Does anyone know the name of the Zhilina sisters' mother? I'm curious about her skating background. Is she from Arkhangelsk originally or just moved there later?

Thanks! I knew Lyudmila Alferova is now a coach at AoP, but didn't know she is the sisters' mother. Do married women usually keep their original surnames or take their husband's surname in Russia?Lyudmila Zhilina.
Плющенко показал тройной аксель своей воспитанницы
Тренер сборной России, олимпийский чемпион Евгений Плющенко показал результаты своих первых тренировок на льду после открытия федеральных баз подготовки спортсменов. Спортсмены...m.sportsdaily.ru
First competition for Evgenia Medvedeva after her unbelieveable comeback to Eteri Tutberidze,
first competition for Alexandra Trusova after her loud transfer to Evgenyi Plushenko,
debut on senior ice of the most talented Kamila Valieva.
Flawless beauty, most difficult elements and colossal tension...
Season of fierce rivalry, not only for skaters but coaches as well.
Carefully! They heated up the ice so much, you can burn yourself!
Hot Ice, live 10-11 October on '1'!!!
According to this her name is Lyudmila Nikolaevna Alferova. Thanks! I knew Lyudmila Alferova is now a coach at AoP, but didn't know she is the sisters' mother. Do married women usually keep their original surnames or take their husband's surname in Russia?
I think that the point here isn't to suggest that Daria will be like that, only to point out that a positive assessment of an environment is not necessarily an indicator that it wasn't abusive. Many students say good things about abusive coaches in all sports so without more information which we do not have we cannot make informed opinions about the environment (and therefore, we probably shouldn't make any at all)It's not the first time when someone comes with that, actually. Whenever skaters like Polina, Daria etc. made a positive mention of Eteri, there is always someone like you who rushes with the explanation how we should look on it from the "right angle".
BTW I've some knowledge of victimology regardless, so it's not an unknown phenomenon to me, but making those assumptions specially in this case and not anywhere else is just purposive here and witness more about those who make them than about the state of thigs.
Stanislava posted a short clip of one of her programs to Seven Nation Army (video is third on the reel)

She talked about it a while ago. She basically said, it can be a good athlete, but sometimes she can feel that it won’t work out, so she would reject them (it wasn’t about Zhilina, just in general).Youngest ever? Never could figure out why Eteri didn't take both sisters-both are talented.
Huh, I guess I didn't realize their family was split up like that. So I'm guessing the girls' dad was in Moscow with Veronika while their mom and Alena were back in Arkhangelsk? She talked about it a while ago. She basically said, it can be a good athlete, but sometimes she can feel that it won’t work out, so she would reject them (it wasn’t about Zhilina, just in general).
Also, looks like Plushenko has made a pretty sweet offer, which is really impossible to reject: mom gets a job in Moscow, so the family can finally reunite, work with the same coach for Veronika continues, while both sisters train together, so she can both work and see them train at the same time -> pretty much no parent can say no to that, especially considering the long distance that they used to do, and that Eteri wasn’t going to offer her a coaching job + Veronika got a sponsorship on top of everything.
I think it’s safe to say, Plushenko actually made a big favor for their family, it’s a really good help and improves their situation a ton. Smart move on his part too: he gets a good coach, and two talented skaters.
I think the biggest issue is people trying to paint Eteri as an angel or a demon, when really she is neither. She is a successful figure skating coach who has some controversial methods.
Parents and children can decide if her approach suits them or not and then decide whether to stay or go, nobody is held there against their will.
If they choose to stay, good for them.
If they choose to leave, good for them.
If they choose to never come in the first place, good for them.
The money and sponsorship promises mattered more to their parents ... too bad the federation lost female skaters who would have been eligible for the 2026 national team.¿El más joven de todos? Nunca pude entender por qué Eteri no se llevó a ambas hermanas, ambas son talentosas.
What makes this thread unreadable is the constant gaslighting from people like you wherein the lack of 100% unfailing endorsement of a person is a mark against said person’s character and makes all those who don’t fall lockstep behind certain figures the enemy hellbent on destruction of the person. Your lack of nuance and discernment is noted but that isn’t going to prevent me from finding both good and bad in all coaching camps across Russia, and in other countries, including Dear Eteri Georgevina.Someone expresses a negative opinion about that "environment" -> reaction: this is not the fanfest therefore negative opinions are completely OK.
Someone expresses a positive opinion or quotes postitive mention of somebody else -> reaction: that actually doesn't prove anything... they can be victims... unhealthy... martyr complex... blahblah... actually we shouldn't make opinions about the environment at all...
I like how this "is not necessarily an indicator that it wasn't abusive" and all the countless variants of the reactions to anything positive about Eteri's team actually very imperfectly try to hide the deep down faith it actually is abusive. Not interested in twisted logic. I am really curious if there will be a case when someone would make here a positive comment or quotes of positive comment (of a current or former athlete) about Eteri's team work and "environment" without twenty hornets immediately stinging, twisting everything into the exact opposite and then blaming people for "being defensive".
I already told you, go and settle a thread where you can release your fantasy about the abusiveness of the Eteri's team (and exclusively her team, positive comments about iother teams never face a fraction of aggressivity those ones do) off the chain. This very badly hidden hate truly makes this thread unreadable sometimes.
Yes, I agree we will never know what goes on behind the scenes in these training groups. To me i've always thought we don't have enough information to judge what goes behind the curtain, outside the state propaganda where they paint all coaches as second mother basically, or the hate channels where it's all wrong and bad no matter what.
Mie Hamada was allegedly a very abusive coach, to the point Nobunari Oda sued her (in Russia wouldn't be allowed anyway) but on camera she always looked a charming figure. You never know.
I think only the people who worked with her know how it is to train there every day, how sustainable in the long term. So is she an angel or a demon? we don't know, we can only discuss what these skaters put on the ice, whether we like it or not.
For instance Anna Tsareva has always looked a very strict person, but i've to say i liked the work with Pogorilaya, and i'm liking what she is doing now with Zakharova.
I used to think Anya was unnaturally skinny however her growth in the off-season makes me think this is just her natural figure. She seems quite healthy, at least in outward appearance.Anna is scary skinny. She looks naturally skinny taken one step further. Hopefully that is not the case. I mustn't be the only one who thinks this way.
Alina said to "keep your mouth shut" towards food. They shouldn't be saying things that make their coach look bad in public, but they must be thinking about it in an unhealthy way for it to come out that way.

On nutrition: We are weighed and watched. We don't have a complete exclusion of sweet things. Of course, trainers know that I don't eat only salads. In general, I think they know what I eat - at competitions we often go out to eat together. There are no cruel restrictions.
I have never been severely restricted in food. There is no food that I cannot eat. There are restrictions that you can't, for example, a lot of sweets. But there is no complete prohibition, so that there is no such thing that when they were allowed, you break down and eat everything at once.
Allowed by whom? I live in Russia for 50 years and this is the first time I hear that I need some kind of permition to sue somebody. You know so much about Russia, how long did you live there?Nobunari Oda sued her (in Russia wouldn't be allowed anyway)
