This move is not new for Kamila.
The thing is that it wasnt in the programm shown at test skates and it suddenly gets added after zhenya showed it in her programm. Thats what many dont like at the moment. If they had it in there from the beinning no ine would have said anything. But it is suspicious that it gets added after another skater has shown it

I feel ashamed asking this but what time is it starting tonight/today guys???
17:25 Moscow time

I was also going to say new in this program, but didn't want to create more drama.

For what I understand, people sound as if they want special treatment on a skater despite their mistakes?
Lol. No. They want the exact opposites, usually. The problem is that currently, only a few selected skaters get this kind of special treatment. How many times does it need to be repeated? In isolation, Sasha‘s score is fine - it is fair (actually even a bit overscored). The problem lies with the scores of the others, mainly Tutberidze girls, Kamila and Daria and at the other event, Anna.

Sasha deserved the lower GOE for her spins, she deserved that ! call on her flip. At the same time, Daria and Kamila had mistakes too, NONE of which were called. There was no ! call for Daria‘s lutz, no reduced GOE for the weird rhythm and change of landing edge in Kamila‘s combo. At the last event, Anna got sky high GOE for a combination with a possible UR, scratchy landing and obvious edge issues on the lutz.

We all know domestic scores are usually inflated through the roof. In Russia, the US, even the smaller feds (well not so much in Japan). So the issue is not really about correct scoring, which is not to be expected at domestic events, it is about CONSISTENT calling. Meaning - you call EVERYONE‘s mistakes equally, no matter who they‘re coached by or how many medals they have won in the past. And I do realise that reputation judging was always a thing but in the past, they at least tried (with a few exceptions) to make their preferences a little more subtle.

THIS is the problem. If they called everyone consistently and didn‘t turn a blind eye to Tutberidze skaters, we would not be having this discussion. Kamila and Daria would still lead and rightly so, but the difference would be smaller and much more accurate of reality.

.

Oh, so Medvedeva copied Valieva
Honestly, I was not implying that at all. It's a cool move, Evgenia and her choreographer got inspired and put into her program. Daniil, Eteri or whoever probably found it also cool after they saw it and added it to Kamilas, who is already familiar with the move, since she has done it a couple of years ago. It's not like Med is inventing those transitions and hasn't done stuff that has been introduced by others: cart wheel, hydroblade etc. Is it bad? Not really, those are super interesting things that stand out from all the leg-grabbings, twizzles and other stuff. So, let the skaters do them!

Well the hype was pretty ridiculous. I remember when back after 2018 junior worlds when she landed 2 quads that this was some accomplishment that was never going to be equaled, then she was supposed to be jumping 5 quads per program, learn 4Axel, outjump the boys etc. so I think she indeed has not lived up to the hype. That's of course not exactly a fault of her but moreso the fault of there being way too much hype for her at the time. She must have suffered mentally from the need to meet these expectations, which probably lead to her poor last season.
Wow you're a super tough critic.

Sasha is Debut senior season was poor? That's quite debatable actually. It wasn't as great as she thought it was going to be because her two teammates were a little less mistake-prone than Sasha was. Sure the height for her and what she was doing was over the top. I hope she has learned tunnel vision and how to focus and not be consumed by media or hype. But it's probably hard for Sasha because she knows if she emails her free skate her score is going to be massive. She's not quite my favorite of the Russian girls but I don't want to see her crying either like at Russian Nationals last year.

Sasha took the sport by storm and took it in a New Direction with all her quads and now she's added a triple axel. That is both interesting and phenomenal.

We had a similar discussion last year during Russian Nationals or Europeans - sorry, I don't remember the exact competition. But we all were again arguing how Anna got hammered despite her super clean and hard SP and then in the FP Aliona got a slightly inflated score despite sloppy StepSeq. At that time the girls were under the same coaching team but the situation was similar as the one yesterday? Where exactly is the Tutberidze bonus? I know, I know... its a more convenient argument since Sasha now changed the team and we can blame all her problems on Eteri..
