Jason Brown

Jason retweeted an article about the new British men's novice champion:

A virtual seminar with renowned American figure skater Jason Brown during lockdown gave Isaac further inspiration to succeed.

“He idolises Jason now,” said Debbie.

this story was so heartwarming.

evidently this young man is on the autism spectrum but developed a love for skating. He is now the novice champion for Britain.

and of course inspired by Jason (and others, but this is the Jason FF  , so we'll stick with our boy)

That is fantastic. If there is any skater to idolize, Jason is the one. He'll go out of this way to meet that boy and encourage him. What a great story!

Agree that Isaac's story is absolutely heartwarming. (Ditto for Jason's tweet of support.)
My congratulations to Isaac, his mother, and his coaches!

With no disrespect whatsoever to Isaac, I will add a clarification:
"His hard work and determination culminated in him being named Men’s Novice Champion at the Inclusive Skating British International Virtual Championships on January 9."

(For anyone interested, the web page for the event: https://inclusiveskating.org/article/british-international-virtual-championships-2020. Some videos of Isaac are on this channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/InclusiveSkating/videos)

Go, Isaac!

Also heartwarming is the tweet from Isaac's mother in reply to Jason's tweet:

Awwww Jason on the Melancholy program:

“Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be; embrace who you are.” -
@BreneBrown

"This is a piece about reflection. It’s about having the courage to be vulnerable, reexamining truths that suddenly aren’t as sound as once thought. It’s about looking in the mirror and acknowledging shortcomings, insecurities, and flaws, yet being brave enough to love the person who stares back. It’s about having the resiliency to weather storms, while unafraid to ask for help getting through them. It’s about forgiveness and the desire to grow, outweighing the shame attached to admitting when wrong. It’s about hope for a better tomorrow, by actively creating a better today. It’s about having the strength to own who you are, so when you look at the reflection, you do so with pride."

💓 (me, not Jason :) )

I'm so glad that he did not make this his SP, and instead, is able to invest in it as an exhibition.

Melancholy is on YouTube, at least for now.

Just mesmerizing. And Jason is at the point in his career where Tara and Johnny are quiet and offer nothing but superlatives.
A master class, indeed.

It's such a beautiful piece. The camera work wasn't perfect, but it's lovely to be able to watch him skate it. I enjoyed that exhibition very much. I thought that Hawayek and Baker skated their Swan better than I've ever seen them do it. Everyone was relaxed and skating for the cameras and the audience at home.

Love this performance and Hawayek and Baker skated beautifully.

There's some nice Jason related content in the new article on Rohene.

A quote (there are more in the article)
When they train, Ward stands near the device that plays music over the rink's speakers. If Brown makes a mistake, Ward yells, "Again!" The music stops and Brown begins the program again.

It's why Brown relates to the 2004 movie Miracle.

Before Brown left for Las Vegas for the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, he teleconference Ward to show how much he improved his short program, Nina Simone's "Sinnerman," choreographed by Ward.

He almost expected "Again!" to break through the phone's speakers.
