Y'all should have seen my face when I heard Ted's voice come on and I remembered he was commentating 😖 His best moments: almost quitting his job over Akatieva's name and declaring "all the way around" during the slow-mo of her clearly under rotated triple axel.
Akatieva was good, a decent performer if not outstanding, nice save on the triple toe, probably deserved an edge call on the lutz.
Muravyeva reminds me of Radionova, a little over the top with the arms but I was totally here for the performance, interpretation, and emotion. Her shoulders get really high on the jumps though.
Petrosyan is also a natural performer, which I appreciate, but that double axel was very low and had a scary inside edge landing, probably should have gotten less GoE. Not sure about the lutz edge.
Samoldelkina doesn't leave me with much of an impression as far as performance, great double axel, was very close on the triple, does have the posture issue Fluture mentioned.
Beretovskaya's lack of extension was really hard to watch throughout the whole program, but her lutz-cabriole was wonderful.
Tsibinova was by far the most beautiful to watch, really looked like a senior lady, it's never the skaters like her with the strongest jumps unfortunately :(
Zhilina was tough, has no chance at the podium tomorrow. Will probably never be a performer and another scary inside edge landing on the double axel. I'm wondering, since she didn't do a combination, shouldn't one of her elements have received zero credit?

But she went clean and has been really consistent this entire season? She also has good lutz and flip technique with good prerotation? I think she actually has really strong jumps, and she isn't rewarded for that.

I assume by good prerotation you mean minimal prerotation? You're right that she is a strong jumper, I just meant in the Russian field as it currently is, she's probably not a threat without ulta-C elements. And good technique is worth less than bad technique most of the time.

I enjoyed Sofia Muravieva the most. Her step sequence was just sublime! And the transitions in and out of the jumps are done with such great quality. The spins, too, are just great. Her air position is not great and I do hope she can fix that.

I also really enjoyed Adelya. Her spins were just so good. I would honestly give both of them +5 (not the layback because it was iffy today). Her jumps though, were a bit scratchy. Especially the 2A. I do like this program but I feel like she wasn't performing as much as I wish she would.

Liza Berestovskaya was just so charming! Obviously her speed is an issue and the skating skills are still a bit weak and her jumps don't get great height, but her performance today was great! She really throws herself in character and performs from beginning to end.

Sofia Samodelkina didn't have the best day jump-wise but she is still one of my absolute favorites. Somehow I don't even dislike this short program that much anymore. She makes it work. Her posture could obviously be better but she has great maturity and musicality IMO.

I don't really like Sofia Akatieva's SP as much, especially the step sequence. It works fine, but I feel like she deserves better choreo. Amazing that she was able to save that 3A and add a 3T though. In comparison to the other four, I feel like she still has a bit of a junior-ish feel to her skating but honestly she's just a great full package nonetheless.

Liza Osokina's SP is still a delight, but she still hasn't really gotten back to test skates form. Nonetheless, she performed the step sequence so well!

I enjoyed Anna Frolova and Ksenia Tsibinova as well. Both have such a lovely mature quality to their skating and great skating skills as well. Just looking at their shorts, Tsibinova really shone today. I think it was the most composed and elegant short of the day.

I'm gutted for Veronika Zhilina though, a rough 3A fall. But I hope she can get redemption in the free.

It's a mystery until you realize it's a CSKA skater, then it all makes perfect sense.

That one should of course be a 3A+COMBO with reduced bv and without counting the +3T but CSKA gonna CSKA.
Not trying to start a fight here but genuine question:
Hadn't this thread decided that Sambo/Eteri are the bribing monsters whose skaters get undeserved bonus over everyone else and if you leave her you get punished? Now it's CSKA as well?

It's all of them.

It's kind of silly to believe all the camps don't engage in their own politics.

Nobody delivered the ballot paper to me

Or someone. Isn't her mom coaching her, instead of even Plushenko? Was her mom a skater?
Yes. Her mom. However, the results are not spectacular.
Agreed. But she is so young and so spectacular we have to give her time to develop and grow.
She was better with Rozanov. Plus, who wants to quit working with Rozanov? He is sooo good looking. Less beauty in their lives, I guess. :D

Odd that Sofia M's step sequence went down a level. Does anyone here understand step sequence levels and have the time to explain why?
Oh no it did? 😞That's such a bummer! I was really pleased to see a level 4.

And yes, does anyone know why it lost a level?

Kostornaia withdraws from team event 😳😳😳:

As expected. When Maiia disappeared from the list of the other competition last week the rumours that she would replace Aliona started and looks like it was true.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :tantrum:

it seems her chances of making the world team get slimmer and slimmer...
I think it’s because of her new FS, there probably wasn’t enough time to learn it properly...
This cup is a commercial fun event, sponsored by a TV channel, I don’t think Rusfed considers it as a selection.
Hopefully Aliona will have enough time to prepare for Russian Cup Final, where I assume they would decide whether it’s her or Liza.

Just to confirm... Did she for sure change it? This post claims differently:
