Is it, though? Sasha and Anna are 17 this year, and they are still winning over Daria and Maiia. Kamila is the only 14 yo here, and I'd say physically she's bigger (not the right word but maybe more curvy? Developed isn't the correct term either because not having curves doesn't make you less of a developed woman) than Sasha and Anna. She doesn't look like a typical 14 year old figure skater. She's taller, not very thin, but also not pure muscle - she has a fat/muscle ratio in between. Anna kind of has a disadvantage - she's thin but that also means she doesn't build muscle easily, like Evgenia. And Anna also has long limbs and wide hips for her frame which usually isn't great for jumping. She's definitely going through puberty this season.

You're always going to have different body types in skating. If you're gifted like Sasha, you will be able to build extremely lean muscle and be very strong but still have proportionate limbs and hips that aren't too wide. She has probably the most ideal body type I've seen, except for her flexibility. But genetics will always play a role in sports, and it's the biggest contributor when training conditions are the same.
It's a bit disingenuous to say they're 17 but Kamila's 14. Anna will turn 17 in March, Kamila will turn 15 in April, Daria will turn 15 in May, and Sasha will turn 17 in June. They're two years apart not three.

Some are saying Anna two footed several jumps. I didn’t notice, but I guess I should re watch, if possible

I rewatched and the only jump that looked suspiciously two-footed to me is the lutz on the Lz+loop combination, none of the jumps they replayed looked problematic.

Though I noticed this - as much dislike as Yagudin earns for himself and Daniil/Eteri get, at the end of Shcherbakova's skate, when she's clearly not doing okay, a combination of Yagudin stepping away from Shcherbakova with the microphone and Daniil keeping himself in between her and the camera to block her to let her compose herself was a class move I hadn't noticed till I watched the replay looking for the 2 footed landings https://youtu.be/Ofn7aUqzICA?t=326

hope Anna gets motivated by this... not even a huge Anna stan but it was heartbreaking to see her so shaken after Kamila's skates. I don't think I've ever seen her so affected even when she had breakdown skates or lost to Aliona or Alexandra in previous seasons. Maybe I'm the only one who noticed this, but she seemed visibly out of it after Kamila's sp yesterday and really down when they were taking pictures after the fs today. Maybe it's the fact that the Olympics is so near, or just something psychologically different about being chased by a younger rival...

It also could be she's just not completely healthy and not able to attempt what she wants. She's done a clean 3 quad program before.

I honestly think it's more that she was able to do this skate cleanly at nationals and couldn't here. (Anna might have won if she had done her nationals skate here.) She lost points for singling the 3Lo and a hand down on the 4F. (And she definitely would have won the FS.)

It's also that unlike against Sasha she can't afford mistakes here as Kamila can match her in PCS. But even that's not new. Anna needed three quads and to be perfect to beat Aliona with 3 3As). I think it's more that it's not in her hands because she can't do her full skate yet. (Even at nationals she was nonchalant about her skate because she was like I've done more quads before.) I think it's more that it's hard for Anna to not be able to upgrade yet - probably because they're being careful with her and she is still getting better.

I think for Worlds, if Alena comes back with just one 3A they'll definitely send her instead of Liza. But what if she's completely clean, no UR, and level 4 spins? At Rostelecom, she only lost to Liza by 3 points, and that's with URs and other issues. If she cleans those up and does a normal triple and 2A layout, based on the scores this season, I think she will go above Liza at the cup final. It sucks for Liza who now always seems to miss out on Worlds at the cup final, but I think the federation would go with Alena if she was in her junior form without 3As?

If Tuktamysheva has a similar performance at the Cup final with a popped triple axel 1 day and several little errors on her jumps like she had here, I think they'll send Kostornaia with no triple axel to Worlds. Kostornaia is a better PCS skater and the layout that Tuktamysheva does requires her to really be perfect to be competitive with the other top ladies in Russia.

Yup, there is ofc that too, but the way she sat clapping looking stunned at the end of Kamila's sp and then even moreso when the score came out just got to me 😟
She's had less clean skates before at even bigger competitions where she, at least on the outside, looked to be in a better state emotionally than she did here at a competition intended to just mainly be for fun. I wonder if the sp results with a younger teammate on top with a monster score put extra pressure on Anna for the free, which led her to look so upset by what I think was not such a bad skate

Yeah. Although that was Kamila's reaction at RusNats and Sasha's both here and and RusNats. (And Sasha's all of last year.) I think it's more just disappointment in not skating clean and not being perfect. And coming second when you wanted to be first is never fun.

Yeah, I'm probably just reading way too much into it. Started warming up to Anna this season and wish her all the success

Can I just get some clarification: what is the basis for the hope that Dasha will get a triple axel? Is it only that we have seen the 2A and it is gorgeous and big? I'm just trying to remember, was there any statement made by her in an interview that she was working on it? A statement from the Eteri camp? (Or a statement from anyone that she is not working on it?) I'm pretty sure we haven't seen a video.

Just curious if anyone knows the facts on this one.

Not that we aren't allowed to speculate/encourage when it comes to triple axels! Again, just curious.
Her FS program starts with a 2A, so it looks like a placeholder for a 3A in development. But nothing official has been said, I believe.

Sasha is insane in the best of ways. To throw down that 4T in the second half is just madness. I'm going to go out and say it now, I think Sasha will have the longevity that so many like to crow about. Those jumps are here to stay, she loves to jump. If the injuries stay away I see no reason why she won't last long in this sport. She ain't going to lose those jumps anytime soon.

Kamila...wow. I think I said once if she gained another Ultra element it would be game over. She just needs to stay healthy. That's all I want for her. I'm not even remotely worried about her losing jumps.

Had to giggle at Alina's expressions during Kamila's skate. I think Alina is really worried about her skaters falling which is so adorable! It's like she's imagining their pain and wincing even though they haven't fallen. I've never seen her so stressed before.

Russian Cup Final will be exciting for sure. Trusova is a lock for Worlds I think...

The battle will be between Kostornaia/Tuktamysheva. I don't expect Kostornaia to have her 3A back so it might be close.

And it's not impossible that Sinitsyna show up, score around 225-230 and beat them both. A clean Sinitsyna is always exquisite and deserves all the praise she can get.
