She should skip this season.

She said small as in height. Zhenya is 158cm tall, that is tiny. Zhenya always seems extremy tall because her upper body is tiny compared to her long legs.

Maybe have some faith. Of course the situation is not ideal, however, I think due to the current circumstances this is the best option for Zhenya's overall future. Changing to a complete different coach with a complete different technique in the middle of the season would have ended in a even bigger disaster in my opinion.

But EG is a complete different coach than Brian with a complete different technique.

And the worst physical and psychological option for Zhenya.

Zhenya is familiar with Eteri's technique. She knows what to expect from her. We all know how hard it was for Zhenya to get used to Brian's technique, changing to a coach who also has a different technique than Brian and Eteri, someone she does not know, in the middle of the season when she has competitions in a few weeks, would have been a recipe of a disaster. Canada's borders are closed. She cannot return to Brian, as much as she wants to. There are talks that the borders will be even closed until Spring 2021 and even if they sometime open I do not think Zhenya can return there, not as a competetive skater, maybe afterwards. The president of the Russian Federation and many other big names in Russian skating world have said that they never wanted Zhenya to go to Canada, they wanted her home for a long time, I doubt they will let her go a second time. Let's face reality.

she won't skip at this point .. for skipping this season she would continue with brian

Can we leave that funeral atmosphere? no one has died here. Things happened like this, period. It remains to look forward. High performance athletes have a different mentality than normal people, I'm sure that Zhenya went through a time of great pressure and anguish, but her mind can cope with it, because that is the type of athlete that she has proven to be in all this years.

I thank the Orser-Tracy team for everything they gave Zhenya, it was not in vain. When you do a university exchange you learn much more than formal classes: Zhenya got to know a different environment, she learned to communicate in a new language, a new culture, her 2A improved in height and distance, her SS did too, she was also 2 years old to heal her old physical wounds and rest her back.

I don't think Zhenya was completely kidnapped, the politicking is obvious, but I think there was at least negotiation.

Is not favorable for Zhenya to do that tv show with Alina right now, maybe in the future (both, without Yagudin hahah) a, since both girls have never said bad things to each other and they have always followed each other on social media. Now, unfortunately the fans would cause an absurd war; It was enough for me to look at the comments on Eteri's last post, practically saying that the "favorite" had returned and that poor Alina would be abandoned, thanks to the life that Eteri closed the comments this time. Zhenya needs calm.

We support you, Zhenya, please go ahead, take care of your health and do not be discouraged, remember that you are loved by the majority 🥰

Some posts in here are so sad. At the end of the day, Zhenya is an adult and seems like she made the best decision for herself with the options in front of her. It's not an ideal situation. Personally, I have no respect for Eteri. However, this isn't my life or career, I'm simply a fan. I'm first and foremost glad she has a coach right now, because I actually don't think it could possibly get worse than not having a coach or icetime. She's never been in as bad form as she was at Test Skates-- injured, lowest tech content ever, stamina issues, not rotating jumps, timing gone. She HAD to do SOMETHING. The situation was dire.

Unfortunately, going back to Eteri must have been the least complicated, and least bad option--- which tells you a lot about the other options she must've had. Zhenya is a grown woman and I doubt she will let that woman just walk all over her. I'm sure there's some resolution to the issues they had, though I will never personally forgive or like Eteri. All we can do as supporters is wish for her wellbeing and happiness. Her methods may be questionable, but Eteri is a great coach, and Zhenya is a great athlete, so I hope Zhenya gets everything she wants/needs out of her current arrangement. I'll always support her and want the best for her :)

Thank you, this is a very nice post.

We don't have to be all doom and gloom! I completely understand most of the concerns in here, but why can't we be optimistic too? We've discussed worst case scenarios, why not discuss best case scenarios, too?

I actually enjoyed Lilbet's raw skating when she moved from Brian back to Eteri. I'm looking forward to see how Eteri raises Zhenya's polish/detail/sophistication again. I think that's one thing she lacked a bit with Brian. Obviously, my number one wish is that everything happens safely and without injury, but if the 4S is ever going to happen, I think the combo of Eteri and Zhenya will be the partnership that wills it to happen. Hopefully this means we'll get another Averbukh program, too! Exogenesis was perfect, and Ilya made many great pieces for Zhenya even when she was with Eteri before, so another collaboration with those two (even under Eteri) could be magical! This may be strange but politically and commercially, this also benefits Zhenya. She truly has the most interesting story of all Russian girls, probably all figure skaters in general, ever. Zhenya's future docu-series about her career is going to be so juicy, full of plot twists ;)
