I know at least 6 junior/senior skates who have done it who never got big international recognition.
It's more common than you think.

Fair enough, but it shouldn't be used as a "weapon" against Aliona. Just because she doesn't skate to the music you (generic you) likes in the way you (again generic you) want her too doesn't mean she's doing the wrong thing.

Also, and the judges should probably get this written on the back of their hands, outside of offensive lyrics a skater can perform to whatever they want and their score should reflect how they skated to that piece, doesn't matter if it's the Chicken Dance or something like Beethoven. Unless they want to change the rules to specify that.

Agree, its her choice I'll stand up and say her career she should skate to what she wants to (barring music with obscene lyrics), but per my original post, her skating this season has not matched to the music and I feel the presentation this year has been a step backwards (my post also excused that it could be due to the disjointed offseason) which can affect the PCS mark. I agree a bit with the comparison that starlight97 made, its like Tarasova/Morozov skating to Candyman; she may like the music or wanting to branch out, but the Eilish music/program doesn't really highlight her strengths and in an Olympic year where its going to be an incredibly tough task to make the Olympic team and she knows that Sambo skaters (who she will be competing with for an Olympic spot) generally always have dialed in programs that are designed to score well, highlight their strengths and hide their weaknesses...next year might not be the year to whip out something like the Eilish program she has this year except for exhibitions.

That's pretty boring though isn't it? Like people complain all the time about warhorses, but then when someone tries something new they're suddenly disadvantaging themselves and OMG they're sabotaging themselves!

Besides it sounds more like the issue with Aliona's programs is the choreo, which doesn't necessarily mean she has to skate to the same old, same old. She just needs a better choreographer.

That's pretty boring though isn't it? Like people complain all the time about warhorses, but then when someone tries something new they're suddenly disadvantaging themselves and OMG they're sabotaging themselves!

Besides it sounds more like the issue with Aliona's programs is the choreo, which doesn't necessarily mean she has to skate to the same old, same old. She just needs a better choreographer.

I personally thought the SP choreography was alright - and actually like it to the Shae Lynn Bourne free skate which is unusual as I usually love programs produced by Shae Lynn... Maybe a result of working through the internet?

I just hate the music - but I like Kostornaia and I like how she enjoys skating to the music which is why I am quite supportive of her music choice.

And some kind of a weird team competition in February. A week after Junior Nats in Megasport.

And they are planning some international junior competition for March

Exactly, figure skating fans are so transparent. There's thousands of movie soundtracks out there. Even though I love pop music, I'm still not completely sure about it as figure skating music, but I don't think a figure skater is wrong for choosing it. Some of it is pretty emotional and has depth. I think it would be really cool, too, if skaters found instrumental versions of pop songs, like was mentioned about the music from Bridgerton in the Brand New Ideas thread. I'd love to see more programs to movie soundtracks of the past 20 years. I'm still surprised there hasn't been a program to Across the Stars from Star Wars.
