Should she have tested positive, it would have been announced, I'm sure.
But I read nowhere if she had been tested for CoViD or not at the time of this pneumonia, so at the moment I don't think we really know.
Maybe someone knows if skaters are tested regularly in Russia/at TeamTutberidze, even if they don't have a championship planned in the next days?
Fortunately, she didn't miss ice long and didn't lose her jumps. I hope her health is good now, and she can train "normally".

EDIT : @Thrashergurl , having had only ten days training after a two-week off-ice period (I read several times it was sufficient to "have to restart to scratch") seems to me a sufficient reason in itself. If in addition she doesn't have a perfect breathe...

Anna confirmed her falling ill with pneumonia, Plyushchenko now has Kostornaya with breathing problems despite being asymptomatic?
Alena never was asymptomatic, when her illness was announced it was said that she lost her sense of smell, that is not being asymptomatic. And that was at the beginning of her illness, other symptoms can appear quickly. We also know, if anyones has kept up with media, studies or with cases in their family and friend circle, that you can feel fine one day and the next be hospitalized. Covid can change your health drastically in the span of a few days.

Actually, you can feel almost healthy in one moment and a few hours later, weaker than you've ever felt. In the same day. And the next day can be similar.

I'm speaking from experience. I had this illness in March/April already. Such a roller coaster

Maybe they initially downplayed Aloina’s symptoms ? I highly doubt she would withdraw from Nationals without a very good reason. These girls are a competitors and know the importance of this competition. Showing up is one of most important things.
I still think she’s the best female skater in Russia right now, even without her triple Axel. She has the most potential of them and what a shame there wasn’t a worlds last year, and that she had Covid this season.
Some people who initially experience almost no symptoms of COVID will go on to have rather long last effects from the disease. Although the reduced lung capacity that this brings for some people is irritating for a regular person, it is obvious more serious for an athlete. I can't believe how irresponsible all of those in power in Russia have been with COVID. As a result, many skaters are withdrawing and others, like Anna (who had pneumonia .....haha) and Liza who had COVID will be going into this competition without proper training. I just hope no one else gets seriously hurt or injured this year. And, I am so sorry that Alena (definitely one of my favorite skaters) has been forced to withdraw. They should have postponed nationals.

As sad as I am that Alena’s not competing, (was looking forward to her programs the most!) I’m happy that her health is being put first. With Euros already cancelled and Worlds still unsure, it makes sense to skip this nationals and potentially not train as hard for a little bit so she can help her breathing problems. I’m surprised more people aren’t withdrawing if I’m being honest, whether it’s covid or pneumonia they are both so hard on the body. Anyway, now that Aliona’s out...go Sasha:cheer:

Taisiya was born in 2010.

where she is on the medal stand with her trainers.

Still searching for Kazan results and some more information.

The competition also had Yasmina Kadyrova's younger sister competing, and the live stream was of good quality, unlike some other of late.

Stanislava Molchanova will compete for honour and glory in the National Championships.

Here is a short piece on her:

Damn. She got perfect grades in every subject in both halfs of the school year 😲🤓

While also skating competitively 🔥💪

It certainly isn't directly toward Anna. I just hope she is safe. However, it a bit hard to believe that she had pneumonia, not COVID while her training mate was in the hospital with COVID. In my opinion, it is just further proof of RF incompetence and the whole mess upsets me.

Medvedeva got Covid when she was in the hospital for a minor procedure not when she was training.

I don't think it's in our place to criticize RusFed. We maybe think they have a more "pragmatic" view and "life goes on" kind of strategy. But that's their choice. It's not like there isn't any precautions. We have recently learned e.g. that Gubanova has been quarantined, not because she was ill, but her mother was. And that was the reason she didn't compete at the Russian Cup Stages. Same with Sakhanovich, who got injured during quarantine.
Criticizing RusFed for having competitions is quite rude IMO.

I am also sad for missing out on seeing Kostornaya develop her programs, but her getting COVID in the critical time... I hope she recovers and continues into the next season.

all eyes on Anna Scherbakova now to see how she will compete after we haven’t seen her for a while.

also, I am hoping Frolova will shine!

well my excitement for RusNats has certainly dwindled now that Aliona is out, but i can't say i'm totally surprised with how little time there was between when she resumed training and now. i hope the skaters who miss nationals aren't written off the rest of the season because of these circumstances.

I politely disagree lol. I think both the original posters problem with the federation (and mine + many others on here and on other platforms as well) is that it seems they aren’t really caring about the health of their athletes by holding all these competitions despite basically the entire senior team having covid and/or injured. I think as the governing body for skating in Russia, the federation should recognize the high amount of sick/injured athletes and cancel competitions or at least postpone them. For example, because RusFed doesn’t want to cancel nationals, there are skaters really pushing themselves to an extent that they really shouldn’t right now, especially after overcoming a pretty serious illness (like Anna S.) I think everyone just wants the best for these athletes, especially health wise (most importantly!) and by holding these competitions, the health of the athletes is in danger (especially since the long term effects of covid are still unknown).

Anna Karpuk skated cleanly again in the free program of Peter the Great Cup in 1-sp Older Girls category.

But she skated with double jumps only, while Kseniya Remyga skated with triple jumps, so Kseniya won the free skating competition and the overall (Anna 1:2 154.93, Kseniya 2:1 164.22)

Anastasiya Marasonova just completed her short program in 1-sp Younger Girls category for 37.20 + 37.25 = 74.45, well done!
