Also in the lesser competitions one can watch on the YT, figure skating is indeed a popular sport for kids and more coverage, will result in more participants, more and better results.

Re most of these young skaters are so small and powerful they are indeed like whirlwinds.

What determines who receives the invitations? The Russian Cup seems more like sectional event vs regionals event. So are there regional competitions, and the best competitors from these regional competitions are then invited to the Cup of Russia?
