MOSCOW, October 29. / TASS /. The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin is opposed to the introduction of a contract system between athletes and coaches. He stated this at a press conference at TASS.
In figure skating, the introduction of a system of contracts between athletes and coaches was discussed.
" We have a culture of relations, I would not translate all this into legal language, " Matytsin said. " Otherwise, we will come to the conclusion that the contract will specify how many hours the coach should pay attention to a student, whether he can enter his room and whether he should give him instructions. "
The Minister believes that such an experience can lead to a loss of trust between student and coach. " The world is developing, I am not against the formalisation of relations, but this can lead to a loss of trust. A wealth of experience has been accumulated in domestic sports, there is a culture that needs to be strengthened, " he said.
" It's like switching to the introduction of contracts between a child and a parent. The child may not agree with the parent, but this is not a reason to go to a lawyer and sort things out. Otherwise, the essence of personality-forming sports will be lost. If people trust, respect each other and feel as members of a single family, it is possible not only to win medals, but also to form a comfortable environment and sustainable development of our state, " he added.
He was supported by the chairman of the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia, two-time Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva and the President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Yelena Vyalbe. "We must find a common language and understand each other without a piece of paper," said Vyalbe.
