Alena Kostornaia

I tend to think the more beautiful the jumps are, the less likely are injuries. I am sure when she has her 3A back, whether in time for a spot at Worlds 21 or not, she will go on to add a 4S, because she's unlikely to medal (let alone win) at Beijing with "just" a 3A. But I am sure too, hers will be a beauty, like her 3A. (And, if she has a solid 4S, solo and combo, at her FS, all is possible.)
3A and 4S? She would be so hard to beat.

Since Aliona isn’t fully recovered and probably just hasn’t worked on 3A that much, do you guys think they will put her on the world team without it (I really would love all the 3A at worlds since last years was cancelled— even though I’m a little concerned with the safety precautions and such for this year😬)

Also, is the Russian cup final about 2 weeks from now?

I think RusFed will put her on the world team without a 3A if she has fully rotated jumps and has regained her skating skills/artistry. I think they will not put her on the team if those things don't happen and Liza hits her 3A's.

And yea, the Russian Cup Final is about 2 weeks from now: February 26 - March 2

I worry more about her health at this point than the world team. She looked seriously out of breath at the end of that step sequence and that was, presumably, after only completing the SP. Covid can have long-lasting effects and for an athlete‘s career, it‘s especially dangerous. Right now, I just hope she will be able to work her way up slowly to peak next season. She really had some terrible luck this year...

Oh yeah, I’m definitely way more worried about her health, especially after seeing that video (I’m really happy her and her team have put health first and have withdrawn from competitions though). It’s really unfortunate that covid effected her the way it did. I hope that if she isn’t ready for the Russian cup final, she puts her health first again and does what’s necessary. Maybe at this point it might be better to just not push herself training with the intent of going to worlds, and instead slowly work up her endurance for the Olympic season (although I love her Billie Eilish short and would love to see it again at some point).

Just wondering, has she ever trained a 4S? Where is all the 4S talk coming from?
Like others said already, she was training her quad Sal in 2019 according to Danil's interview. I was really looking forward to it at the time and made a cheesy compilation of her triple Sals after Nats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCEyEvLaCek
Her air position was visibly loosened since DOI and we saw the same pattern with her 2A before her 3A came out.

Can also be that this was filmed at the end of the training session, and she might have just been doing her last run through?
Im hoping for the best, but I understand why you worry, since I’ve seen and know that with Covid things can go dramatically bad, even causing heart problems for athletes in some cases.

Let’s see how she does at Cup Final, I would think rusfed has still their hopes on Aliona’s recovery and her regaining her 3A, judging by Lakernik personally checking on her, and if Aliona gives them a decent performance (even without 3A) they’re going to send her.

Then she can use the off season to work on it again, and will have more time to incorporate it in her programs

And after 2020 Russian Nationals, Danill also said she landed 4S in the morning practice and she wanted to insert it in FP but coaches disagreed
I don’t know if it was at this competition that she was asked about it, but an interviewer asked why she decided to start with the 4S and she responded that she started with the 3S when she learned her triples so why not start with the 4S to learn quads.

I can't help but notice that there's not a lot of one-foot skating in it though... I think a lot of the poses can be done on one foot so I don't really understand this choreographic decision unless it's been simplified to help with health issues.
That has been difficult to understand the whole season.
Last year I remember Aliona as the most efficient and beutiful one foot skater of the pack.
I know my eyes are heartshaped when I look at her, but I could not totally made up that sensation in my mind.

At the moment, we haven't seen her skating with merely three months training since her last long off-ice period. At test skates other Russian skaters had 3½ months training since confinement (except Anastasia Tarakanova). We will see how she fares at the Cup of Russia final, I hope so much she will get a spot at Worlds, and then she will have had those 3½ months practice. I'm sure she hasn't lost her skating skills, just these are very difficult exercises and they need a lot of training, and no off-ice training can compensate.
If she cannot get a spot, then we will see her next season.

that's really disappointing.
I was convinced they had a serious setup on both sides when doing this (big screens, High definition cameras with an operator when she skates etc)
Anyway when she giggles she lifts me up, and I can't help smiling.
The phone doesn’t bother me as much, I honestly thought they were done with choreo back when Lakernik visited her, and he gave his comment on a finished program.
On the video it looks like it is still being choreographed, and Cup Final is 2 weeks away.
I wonder if this is an older video that just got posted now, or perhaps SLB is just making some finishing touches?

It concerns me as well. I hope that's an older video. Otherwise, ugh I don't know how they plan to deliver some performance on par with the Eteri army in 2 weeks.

The information is incorrect. Sasha was in Don Quixote. This photo here is older (from the beginning of January) and has now probably only been published because a lot of crap was thrown at Plushenko again on the usual channels for going to the Bolshoi with Sasha and without Alyona.
