It's probably the best they could hope for at this moment. Still sad that if Anna, Kamila, Sasha or any other of the girls that could potentially win the olympics succeed, it will be without their national symbols.
What will they be competing as?

Why hasn't Russia fix this problem which goes back 6 years or so?

Zhilina's 4Lz could become the gold standard. But things like prerotation and height don't necessarily matter to GOE judges. In reality the main consideration is just "good landing".

Has she done her 4 lutz in competition? I know she didn't at her cup events. Practice is fine and dandy, but the real test is how the jumps looks when it comes competition time and its being done in a program.

But still, even in practice, it is impressive to see such a deep edge and minimal prerotation in a quad. Now all those fans who say "all ladies cheat their quads" can finally fade out of existence.

Her jump technique is just lovely. It isn’t just the minimal prerotation and height, it is also the arch her jumps get. They don’t just go up and come right down, they go up and cover a long distance. It seems to me it is very sustainable technique, but many things can happen to skaters as they age so it is impossible to know for sure. She is still so young, younger than both Sofia’s.. we will see how they all cope with growth and if they can (hopefully) avoid injury.

I used to have a feeling that her air position can be loose sometimes, like Aliona on 2A, but I went on to check in more detail, and it looks alright.
Seems that the height is there too. Yeah, I guess she just needs more time.

Maybe she can't rotate fast enough. Tsurskaya and Karen Chen had the biggest 3Lzs but they never had a quad. There were many times where they could barely rotate the 3Lz because of rotation speed.

But height and rotation speed aren't the only factors. Kolyada had all the height and rotation speed in the world during the Olympic season and that 4Lz was a miss so many times. So many other things go into jumps too - body position, posture, landing position, timing, etc.

And there are also other things aside from technical issues like confidence, trust in yourself and coaches, etc. Tarakanova previously said that she was afraid to try quads.

Because Vladimir Putan would rather keep the lid closed and have the athletes suffer rather than potentially lose face.

What they'll be competing as is a question: they'll be either OAR (Olympic Athletes from Russia as during the 2018 olys, or possibly ANA (Authorized Neutral Athletes as during the track & field WCs). Probably the former or its variation. Either way, olympic flag instead of the national, no anthem, no twin-headed Chernobyl mutant eagle, no variation of red white and blue on any clothing or objects and no any other sort of Russian insignia.

As a Russian myself, I don't really care. We all know who these sportsmen are and where they're from. You can always go on youtube and play the anthem there when they raise the olympic flag during a victory ceremony.

Am I the only one who could swear here that this is not a quad, but a triple? The turning speed seems so slow. Strange.
You’re not the only one. Actually, there’s been a lot of comments like that on internet. I‘ve tried to look at slow-mo videos, and in some of them it legitimately looks like it’s a triple, it got me really confused at first. Like look at this one: https://streamable.com/ckhafb
But in really slowed down versions, it is indeed 4 rotations, if we go frame by frame.
she just somehow rotated first and forth rotation quicker or something, there’s a also a tiny extra pre- and under-rotation, so it creates this confusing effect. But it’s still actually 4 rotations. Only her first attempt at 11, so I guess it’s just not perfected yet.

Thought experiment for anyone bored and who likes hypothetical scoring. Let's say for nationals Anna, Sasha, and Kamila all skate clean. Anna does a two quad program (flip and lutz), Sasha four quads in the free/3axel in the short, and Kamila two quads toes and 3axel in the short. Who do you think would win?

I mean if they all do this good it would really depend on the quality of the elements and the performance. I would give it to Sasha. If you want to perfect the experiment you'd have to take their best GOE and PCS scores from the Cup Events since those will mostly likely transfer to RusNats.

That part is really huge, the mental game is almost everything, so long as you’re not injured. Many people could physically rotate a quad if they committed, but the fear of harming yourself in the process causes the body to back down. Even with great height and fast rotation ability normally, the mind has to make the body follow through.

Or, people simply get lost in the air, which is not exactly a technical thing that has a clear correction, it’s an attribute that a skater either inherently has, or must learn with extensive practice. The visualization or physical feeling that gets it to click will differ between individuals.

are we 100% sure Tuk will go for the quad toe at nationals? I think if she may attempt And land 2 triple axels she could make the team. Then she could focus on the quad for worlds

It’s very sad for these girls. Obviously none of this is their fault or doing, but their Federation does deserve to have consequences for their actions. We should all be grateful that the IOC is allowing them to continue competing :)

They will be competing as OAR

They continue to get banned because their still seems to be reported systemic doping scandals in Russia during the Sochi Olympics - controversial topic so I don’t really want to get into the details Of “why” it hasn’t been fixed
