Could be based on who their favourite skaters were from past years, which skaters were in the news, and which skaters they missed watching live, or which ones they want to rewatch.I'm frustrated by this SPb "secret" (thirsty for skating!), so I drifted back to YouTube to rewatch programs from the Test Skates. Channel One has posted each performance as an individual clip. (Cheers to Channel One).
I love this forum, and I really enjoyed everyone's personal hot take on ranking the performances in the absence of panel judging. But while I was rewatching the short programs, I wondered, what about the "wisdom of the crowd" as a judging metric?
As of now, (considering short programs only, as two ladies missed lp) the popular vote standings are:
Kostornaia 290k views
Trusova. 240k
Valieva. 236k
Medvedeva. 211k
Shcherbakova. 149k
Tuktamysheva. 110k
Samodurova. 47k
Not what I was expecting.
The views for Alena's SP went up a lot after her WD from the Free Skate, before that Sasha's was the leading oneI'm frustrated by this SPb "secret" (thirsty for skating!), so I drifted back to YouTube to rewatch programs from the Test Skates. Kostornaya and Trusova with the coach change curiosity boost, and otherwise it's a pretty normal order.I'm frustrated by this SPb "secret" (thirsty for skating!), so I drifted back to YouTube to rewatch programs from the Test Skates. Shcherbakova with twice as less views as Valieva? It doesn't seem normal to me!Kostornaya and Trusova with the coach change curiosity boost, and otherwise it's a pretty normal order.
While Anna has been quiet for the past few months, there have been countless media reports and discussions about Kamila, who was placed in a prominent position by TT for the test skates and thus clearly chosen as a future star. The particular interest is therefore not surprising.Shcherbakova with twice as less views as Valieva? It doesn't seem normal to me!
Valieva's been getting a ton of views, though. Her JGPF free skate got 320k for example. She had several skates with over 100k in just some random locals. There's also the thing with Valieva being in senior test skates 1 year sooner than she should.Shcherbakova with twice as less views as Valieva? It doesn't seem normal to me!
As for Sasha and Aliona, that's right. Everyone needs to know that Plushy needs to be taken seriouslyShcherbakova with twice as less views as Valieva? It doesn't seem normal to me!
Yes coaching confidence are crucial 4 TT skaters.I wouldn't say SS, rather the confidence (again true for all Eteri girls) and consistency and tech content (that people glaze over for a requirement that rockets you in the eyes of the judges).
Yeah, I think you're definitely forgetting someone here. Namely, Alina Zagitova.Yes coaching confidence are crucial 4 TT skaters.
But I've never seen a turnaround like Alionas. Going from 17th at Junior Russian Nationals under her former team and I'm moving the TT and a few months later being 3rd at senior Russian Nationals it's something I've never seen in figure skating. It's the most spectacular turn around I've ever seen. You hit on the key point. Confidence from the coaches.
And what about Sofia Titova? Wasn't it a similar flight up the ladder (as for her age, of course, and acknowledging we don't know what happens to her next)? But I've never seen a turnaround like Alionas. Who is Sasha Titova? And what about Sasha Titova? Wasn't it a similar flight up the ladder (as for her age, of course, and acknowledging we don't know what happens to her next)?
Sasha or Sofia. Who cares?Who is Sasha Titova?
Sofia Titova? Well, she was a high-end skater for her age, and still is one. Out of the 2009s I think that the best skater's Liubov Rubtsova regardless of the results at nationals. She's essentially an upgraded Trusova. And what about Sasha Titova? Wasn't it a similar flight up the ladder (as for her age, of course, and acknowledging we don't know what happens to her next)?
Sofia Titova, of course, thanks! Edited. You see, I still keep thinking about SashaWho is Sasha Titova?
Of course I realized that after I posted my post and left the house. That is one of the great turnarounds ever as well with EG and Alina. Remember she was going to bounce Alina out of TT and changed her mind at the last second. The rest is history.Yeah, I think you're definitely forgetting someone here. Namely, Alina Zagitova.
It's much too soon to tell. The turnaround has to take place on the highest level of all. Seniors. And what about Sofia Titova? Wasn't it a similar flight up the ladder (as for her age, of course, and acknowledging we don't know what happens to her next)?
I agree with every word.In an interview, Aliona acknowledged this, directly and specifically, when she said that people were telling her that she was unexceptional, that she had reached her peak and that she would never be top flight, but then EG agreed to take her in and that vote of confidence changed her completely. It is plain to see, from her reactions in the K&C with TT. She doesn't hide what she thinks about her marks, but what she looks for (sometimes with almost poignant desperation) is the approval of her coaches.
