I just rewatched Kamila's short at her last CoR and I'm just mesmerised. The control of her body movements esp her arms. At first, I thought she might just be flailing but if you look closely, you notice the control she has on them most notably during the step sequence. Just gorg. I have fallen in love with the music piece too and I'm sad as not that many skaters have skated to that piece. I really wish more skaters will skate to it in the coming seasons. I watched the only other performance I saw of it which was Patrick Chen which was also sublime. Apparently the music was made for Patrick?
I also had a different impression upon rewatching it the second time. I didn’t appreciate it as much as I should’ve initially for some reason.
Eric is an incredibly talented musician, the music is so wonderful and Kamila skated perfectly to it.

Personally, I don't think the mid section of the program even works that well, the choreo could be improved, but the beginning and especially the ending (step sequence and final spin) work so well, that it does leave a very good overall impression. She is a careless bird in the sky, untroubled by our mundane concerns.

I'm not sure any spot can be guaranteed... Although, I have an awful feeling if it's between Aliona and Liza, Liza has no chance even with a 3A. We all saw how T Tarasova politicked the Judges Council and stopped Liza from going to the 2019 Worlds (despite her results earlier in the season), I have no doubt she would do it again.
If there's a European or world's you know Russia will be sending Sasha and Anna and then the third spot will be up in the air. If aliona had her triple axle back and was skating like last season she would get the nod over Liza but now there's no way to know.

Why would the FED listen to TAT? She does not have the same impact she did 10 or 15 years ago. If TAT says what she thinks about the third spot the FED should just yawn and make their own choice.

As much as I like Liza T for her sassy attitude, there is no denying that Alena is the better skater. I don’t think Alena would need anyone to go to the federation on her behalf. IMO, Alena is better than Sasha and Anna also, but she lacks that quad (and so far 3axel this season).
It’ll depend on who skates the best that day.
I do agree that Anna and Sasha will be on the team. Unless we see a meltdown from Sasha, but she’s very determined this season. Anna is the favorite of the Russian federation, so her spot is a lock.
I see some discussion of Medvedeva. I don’t see her as a factor at all. I wonder if we will see her skate again. Can she keep up with these kids?

Liza Nugumanova will skate at Rostelecom Cup. As a substitute for Zhenya
Sad about Medvedevas withdrawal but not unexpected. I hope we will get to see her skate again this season (but not like what we saw at testskates because that was just sad).

Personally I would have prefered Frolova to be given a chance based on her performances on the russian cup but Nugomanova is also an enjoyable skater to watch. Russia just have to may for us to choose from.

Frovola is a junior
You are right. I allways thought she was the same age as Sasha and Anna but evidently she just turned 15 and isnt age eligeble for seniors until nexxt year. She just looks so mature for her age. Much more so than Kamilla, Maiia and Daria who is apparently of the same age group.

Yes, agreed. Although I don't think anyone is right now. And she will have favourable scoring. She's an innately beautiful skater who gets high PCS and GOE. (There's a reason that even with her struggling everyone is placing her around 3rd ahead of other skaters with 3As or and high technical content.)
Yup. I have only rewatched her fs. I didnt find myself doing that for anna’s or sasha’s. That’s saying a lot. Her ss is god-tier. She gives SS king P Chan a run for his money. I think her pcs will be the highest internationally, with or without 3 axel. She just has to be clean. This season is not important. Right now, she should do everything with Beijing in mind.

Should. Won't.
Maybe their decision will be based on who has a better chance to win an Olympic medal providing the Olympics go off on time in Beijing in 15 months. One would think that would be a Aliona. Of course anyone going ahead of Anna Sasha or KV at this point is almost unimaginable. Because some countries might not send athletes for figure skaters because of the pandemic maybe they can give Russia more than three spots since they're the most deserving. .

Aliona I will agree but Anna? She looks just as much like a "child" in the body as Sasha only thinner frame and less naturally muscular. Both of them seem to have significantly grown in height since last season though. I think it might be the case that Anna will get a similair body to say Tursynbayeva that will allways remain thinn and rather straight and Sasha will have a similairly straight body type but more muscular. This growth in height might be their puberty. It just looks verry different from someone like kostornaia who seem to be filling out more like most women do.

I dont mean this to shame anyone. Women come in all bodytypes and its ok to be curvier or straighter. Though I expect the straighter and thinner to be more suited to quads, both can be beatufuil skaters though. I base this in physics (Mainly moment of inertia) not in any personal preference for certain body types.
I think whether skaters keep their jumps depends more on how much and how fast their bodies change relative to themselves as opposed to each other. These skaters have been growing their entire lives but their jumps are alright because it’s gradual. With puberty, the changes happen much more quickly so it’s more difficult to adapt. And there are many other factors like ratio of the limbs, weight distribution, ability to build muscle, technique, etc. but even with all those aligned, no skater can “survive” puberty if they do end up changing a lot; it takes time to adapt and unfortunately the Russian ladies don’t really have time. They can’t adapt their jumps and up the technical content at the same time, they’ll be doing the former while everyone else is doing the latter. With Alena, Anna, and Sasha, it doesn’t matter how their bodies look compared to eachother (to learn the jumps initially yes but to keep what they have, no), it’s going to depend on how fast and how much it changes for each of them. If they’re lucky the changes will be gradual but if they have genetics like Elena, it will be very difficult.

I also studied engineering and just graduated from an engineering physics masters program. Good to know there are likeminded people here :)
Ooh cool! My undergraduate was in electrical engineering - nanoengineering and I'm in currently in my master's in electrical engineering - microsystems and nanodevices. Most of my friends were in engg phys haha.

She's a year older than Kamila, Daria, and Maiia - they're born in 2006. She's born in 2005. So it's Anna's second year skating at the senior level nationally.

Unfortunately, Alena's peak is higher, even without her 3A. Also, unfortunately, it's not like Liza is a beacon of consistency either on her 3A. And even without it, Alena outscores her on PCS (and GOE). Also Alena tends to score very well internationally too getting the highest PCS in the world (after Evgenia and Alina who aren't competing this year).

Not sure about the Fed, but the Coaches Council certainly listened to her. In fact I think she's on the Coaches Council and they decide who gets the World's spots.

T Tarasova must have some influence, otherwise why would Liza have agreed to take a photo with her rather than pretend she had to be somewhere else or just telling her to take a hike outright?

ETA: Not that I think Aliona has much to worry about, TBH Liza could do a 3A in SP, 2 3As (one in combo) and a quad in the free and the Fed, along with most posters here would still want Aliona on the team more.

Not in that case
Regarding TAT, it planed out as a good choice to sent Zhenya at Worlds that year. But Liza should have been sent instead of Sofia. I was advocating for Alina, Zhenya and Liza for the team, but they didn't listen to me
