Oniceperspective had no problem going to Canada 1or 2 months ago. The two ice dancing teams didn’t have any problems returning Canada either after Skate America. I don’t think it is that big a problem.
Also Satoko is competing in Japan right now.

True, but they will still have to quarantine upon return, as will any coaches.
That is true, even in US, states like NY, CT and PA you need to quarantine upon returning
Do they have to even if they take a test showing negative?

Yes .. my sister tested negative on first testing, the results of the more complete test due in 7 days. She is in quarantine until results of the second test, hopefully negative.

That was also before the post-Thanksgiving spike, which really was just inevitable at that point.
Canada's rules about travellers from the US haven't changed since they started, except to be more lenient about family members and significant others of Canadian residents. Interpretations may change, but that's more as people become outraged at some of the exceptions that have been made, rather than in response to changing conditions in the US. Of course, worsening conditions in the US make it less likely the rules will be relaxed any time soon.
Andrew cited prolonged recovery from an injury in July and not enough preparation after moving to new training environment as the reasons for his withdrawal from nationals.

He had a foot injury but is now OK. Unfortunately he couldn't participate in the qualifying competitions though so that's why he's not competing at Nationals.

The US men are probably more powerful or at least as powerful as the very talented Japanese men's team. Nathan has yet to be beaten and unless Yuzuru skates clean itis Nathans to lose. Vinnie doesn't have the pcs so if he isn't clean he can be beaten by Yuzuru and Shoma. Jason needs to skate clean and hope those ahead - Nathan, Vinnie, Shoma, Yuzuru and maybe the reinvigorated Kolyada falter.
Such depth on the US team. I still believe Jason will get the quad; remember even Susan Lucci won that Emmy eventually.

Thanks so much. I enjoyed this thrilling performance again. I could watch forever on a loop and never get enough. Plus, Jason's humility and joie de vivre are so infectious. He gives love, he is love!
I also enjoyed reading the comments section. Everyone was on point, and then some. What some observers who aren't familiar with skating don't realize is that this program is attributable to both Rohene Ward and Jason Brown, with inspiration from the Sinnerman section of legendary modern dance choreographer Alvin Ailey's iconic, transcendent and revelatory, Revelations.
Ya know, this mesmerizing collaboration between Brown & Ward has proven over and over again why diversity is necessary in figure skating, and it has always been essential (however much ignored). The Sinnerman in Revelations is a different version than the one crafted by Nina Simone. Both versions are wonderful, but Simone's is so perfect for this sp. Ward & Brown get jazz and the blues, and they get Nina Simone. Brown has been Ward's muse, and his instrument for creating and transmitting so many wonderful and revealing moments. They are one dynamic duo, and they both should be appreciated more by the sport of figure skating.
As I was watching on Daily Motion some of the Virtual performances by Canadian men based at the Cricket Club, e.g., Corey Circelli, Conrad Orzel, Joseph Phan, it came fully home to me that not only has Jason benefited by training at the Cricket Club, but so have his training mates there, which in turn benefits Skate Canada and the Canadian men's discipline in part. I realize that this was a key factor and the selling point that Tracy Wilson understood and convinced Brian Orser of regarding bringing Jason aboard. It's not only Jason's superb style, artistry and work ethic that is an example for younger skaters, it's also his charming personality and his generous, loving spirit.

Unfortunately, during U.S. Nationals, the only issue which is hard to ignore or forgive is the terrible camera coverage. NBC has still not learned how to cover figure skating. Why do they insist upon keeping the camera on a tight close-up forever??? Fine zoom in and then zoom out. Or else use a split screen to better advantage. What do they think they're going to get by staying glued to skaters' facial expressions in the opening moments of programs??? True figure skating fans know that we need to see skaters' entire bodies. DUH!
Throughout this event, the camera stayed on skaters' faces in close-ups at the beginning of programs in such a clueless way. Look at the beginning of Jason's performance. I love his face, but zoom out before the music begins!!! What is wrong with NBC's camera crew? Why can't they learn that the music is going to start and the skaters are going to move out of frame and viewers are going to miss full body movements that are part of the program that we need to see to enjoy the full experience. Why can't someone brain this through NBC's thick skull? Why are you there Tara & Johnny if you can't tell the director or the cameraperson to get with it PLEASE?!!!
They are forever doing this during the openings of Nathan Chen's programs too. Notoriously during Nemesis and other programs where Nathan moves completely out of the tight close-up frame when the music starts, and the camera has to search for him. So bonehead by NBC, and they never learn. I try not to blow a blood vessel watching. I try to keep my temper and my blood pressure down, but it's so completely annoying. The camera coverage during Knierim/Frazier's and C/J's skates was schizophrenic with that annoying high floating cam usage and constant cutting to different angles for no good reason.

This! 1000 % I was actually thinking about complaining about the same thing and yes, it was particularly noticeable in Jason's Sinnerman (and yes, same with Nemesis, it looked almost comical whenever Nathan seemingly ducked out of the frame each time in the beginning of his program
).

Piniot did beat Jason Brown in the free skate, and came within a fraction of a point of beating Vincent Zhou for second. But he was too far behind in the short to move up. (His SP was excellent also, but both Brown and Zhou were also outstanding in the SP..)How did Paniot managed to be 4th with such a FS?What a quaf flip, amazing.
