Patrick ChanPatrick?
I'm guessing he means Patrick Chan. He recently retired.Patrick?
Yep my biggest problem is the tech score is unlimited whereas PCs has a cap of 50. Nathan and Jason are both amazing in their own ways but if you score Nathan’s PCS as nearly 50 there’s no way to differentiate what Jason did. Nathan deserves his tech advantage but there should be a way for Jason to get a PCS advantage that’s representative of what he put on the ice compared to others. No other skater in the world can do what Chen did either. A lot of people tend to conveniently forget that when advocating for changes to the scoring system.
Don't rush them please. When Nathan, Vincent & Jason finally retire, who do you see as the future for USA?

What is the PCS limit? That's what Jason should have received. Highest, highest PCS. No kidding! The PCS gap between them should have been wider
Yes. This! That's the perfect way to explain it. Nathan is incredible at tech - and actually I think he deserves the PCS he gets relative to everyone other than Jason. I like Nathan's skating. He's got a real style all his own and it totally works for him. I don't begrudge him his scores and I don't think they are inflated, like some jumping beans without anything else. But the cap of 50 doesn't leave enough room to reward Jason for what he does so extraordinarily.Yep my biggest problem is the tech score is unlimited whereas PCs has a cap of 50. This is the song of my people. And now I must return to my regularly scheduled argument in the main board.
This made me laugh. Fortunately, the outlying scores are removed, so yay!Judge number three gave both Vincent Zhou and Jason Brown 9.00 for skating skills.
Judge number three thinks Vincent Zhou has the same skating skills level as Jason Brown.
What the actual heck. I know there's US Nats screwiness but that's just...
Judge three also gave them the same score for Performance.
Judge three also gave Nathan Chen a higher skating skills mark than Jason Brown.
Judge three should be sent back to PCS school.
Thank you for saying that, because, at times, it seems that people chose to wilfully ignore this simplest, most logical thingI think it is notable though that Chen literally did an extra rotation in his flip and his lutz.
If a skater back in the day a skater did a 2F, 2Z+3T, 3A while the top person did a 3F, 3Z+3T, 3A, even if they had Jason’s level of skating there would have been a considerable gap between them and the leader.
The PCS gap between them should have been wider but I think a 13 point margin isn’t too egregious given Chen did two quads and and Brown did none.
Well some will argue Hanyu. And what he Nathan did was also amazing. Changes are made to the scoring system almost yearly. Maybe this year not so much. I would not want to have to pick between them. But Jason is in 3rd...by a lot.No other skater in the world can do what Chen did either. A lot of people tend to conveniently forget that when advocating for changes to the scoring system.
I love Nathan. I am not a Nathan critic. But removing the PCS cap might help. Or it might send things too far the other way. What is the PCS limit? That's what Jason should have received. Highest, highest PCS. No kidding!
But Nathan don't shirk in PCS department, no matter what his critics think.
Hanyu cant do a quad flip or land a quad lutz consistently. What Chen did today was the most difficult sp ever which Hanyu cant do. Of course this is all in terms of difficulty not artistry before someone gets triggered.Well some will argue Hanyu. And what he Nathan did was also amazing. Which is what he earned. He cannot be closer when his technical content is not the same as his competitors. Maintaining the 5 components of the PCS is harder when energy goes into performing a quad jump. His PCS was higher than Chen’s and Zhou’s, but Chen and Zhou demonstrated the skating steps in coordination with music, complex transitions in and out of jumps, glide, speed, ice coverage, power stroking, and, in Zhou’s case some serious artistry as well along with clever personalized choice of a music piece, earning lower PCS. It is a fair placement and scoring, in fact on the generous side for Brown, despite his unique flexibilityWell some will argue Hanyu. And what he Nathan did was also amazing.
