Lets see these 2 great skaters skate and enjoy that. They have maturity and artistry that the younger girls don't quite have yet. Sure they can't jump with the phenoms but theyre skating is still something to see and we want to see even if it's not in a competition.Dont know why the other poster thinks its funny, but I think it's going to be a stark reminder of how uncompetitive they truly are in comparison to the ladies in the jump competition. Though we'll probably be subjected to some of their uber fans swearing right and left that they are still a threat for making the Olympic team which will be a bit humorous to see the uber fans make that stretch.
Of course not.I don't know her reasons, but I though it was funny too, so I can give you my reasons.
I simply thought using the title captain for skaters that are doing only exhibitions was funny.
No hate was intended, at least from my side.![]()
Super Sasha gets it done even at home.I just saw a clip of Sasha training at home during quarantine 9 months ago:

It looks really cool that she has what looks like a training studio at home. But it also reminded me that not everyone has these kinds of facilities to train in.

I don’t think in the quad era, where Russia has several quad and 3A jumping girls, Russian Federation would opt to send Alina or Evgenia who don’t have that technical arsenal. So it’s not something to stretch, it’s quite obvious already that Russian Olympic team will consist only of ladies jumping multiple quads and/or 3A. It was obvious a year or two ago as well, that it’s nearly impossible to compete for the top without quads.Dont know why the other poster thinks its funny, but I think it's going to be a stark reminder of how uncompetitive they truly are in comparison to the ladies in the jump competition. They weren’t on the participants list. So I guess anyone who thinks it’s “funny” they aren’t skating competitively are just laughing at their own misunderstanding?I don't know her reasons, but I though it was funny too, so I can give you my reasons.

Are we really going there again? Ok, here's a reality check.Of course. If they had identical rules(Quads in SP, 1.0 PCS factor instead of 0.8) I have no doubt that girls would actually outperform boys in a straight up competition anyway.
At junior nationals, it's possible that'll happen even without them having identical rules.

And Alina and Evgenia should just crawl into a hole until they can do quads, change the format of the team competition so that the captains can participate, and then help their respective team winI think you're also taking my reaction too seriously.
Just because I think other skaters should have been captains, doesn't mean I'm hating on Evgenia or Alina
It’s just a silly thing to nitpick when everything about this competition is completely made up.Recognizing the likely scenario isn't "bashing".Are we really going there again? Ok, here's a reality check.
It's not like it's such a big achievement. How many of these girls are able to "outperform" the boys when they are 17+?The girls are being "more consistent" because they cheat on half of their jumps, especially the "quads".
And yes, people will remind you of this reality as long as you keep bashing male skaters just for the sake to make girls look better.![]()
I don't think it was meant this way.And Alina and Evgenia should just crawl into a hole until they can do quads, change the format of the team competition so that the captains can participate, and then help their respective team winIt’s just a silly thing to nitpick when everything about this competition is completely made up.
This is true. Very nice technique. Her problems are the lack of speed and not much jump height. I think she's been improving these things, but she needs to continue in that path. Hopefully we see more improvements next week.I like Elizaveta Berestovskaya's lutz and flip. It is not exactly the minimal pre-rotation technique of Yuna, Yuzuru, Nathan, Boyang, Kolyada, Carolina and Alexia Paganini but it resembles it a lot.
Berestovskaya has very clear outside lutz edge
Her lutz and flip jumps are 1000 percent purely toe pick assisted. Never seen something like this before. A true ballerina!
Her pre-rotation is not excessive at all

I never really noticed that before so thank you! The Lutz rreally is perfection the flip looks kind of flat similair to most skaters with great Lutzes. Whenever we speak of her its ususally about her 4T which looks so small and "whippy" so I never really looked into the other jumps to much. She is still young so I hope she can get her 4T to similair standard as her 3Lz. (And hopefully also work some more on her speed and glide to match the two Sofias and Adelya)I like Elizaveta Berestovskaya's lutz and flip. All these kinds of commentaries completely ignore female and male anatomy differences, and devalue achievements young girls are capable of.Are we really going there again? Ok, here's a reality check.

When is this competition?Well, I guess this answered my question about Maiia potentially being at Junior Nationals
Also Veronika An in the KMC category.
And how excited we are for Sinitsyna!
This! I for one am just happy to see some skating, and the fact that it features my beloved Russian skaters is the cherry on top!People will say Russian ladies need a pro-circuit because there are so many past and present talents, and then when something like a pro competition arises, we have people hating on the “uncompetitive” girls for participating in some form![]()
It’s friendly competition. Don’t think the scores matter. A fun time will be had by all, including us viewers.Guys, I know we all love our Russian girls, but do you think they could beat the guys fo real?![]()
February 1-3.When is this competition?
It is a friendly fun competition, but I think that the boys will feel some pressure here. Their opponents aren't exactly push-overs, but at the same time, it would be embarrasing to lose to them. It’s friendly competition. Don’t think the scores matter. But, it won’t hurt to have Liza on the boards when it’s the men’s turn to jump. Run a little friendly distraction. Haha
