~shrugs~ Just because they're on doesn't mean I have to condone the ISU's choice by watching them.

So I won't.

But does it matter, if you're not giving them any money? The performances will exist anyway and there's always streams to watch, or videos afterwards on non-ISU channels.

Unless people are afraid of them and want to duck them, and not have to face them. What kind of athlete ducks their better competitors?
Well, I think the idea was less about being afraid of Russian ladies then about having consequences for Rostelecom. Apparently, pretty much every rule the ISU set down for GPs was broken during it. Although, the ISU dropped the ball by not saying anything at the time...

I hope Team Russia is on their best behaviour in the bubble though! It would be sad if they got kicked out for breaching the rules. Perhaps coaches from all countries should have their masks secured to their faces by surgical tape upon entry to the rink

Also am I the only one who :palmf: a bit when people pull their masks down beneath their chin to talk then pull it back up again? It's like a huge no-no and a great way to contaminate yourself. Remove the mask from one ear holding the loop then place it back when finished, never touch the front of the mask! Perhaps a mask wearing lesson should also be required on entrance to the bubble.

He competed at Ice Star this season which I believe counts for his minimums
This season? Really?

BTW, Skatesocs, why did you laugh at someone that way who was only seriously checking things out on this thread without any ill will? :frown:

Because it's funny that someone might not even have the qualification scores needed this season because there was barely a season  it's going to be a problem with some others too this season. The ISU seriously need to give this more thought.

Vincent Zhou and Knierim/Frazier don’t have their minimums so they fit right in that

I think (but I wouldn‘t bet money on it) that 2 things will happen: the Russian contingent will be better behaved since this event is not at home. And everyone from the other countries will be avoiding them in, and out of, the rink religiously. Hahaha

It would be a waste of time and a real shame if they can’t see the event through because of a breakout.

And, if the mask lesson is how to wear it like an earring, the Russians can teach that class no problem.

All joking aside, there needs to be a total team effort and a commitment from everyone if this is to go off without a hitch. A successful, incident free, event benefits everyone; it shows that you can run events safely. More countries will be more willing to run them going forward. And that benefits everyone.

1. I'll be able to live with myself in good conscience, which matters to me.
2. I have no intention of watching archived streams or videos, even on non-ISU channels, even after the event, even if Jason Brown unexpectedly wins the small gold by scoring 115 in the SP without a quad.
3. As they do pay attention to things like numbers of livestream viewers, I will make a small but tangible impact by making that number smaller than it would otherwise have been.

The standard you walk past is the standard you accept, and I can't accept this, so I won't walk past.

Minimums normally counts for 2 season if i´m not mistaken? In that case Zhou has the minimums from WC 2019 and he should all be good.

The 2 seasons you are thinking of includes the current season (2020-21), and one season prior (2019-20).
His WC 2019 belongs to the 2018-19 season, and thus does not count.

I don't know why this subject did not get resolved during the ISU meeting few days ago. What are they waiting on?

Oh yes you are totally right :drama: They should really resolve the problem yes ASAP. This season can hardly count in that matter, they should include the 2018-19 season as well.

If I had to guess, they're probably going to be finalizing information and will be releasing updates on the bubble system, travel bans, etc. along with the minimums issue in a few days or weeks.

Correct, only watch the ladies. All the other disciplines, I watched maybe 10 minutes total in my whole life.

I keep forgetting that this is an ice skating forum and not a ladies ice skate forum.

Have no idea about the other disciplines, and I don‘t want to know. Ignorance is bliss. Haha

I love figue skating. There is something for everyone.

For instance, your favorite discipline is the one I currently have the least intererest.

But I'll still watch. I'm always hopeful that someone will deliver a really special and memorable program. You should give the others a try.

To be clear, I don’t have anything against the other disciplines.

I certainly like that there is something for everyone.

I am happy that the worlds are taking place for all the skaters.
