Plyushchenko takes responsibility:

"Alyona fell ill with coronavirus, went out to train after recovering a week before the Russian Championships. Unfortunately, she could not prepare because of aftereffects of coronavirus, it is very difficult for her to skate programs in terms of breathing. It's such a hard time now. Although Alyona jumped and was eager to fight to the end But you can get complications during training, so the decision was taken to withdraw the athlete from the tournament despite all her desire to compete. But the girl is young, she still has to live and live, I took responsibility for the recommendations of the doctors to withdraw her from the Championship so that there will be no complications "

Taking responsibility in following doctor's recommendations ...

It's a bit strange though. Didn't Kostornaia say on Instagram that she wasn't sick at all, just tested positive?

But I guess the lack of training got to her.

It will be interesting to see how Tuktamysheva and Gulyakova will cope. After all, they withdrew from Stage 5 as well.
And of course Shcherbakova, who had pneumonia at that time.

Anya is back in (almost) full training mode (not doing the full programme runs yet) and jumping fully rotated quads:

Mishin cryptic as always:

No word on Samodurova and Gulyakova, best check their social media for any follow ups

I actually find it a lot stranger when someone is already doing the full amount of training inclusive Quads 4 weeks after logging out due to pneumonia. There are only 2 possible explanations for this. Either everyone involved is acting completely irresponsible or the pneumonia was not pneumonia.

She’s not doing a full amount of training, Anna said she’s not doing program run throughs and from what I remember from her interview, she’s not training normally.

Anna confirmed her falling ill with pneumonia, Plyushchenko now has Kostornaya with breathing problems despite being asymptomatic?
"After a mild corona illness, some sufferers complain of symptoms for weeks or months, even if the virus is no longer detectable:
- Disorders of the sense of smell and taste
- persistent exhaustion and fatigue
- Difficulty breathing
- Joint pain
It is not yet known why this is and how long the consequences can last with a mild course of the disease."

Aren't Nationals in 2 days? Has she withdrawn, if she isn't training normally yet?
I’m not sure when exactly the interview was done. She said she won’t forgive herself if she missed nationals, so looks like she’s very dedicated to perform in any shape. But I’m not being too hopeful she’ll be in a very good one, if she hasn’t been doing full program run throughs. Glad to see both quads are back though.

Jesus Christ, I’m hoping Aliona won’t suffer all of those symptoms for months... health should be put first, so the decision to withdraw, especially considering Worlds are still up in the air, is a good one. Wishing swift recovery to Aliona.

Nika seems to have been “lucky” (as much as one can get after getting infected). Although she wasn’t doing too well last 2 competitions, she still seems to be in a relatively good shape. Thankfully, the disease didn’t hurt baby Nika too hard. I sincerely hope she isn’t experiencing any of those symptoms. :-/

It was never confirmed that Anna had COVID, was it? As far as I know, the only official explanation was that she had pneumonia (of some sort).

Maybe they initially downplayed Aloina’s symptoms ? I highly doubt she would withdraw from Nationals without a very good reason. These girls are a competitors and know the importance of this competition. Showing up is one of most important things.
I still think she’s the best female skater in Russia right now, even without her triple Axel. She has the most potential of them and what a shame there wasn’t a worlds last year, and that she had Covid this season.
