Very true. For all of her faults, Medvedeva is still the standard when it comes to winning. None of Eteri's other students were as consistent as Medvedeva and not one remained undefeated for 2.5 years.

Give credit where credit is due.
Yes, that's the thing for which she is best among Eteri's students.

The one who had the potential to top that was kostornaia since she was extremely consistent in her 1st senior season (more than Medvedeva), with harder tech content (and stronger competition) and she was solid in her two junior seasons too.

She didn't lost her consistency with Plushy so far.

It'd because the list of participants is already out:

I'd be surprised if she was back this soon, wasn't she recently quarantined because of Covid?
She wasn‘t only quarantined but in fact hospitalized because of “serious lung damage“. (in her own words) So, looks like she was badly affected by covid.

This has me very concerned. Serious lung damage for an athlete is no joke. I‘d be surprised if she could ever skate competitively again. Call me pessimistic but this doesn‘t look good. Just... sad.

Hope there will be news about Sinitsina soon, I'm really worried about her :(

those nostalgic about the good old times of 'long held spirals' Caro-style, should be happy to see Kamila 'overspiralling' Caro herself :D

To be fair that wasn't a spiral sequence (already removed) but a Chsq, so the spiral coudn't be held as long as the old days.

Anyway Kostner's (and Kim) spiral sequences were overrated.

I hope it won't be an end of career announcement.

Yikes, this doesn't sound good. I can tell from my limited non-medical knowledge, that it depends on what kind of damage there is to the lungs made by her Covid, because some damage to the lungs from Covid is healed completely, some is not. I can't remember what it is specifically, but I know that there's a difference.

Oh no! I hope she makes a full recovery. What an awful, awful season this has been for her.

As an asthmatic, may I offer you a small ray of comfort, Fluture? As long as we have our medication, we can still participate in sports, and some of us are capable of doing so at a high level - I believe Yuzuru Hanyu is an asthmatic, and that hasn't slowed him down as a competitor. My own lung function is severely compromised, but exercise and medication mean that my lung capacity improves, and, while it takes my lungs longer to build up, I can still be active and compete in sport. So, depending on the treatment Zhenya gets, the extent and the effects of her lung damage, and how well she maintains her own health, her lungs will heal, and the possibility remains that she may be able to skate competitively again. Whether she does or does not is obviously something none of us here can predict, but she herself sounds like she believes she will be back competing again next year.

Possibly, though I will say photographs can be misleading, there were pictures at the first cup stage where Shcherbakova and Khromykh were together and in some of the pictures they looked to be about the same height and in other pictures Khromykh looked to be a good 3-5 inches taller than Shcherbakova.
Here’s a photo from the 4th cup stage.
Even though Sasha stands closer to the camera and Maiia is a little bit behind her, she’s still quite a bit taller.

Here’s she near Anna, shot from the front, so the angle doesn’t distort their height difference too much (also quite a bit taller than Anna):

Aside from her height, I think it’s her body proportions in general that although look very pretty in motion on ice, obviously don’t help jumping at all. And that considering she didn’t finish growing yet.

First of all, Petrosyan and Usacheva are not overrated by the federation. Especially Petrosyan, considering she hasn't even had a proper international debut yet. Second of all, I don't understand what the lutz similarity is about? There are a lot of skaters who flutz! There are a lot of skaters who also don't get called! And having one bad lutz doesn't mean the skater is bad. That's literally one jump out of the thousands of other factors in skating.
There is a reason to return to this topic again. Today at the Moscow Cup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfrl1bAL_-I
Usacheva: 0: 50: 00 - 74.44
Tsibinova: 0:24:00 - 67.39
According to the results, Usacheva has an advantage of 7 points after the short program. This is with a gross error on the cascade and an incorrect edge on the Lutz (clearly visible in the broadcast, GOE1.77 for this jump)
You have the opportunity to unbiasedly compare these Skaters, the quality of the programs and performances. For me it looks like an approximate equality in this competition, with a slight advantage for Tsibinova (maybe one point). In fact - 7-8 points in the assessment of Usacheva is a gift from the judges. As usual, however.

FSO forum people recently discussed who among Runaways will return to the Chrystal Dome with her tail between legs?

Due to the fact Medvedeva will not participate in RusNats and the rest of her season looks grim one place in a corner of the Supreme Witch's heart may be vacated.

My bet it will be Kostornaya. But she will have to come an hour earlier and leave an hour after everyone else. To clean the staff, polish whatevere to be polishied and put everything in order for the next day...

With what we saw today, everyone could bet that this will be the podium of the junior Russian nationals: Akatieva - Samodelkina (fight for the gold) and Berestovskaia bronze. Akatieva and Petrosyan with their disastrous skating have nothing to do in the fight for the podium of the nationals since they are today 50 points from the bronze.

A great respect for Davydov, always serious, even-tempered and without spouting disrespectful comments like a certain beginning coach. Seeing Davydov makes one think of what Dudakov must have been like in his youth, possibly not much different.

Considering that Valieva and Usacheva are senior skaters if Davydov wins the nationals by putting his 2 girls on the podium he can without a doubt be called the best junior coach of the year.
Why wouldn't KV and Dasha skate Junior Nationals? It's not like they're skating so many eventually wouldn't have time for junior Nationals which is usually a few weeks after senior Nationals. Also kamila and Dasha won't be skating if there is a senior World Championship in that event but they would be skating in the junior World Championship or I would think they would. It may not happen because of covid-19 but I think their coaches want them to skate as many events as possible in this very limited Coronavirus shortened season.

I doubt that if any return would happen, it would be before the end of the season or at least before nationals and worlds (maybe unless we would witness another meltdown). Such change always brings difficulties and stress and nothing is guaranteed.
