Better have all your excitement in one go at the start, instead of disappointment splattered all over the program.![]()
:agree:feraina; Better have all your excitement in one go at the start said:Wow!!! Yeah, I guess that's ONE way of putting it!
Here are some notes (mainly jumps) on all the competitors:
http://www.xanga.com/kwantifiable
Caroline touched down on the 3F/3T, as well as apparently under-rotated.
Poor Mirai had a tough outing, only two triples -- 3F and 3R(+2R) - landed cleanly.
Rachael's 3F/3T was also under-rotated.
Bebe also only had 2 clean triples.
Early season nerves for everyone, hopefully!
I agree that this is the right way to look at the results. I don't think the ISU has any mechanism for sanctioning team events. So this is four separate contests, SP, LP, men and women.I think this would be better perspective:
Ladies SP...

Thanks for the correction, Smoothskater, and welcome to the forum. Post often, post long! :agree:I saw the event and Beatrisa did more than just 2 clean triples. She fell on 2 triples (one of which was downgraded) and landed 4 triples and a double axel/double toe/single toe combination at the end of her program. Some of her triples had minues on the GOE but she still complete four. It actually became a skate off between Bebe and Fumi (there was about a 2 point lead for the US before these 2 girls skated) and Bebe's overall point total was higher than Fumi's which secured the win for team USA.
I just added a YouTube Player with the first five vids from this competition. It's at the page top and features the programs of Mao Asada, Johnny Weir, Mirai Nagasu, Caroline Zhang and Daisuke Takahashi. As other Japan vs USA Counter Match videos are uploaded to YouTube, they will be added to this player.
Miki's spirals looked greatly improved, despite the wobble. But she looks so unhappy and miserable all around, even beforehand in the interviews. I wonder if her lonely summer of hard training in the US demoralized her rather than strengthened her.
Most likely her performance was nothing related to hard training. More likely it was due to being worn out from traveling to Europe (Croatia Cup JGP) at the end of Sept. and then returning to the states with less than a week's turnaround before the long flight to Japan. Her bodyclock just never caught up to all that jetlag.
Miki's on the Senior Grand Prix circuit, and not beginning until Skate America, I believe! Her troubles could be caused by the fact she's felt isolated during the summer...
