Yeah I feel that. For me classy and simple go hand in hand. One of my favorite competition dresses was Gubanova’s Summertime Blue Dress. I couldn’t believe the amount of criticism it received. For me it’s the definition of a classy look that avoids looking cluttered or too glitzy. Look nice but leave plenty of room for your skating to be take center stage.

Her R&J dress was also on point. Classy color, simple design. Not to mention her R&J program was probably my favorite among ladies. I still rewatch her skate from jgpf. I miss Gubanova so much!!

I hope they're sensible with Sasha next year. I doubt they'll keep the Romeo and Juliet, I dont think its gotten rave reviews. I've said I hope they keep the short and keep working on her facial expressions, no need to start from square one again. For the long, I would ditch the attempt at elegance because she's going to be focused on her jumps no matter what. I'd just go for full on dynamic and let her do her thing.
I want a Game of Survival short so bad! She's proven this season that she can do elegance but honestly I don't think that's the best move for her. She is doing well in this Love Story short and she's grown into a lovely artist but compare it to Daria or Anna (or Kamila or Alyona), she still doesn't have the lead in elegance. She does, however, have the lead in powerful and dynamic programs. Thus far I don't see the other big competitors, save for Alyona, being able to do something like the Kill Bill SP or the Fifth Element FS. They need to play with that more.

And if everyone skates to something lovely and nice for the short, seeing something powerful and commanding like Game of Survival will be an eye-opener and will instantly draw viewers to the jumping rocket that is Sasha Trusova.

Agree! I think Sasha could look at Rika's SP this season, and even the Beautiful Storm FS (always appreciate Rika's variety in choice of music). That said, I think Sasha's problem, same for most Russian ladies, is not getting the right choice of music but getting good choreography...

Trigger Warning: When is the last time a Russian lady skated to Pas de Deux? I remember Julia skating to it back in her early days but has anyone done a notable version since?

Nothing wrong with a timeless classic from time to time IMO.

I always enjoy classics. Liza Nugumanova has skated to Pas de Deux and many classy programs. Imo she resembles the term "classic" so well and so beautifully.

The problem is that she doesnt get to be a jumping rocket in the short because they dont allow quads. She'll be doing the same jumps as everyone else, possibly with a triple axel. Thats why I say just try not to get too behind on PCS in the short, and save the cool music for the long when she can let loose. But that's just my take, I hear your point too. I've always had a wild idea that she should skate to My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark by Fall Out Boy 😵

That would be so fun!! I still think she needs a fire packed SP too. Like every year I’ve been begging for her to do “Carmen Suite II : Dance” and I’m always catching grief for it.

Like I know it’s “another Carmen” but I can see her owning every second of it.

You mentioned that she generated drama before Readernick said that people here generated drama, and it sounds like you don't like Medvedeva for generating drama, but you don't mind the 'drama' that people here are generating. What if they are the same drama? She can't generate all that drama by herself, so perhaps if the people here cease their contribution there will be no drama.

That said, if you like participating in 'drama', then by all means do so.

In all seriousness, everyone has equal rights to discuss their viewpoints. You have a right to say that Medvedeva is being rude and others have a right to say that she's being over/misinterpreted. But it sounds like you're telling people to stay out of the conversation because they have a different opinion from yours while simultaneously accusing them of the same thing. That said, I might be overinterpreting your words.
She did generate drama. Or controversy might be more accurate. There is nothing but drama as a result of that press conference. In the Russian media, on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc. With or without Alina's response there would have been drama. But she did answer back. She could have remained silent. I'm glad she chose not to. That is just my opinion. Other people here have a completely different opinion. Her answer also generated drama. But that is why it's being discussed.

Among other things, I didn't like Zhenya being rude. Interrupting Alina, twice, was snide and unnecessary. This is just my opinion. I did like Alina's answering back. My reaction was 'thank God she finally stood up for herself and stopped taking other people's crap.' Also thank God she is finally in a position to be able to do so. I realize that not everyone agrees with me. I'm fine with that.

You are definitely misinterpreting my words. I am absolutely not telling anyone to stay out of any conversation. No matter what their opinion might be. Maybe I could have phrased it better - If you don't like a conversation you are not required to participate in it or even read it. I used the example of black tights. I have nothing to contribute on that subject and I don't care, so I just scroll on by. What I don't do is post about how tedious it is to read about tights and would people please stop posting about things I don't care about.

I don't know if I personally define a back and forth on a message board as drama. It's just a conversation. A discussion. An argument. That anyone can opt out of at any time or completely ignore.

You suggesting people 'cease their contribution' reads a lot like 'stop responding'. That probably isn't what you meant. If that is what you meant then my response to that is - No.

The current set of rules is clearly not to her benefit. It caps her jumping in the short, allowing only 3A, which is the hardest jump for her.
Thus it gives advantage to Rika, Kamila, Aliona and others.

I really wonder how things would look if quads were allowed in SP, say, next cycle? Because I think it might turn things around for Sasha. She’d be able to jump reliable quads like her 4Lz and 4T, while her closest rivals probably will only do 1 quad and 1 3A. So it will give her a very big tes advantage.
Although Anna will probably do 2 quads as well then.

Yes, I think you mean edea. I'm not a huge fan of their clunky boots either  I'm also very happy that both Anna and Sasha ditched their half over the boot tights. I'm so shallow about stuff like that
Next step is to get some white boots for Sasha. Ive never liked tan boots. Or thights that cover the boots for that matter.

Perhaps, but doing quads in the SP is very risky. None of these ladies ( and very few men) have the consistency on quads that quarentees they will score well if they put them in the SP. Falling on a quad in the LP can be overcome through a very high BV, but falling on a quad or two in the SP will leave you far down the standings. Case and point 2019 Worlds where Jason Brown was second place in the SP without quads. Falling on a 3A will of course have a bad effect on your score but since you are replacing a very low scoring jump (2A) a fall will not have the same effect as a fall on a quad would. The SP really favors skaters with really high quality elements across the board. This is why the skaters who you mentioned above are favored ( as is Jason Brown). I think Sasha would be smart to really work on making her 3A consistent and continuing to improve her quality and artistry. That matters a lot in the SP. In the LP, BV rules.

It is true that SP rewards consistency but for Sasha I think at least replacing the 3F with a 4T would be a good idea. The 4T has been stable enough for two seasons now and since the judges have decided to start calling her 3F edge that jump needs to go from the short program anyway. Possibly even replace it with a 3Lo for now.

Nice dress. Why would it received criticism?

Nastya did my favorite R & J in recent years.
I wish Little Liza would skate to R & J next season.

I also love the Romeo and Juliet free skates from Julia and Sasha Cohen.
