MOSCOW, October 29. / TASS /. The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin is opposed to the introduction of a contract system between athletes and coaches. He stated this at a press conference at TASS.

In figure skating, the introduction of a system of contracts between athletes and coaches was discussed.

" We have a culture of relations, I would not translate all this into legal language, " Matytsin said. " Otherwise, we will come to the conclusion that the contract will specify how many hours the coach should pay attention to a student, whether he can enter his room and whether he should give him instructions. "

The Minister believes that such an experience can lead to a loss of trust between student and coach. " The world is developing, I am not against the formalisation of relations, but this can lead to a loss of trust. A wealth of experience has been accumulated in domestic sports, there is a culture that needs to be strengthened, " he said.

" It's like switching to the introduction of contracts between a child and a parent. The child may not agree with the parent, but this is not a reason to go to a lawyer and sort things out. Otherwise, the essence of personality-forming sports will be lost. If people trust, respect each other and feel as members of a single family, it is possible not only to win medals, but also to form a comfortable environment and sustainable development of our state, " he added.

He was supported by the chairman of the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia, two-time Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva and the President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Yelena Vyalbe. "We must find a common language and understand each other without a piece of paper," said Vyalbe.

Hey, Langer also several times called Gleichenhaus Dudakov  (though he at least recognizes Plushenko and Volkov).
Dudakov and Gleichenhaus are more famous and different from each other nowadays compared to Pluschenko and Volkov.

...though Pluschenko is really working hard for people to know/recognize him nowadays too, for better or for worse. (of course it's annoyingly for worse with all the unnecessary banter he's been giving). :laugh2::laugh2:

Kseniya Sinitsyna is recovering: Ксения Синицына возобновила тренировки после травмы

" I'm slowly starting to train and recover, " Sinitsyna told over the phone.

When asked about the hope of an early participation in the competition: " I hope so, I really want (to start in the coming tournaments)."

She told it is possible she will participate even in one of the remaining stages of the Russian Cup and, accordingly, the National Championships. " I think there is a chance ".

----

When going by ranking points, is this even possible, AFAIK the rules state you need to participate in two stages? Or let FFKKR just add a third flight to the Nationals.

Entries for GP Rostelecom are complete.

No more Russian girls added, instead we have Galustyan, Ryabova, Safonova, Kiibus and Urushadze as non-Russian entries.

The Russian ladies will be: Gulyakova, Kostornaia, Medvedeva, Samodurova, Shcherbakova, Trusova and Tuktamysheva.

So no Sinitsyna :( (What's up with her? I'm getting worried.)

And will Medvedeva be ready to compete? I guess we'll see if she turns up at Stage Four in a couple of weeks.
Good news for you, Ksenia started training again little by little recently, so seems like she recovered from her injury. Says she might even make it to the last stage of ruscap, but isn’t making any promises regarding competitions.

Only admitted to the competition with a passed coronavirus test not older than 72 hours. Does this indicate more serious worries over the health of the athletes?

Still only 12 contestants, so where to fit in Sinitsyna and/or Medvyedeva if they want to qualify?

Anyway, this is the proposed list in the seniors: https://fsrussia.ru/files/docs/competitons/2021/4etap2021_participants_MS.pdf

Nugumanova and Shulskaya both need to compete really well in order not to drop below 18th rank

Plyushchenko's A team vs B team will obviously the most followed. Kostornaya still listed as a Sambo-70 skater ...

And hopefully increased fitness and quality of execution after a couple more weeks of serious training in some contestants.

14 year old Maya against 17 year old Samodurova and 20 year old Konstantinova, this could also be very interesting. And one shouldn't rule Shulskaya out

I'm guessing Maya for bronze. 💪

And let's hope Alyona is in a good form so that we get a proper fight for gold and maybe even some drama

Bit off topic, but the pairs here look damn interesting :coffee:

If she skates clean, I guess Maiia should be above the other two I mentioned (plus Shulskaya), but the problem is her consistency. She needs to be at least as clean as she was at junior worlds.

Sorry, trivial question coming. Where can I find info about the upcoming stage of the Russian Cup? I checked the National Events subforum and there was nothing there. I never watched Russian Cup before this fall and can't read Russian, so I don't even know when stage four begins...

so there are 3 teams in the same academy because the top skaters want to train separately.
I understand now why Plushy is hungry for money. It costs a lot to satisfy everybody’s wishes.
Yes, and he has to economise already. Finding a capable seamstress for Trusova for instance, the Northern Lights dress in the short program (actually representing a woodnymph or elf IIRC) was not the best fitting in motion and seemed uncomfortable on Aleksandra.

His position is not to be envied, that's for sure. I have come across some well written blog postings on this. His fighting character might have helped him enormously in his illustrious career, but now perhaps seems a hindrance when subtle decisions have to be made.

Lots of learning moments also, when you have an open mind and learn from your mistakes, just like any other trainer had to do during their career.

Didn't need to skate clean or to land the quad at the last cup event to somehow still grab a medal.

I think she'll get it regardless.
But last time, it was her vs Frolova for the silver and who won? Frolova. This time its Khromykh vs. Konstantinova and Samodurova. Last stage, it was Khromykh is clean, she gets silver, Khromykh falls, she gets bronze, this stage it's Khromykh is clean, she gets bronze, Khromykh falls, those chances are gone. (Though, again, Konstantinova and Samodurova are a little inconsistent so she could probably make a mistake or two and still snatch the bronze).

Let's hope Samodurova will have a good competition, she needs a morale boost.

But without ultra-si, it will be difficult for her to break into the top.

Same for Gulyakova.

Stage 4 starts next week (nov. 8-12).

There should be more info posted here (sywwfs) when we get closer to the date of the event.

Isn’t it pretty normal to have many separate teams at the same rink? Even at the Sambo there is Eteri and her people, Safonova’s coach, Tsareva, Chetverukhin etc and they’re not all training together. Seems to me they call the rink Plushenko’s academy but it operates no differently than any other rink. Who cares?

Top skaters at the same rink not wanting to train together has happened before and doesn’t necessarily indicate some big drama.

I also think it’s great that they respect the skater’s wishes at the academy to not be photographed while training just for publicity. Like so what if a skater doesn’t want to be photographed, that doesn’t impact my training of them in any way. If anything I should be more focused on doing my job and preparing them rather than taking pictures.

I definitely don't see Maiia off the podium.
Konstantinova and Samodurova are even more inconsistent than her, and she has better tech and higher pcs.
For Maiia to be left off the podium, she would have to completely bomb and the others would have to be squeaky clean.

I could see her getting any of the medals here, even gold, depending on how Sasha and Aliona skate.
