As much as I love Sofia Samodelkina, yeah, that should've been 3A+COMBO.

But funny that some people say stuff like "CSKA bonus" when Tsibinova and Frolova were underscored IMO.

To an extent I wonder if its domestic judging rewarding juniors for trying those more difficult elements to encourage them to continue working at them; to avoid any fan wars starting I'll just leave it a generic comment that I feel there are a few junior skaters who have gotten generous calls for their difficult elements.

And they overlooked others skater's flat Lutz edges as well, some from Sambo :)
Maybe, i don't know all Sambo skaters competed today, but for example both Akatieva and Petrosyan lutz edge were better comparing to Frolova. From the top 6 skaters, i think i gave a comment (in the competition thread) only about Anna's edge, so only that one looked clearly flat to me.

Could that be her little sister who is probably 9 years old?

I don't like how the Russian federation has botched this Corona virus disaster with their athletes especially the pair skaters of which they have 2 or 3 world class teams like got sick. Now we're gonna have girls trying to jump to be boys and doing something different than their normal programs and that's risky business. Good luck winning elaborate gold if Anya or Kamila blow out a knee doing this bullship jumping competition.

Keep your fingers crossed disaster does not strike. Remember no one is in normal February form because of the pandemic and asking them to do other things but they never do I bank is risky business.
No, its Veronika Zhilina. She competed just a few hours ago at junior nationals.

The competition today was nice, but nothing you haven‘t seen before. As much as I criticize her - if Kamila had been here, she‘d probably have looked like in another league with that SP of hers.

Muravieva was good, a welcome surprise. She is still too frantic for me in her movements but she‘s improved A LOT since junior test skates, so I give her credit for that. She was also one of the few who really performed today, so I can see why they put her in first. I‘m not a fan of her jumps, though, her air position sometimes looks sloppy. I‘m also not sure that this unexpected placement will do her any good tomorrow - it‘s a hard position to be in and one that she isn‘t used to yet. I hope she can deal with the inevitable pressure one way or another. It‘s unlikely that she‘ll win Gold or podium anyway, so she should just focus on what she can control.

Akatieva defied physics with the way she hung onto that 3A and then managed to put on a flawless rippon (!) 3T! Amazing stuff. Other than that, she was clearly nervous and there wasn‘t much of a performance to speak of today. But she‘s in a difficult position - not even internationally junior eligible and already the ”team leader“ for this competition and expected to win Gold. Taking that into consideration, she did really well. The rest will come with time. For this event, she‘s still clearly the favorite.

Petrosyan is one of my two personal favorites at this event and after less than stellar performances from the expected leaders, I was hoping she could pull ahead. But alas, her jumps were a little too shaky for that and she kind of messed up the last position in her layback. But she‘s well positioned for a medal, so I‘ll have my fingers crossed.

Samodelkina always leaves me conflicted. On the one hand, I appreciate her maturity and musicality on the ice, on the other hand, her posture and carriage drive me crazy. She constantly looks down and the way she hunches her shoulders...yeah, not a fan and one of the reasons I prefer Akatieva. She also seemed very nervous today and that 3A+3T should have gotten the +COMBO. But if she delivers tomorrow, she‘ll still have a chance at victory.

Berestovskaia is cute as a button. Probably my favorite performance. She radiates such joy - give her all the points in presentation! Her lutz technique is pretty nice, too, but overall her jumps are rather low. She‘s also pretty slow across the ice.

Osokina continues to be underscored. For those who cried about CSKA inflation - Osokina‘s a Buyanova skater and yet the only one in the top 8 to get an edge call. Deserved, perhaps, but generally, there were lots of calls missed, so it‘s not as clear cut.

Overall, she wasn‘t as energetic and sassy as she can be and her combo kind of problematic, so I wouldn‘t have her among the top 5. But her presentation and skating skills are still really good and she doesn‘t get rewarded for any of it. I do wish she dropped the 3F+3T, though, she always loses flow on the landing. She did a nice 3Lo+3T at test skates in the FS, why not go for that?

Zhilina... I just hope she didn‘t injure herself because that fall looked rough. She will need a lot to happen to make the podium tomorrow, but I do hope for her to come back with a good FS.

As for the rest: there‘s a blonde girl in a brown dress (don’t remember her name...) that had a nice performance. Problematic jumps but charismatic performer.

What is the Adelia Spin? I don't see anything in her spins that hasn't been done before.
Are you sure you don‘t mean the Adelina spin, as in, Adelina Sotnikova? Because that would be the one that always looks like it hurts your hips big time.

I think it‘s the one starting at 1:56

I don't see any chance for a Zhilina medal. Not even with a clean skate tomorrow. Her difficulty level is not that much higher (or what is her layout?). She's got 12-14 points to catch up the top five and surely at least 3 of those 5 will be good tomorrow.

Totally!

Totally! And I think this is still nothing comparing to her ubercute FP..

And how often has she been clean? I confess to not paying much attention to competitions lower than the junior level, but it seems like she's rarely been clean at the junior level.
