I would say that's more Sasha and Anna knowing each other better and being more comfortable in front of the camera in big moments. Remember this is their third senior RusNats and they have been to other bigger events (like Euros together for that matter) while it's Kamila's first senior RusNats and she's still a junior internationally.
That is of course completely clear to me. The only thing that got on my nerves was "Sasha was way more angry than Kamila". Because it's just nothing more than a projection.

Oh agreed. It got on my nerves too. (Also both are children. Really most everyone is. Children who tried their best. Children with their own unique personalities and goals and dreams.)

Posters seem to like projecting sentiments and emotions on skaters based on how that agrees with their own narrative when really all we have is a brief snippet in a highly-public spectacle.

No reason to get on your nerves. It was simply my opinion. And it was based on the fact that for Sasha the spot in the national team is at stake while for Kamila it's not. Of course, any of them would feel upset by losing gold at nationals especially with 2 clean quads.

So? If you have no problem taking that opinion publicly, then I'll oppose mine. It was obvious to me that Kami was far more angry than Sasha. I am also of the opinion that all of the PR has seeped into Kami to such an extent that she considers herself to be the one when the TT sells it to the figure skating world. And anyway. Did Sasha sound offended?
Here you can also see very well who makes a more relaxed impression and to what extent:
I think Kamila was just being quiet and reserved and letting Sasha and Anna have their fun. In retrospect I don't think Sasha was pleased that KV passed her and I don't think KV was pleased that Anna passed her. But I don't think anyone was a bad sport and everyone seemed to get on well from the videos I saw at the press conference and elsewhere.

there was a lapse in time between us seeing the skaters on the screen and them actually realizing they're being filmed, which is why many skaters had that 😐 look for a few seconds before showing a smile. They just see their faces pop up later than we do, and it's pretty normal to not be too happy that one of your rivals is probably going to outscore you. Or, maybe that's just their serious resting faces 😅
That makes total sense about a few second delay and then they see their faces and then they smile. I think the ladies had AA credible nationals with great sportsmanship everywhere.

Unfortunately it is paid article. Any summary?
Sorry for the late response. Just a brief summary, but the article detailed how the Russians that have been sick were affected by their illnesses at Nationals. It was most of the obvious cases, as Tuk was struggling to land the jumps, Anna was visibly struggling to breathe and looked tired (although she still delivered!). They also spoke of Kostornaia/Medvedeva’s withdrawals and how it having COVID and the back injury could be what prevents Zhenya from gaining the form necessary to make the Olympics again.

It also mentioned the other disciplines and how Russia is basically letting the virus run wild in their skating community. It also did not mention Anna having coronavirus or having a fever before the event.

That's how I saw it too. Same with others.

It was really a joyous Russian nationals for the ladies even with all the controversies about fever and withdrawal. The ladies delivered the best nationals I've ever seen in a singles. The ladies are to be fully commended especially since the off season was abbreviated because of covid 19 and this season has been abbreviated because of govind 19 and many skaters have been ill.

I sure hope they get a chance at worlds this season.

I agree! I think these controversies and attacks take away from what was the highlight of the season (hopefully so far.)

There is nothing wrong with being 14 and disappointed that you didn't win. Of course she wanted to win! She is allowed to look sad, she's a human being who suffered disappointment.

No one should be condemning her for feeling sad because she didn't win.
Especially because you know if she hadn't looked sad people would be saying she doesn't care enough, she doesn't have what it takes, etc. Ugh.

Exactly! It was a night to remember. Three absolutely fantastic skates at the top - what more can you ask for. I didn't think this year could top the drama from last year, but it did!

I think all the controversies just comes down to that some people are disappointed that "their girl" didn't win. And I find it funny that some people who can't tell the difference between a 3T or a 3Lz are having heated arguments about the scoring.

We all have our favourites. Personally, I root for all the Russian Ladies. I just think they are all fab. My underdog fave Talalaykina had her best skate ever. But only 9th. But she was superhappy with that and so am I. I had a dream though the other night that I was in Sankt Petersburg watching figure skating - and Talalaykina won! So there you go, she's a winner too! ;)

I just wonder, what cause is going to make Anna an underdog next year? ;)
Three nats, neglected by media experts in all of them.
And, I am sorry to say, neglected by me too! I had her only 2nd in the Prediction Game! I didn't think she would be able to come back after her illness, but she did. Had she been free from sickness, she would have presented a 3 quad program I'm sure.

I am glad though that I won gold (with others) in the Ladies Prediction Game. But I remember last year, I was the only one who predicted the top 5 correctly. Very few had Shcherbakova as winner back then. And two years ago, I think no one had.

What made me to put Anna into the first place were two interviews I saw with her within the three weeks before the nationals. Although it was not just about skating and preparation for Chelyabinsk, the healthy and quiet self-confidence radiated from her. And for this sport the mental well-being is essential.

Before the tourney Kamila was out of the reach in my mind and Sasha catchable only if she'd imploded like at Rostelekom.
After short, I just prayed for Anya to be in top 3 amongst seniors - just simplify the program to reach the end without collapsing on the ice.

I don't feel bad though, because even her coach for 7 years didn't see it coming. :love2:

Literally no one did :love2:

I hope they will not try to add any new jumps to Kamila's arsenal for next season, and focus instead on the psychological part with her.
Cause her biggest, maybe only, weakness is mental - being nervous. And for that a) making mistakes and b) having the facial expression of a scared little girl (which she literally is tho, I know) rather than expressing the program. There is clearly no physical limitation like those we start to see from the injured and "aging" former A trio.
She'll be at Russian Ladie Skater prime age next season. Give her good programs and work on her self confidence 🙏
