I'd really have to check for examples on YouTube for the lower level combos, but I know Rohene Ward was rumored to practice a 3Lz+3Lz! IDK the credibility. But he certainly did have both the CCW 3Lz and CW 3Lz (I was recently reading his Fan Fest for example videos, so I know for sure he had both jumps, but alas, no examples of the combo, so no idea if it's anything more than a rumour). It seems more of a recreational thing than competitive one though.

I do think it'll look beautiful though! I am pretty sure Sonja Henie or someone did do 1Lz in the opposite direction too.

Amazing! Thanks for reminding me of Rohene Ward - what a great skater! I remember being enchanted by some of his competition skates around the Salt Lake Olympics which is when I started following skating more closely. I'll have to go back and watch some of his videos.

Edit: And thanks for the links!

I used to know someone who had a +1Lz, lol, but haven't spoken to them in a really long time haha

Are we expecting there to be 12 skaters (two groups)? Time constraints suggest so.

As someone who's taken turns liking all of the 3A and now am just tired, I'd say all three of those skaters get enough mud thrown at them on this thread. Naturally, if you're a Sasha fan, the criticisms toward Sasha will get under your skin more and you'll think that she gets criticized the most here. Same for fans of Anna, Aliona, Alina, Zhenya, and even Kamila. So there's no need to be thinking that one skater is the most criticized and doubted because every relevant top skater has their turn playing that role here.
I definitely agree with this. Same with Liza. And for that matter all their coaches too. Everyone takes things personally and has trouble looking objectively at things that concern their favourite skater. (Or in some cases their least favourite skater.) However, I will say Anna is the only one who has a poster dedicated to hating and critiquing everything she does, well beyond just her skating, and bringing it up regardless of what the topic is at the time. Although, I will definitely acknowledge that they have all been criticized an undue amount.

About Dmitriev's 3Lz+3F. He had to land the Lutz on the wrong foot to be able to do that. As I understand it, the ISU stated that that was ok. So I guess it's possible to do a 3Lz+3Lz in the same direction, you just need to land the first one on the wrong foot.

About the National Team next year. I don't know about Alina, but I'm pretty sure Zhenya will not give up her spot. And I am not so sure what I think about that. It means that one very promising skater, probably Sinitsyna, will not get the funding...and it breaks my heart as I know Zhenya is not that competitive anymore.

And that also impacts the GP spots. Alina and Zhenya should not get any GPs next season IMO, there are others more worthy.

Lutz-Lutz you can land on the same foot. Lutz starts on the outside edge, and lands on the outside edge. You just need to rotate the second Lutz in the opposite direction.

But it's just a waste of time so.

Was I asleep when Alena Kostornaya announced her retirement or...?
If Alena shows even only a clean program without 3A she will get 2 GP spots.
If she shows any landed 3A at all, there will be no question marks whatsoever about getting 2 GP spots.
No lol. I was just typing too many names. I thought I had already included her. Without a doubt she gets a spot.

Slutskaya about why wearing tights over the boots :)
I don't understand Russian, but I hope she's not saying that it helped her to extend the look of her already near perfect extension, line and toe point!! She was another skater who I thought was arrogant and whiney for no reason. She had the elegance of a truck driver, IMO!

The Channel One gala events was probably the best opportunity we had to assess Zhenya's and Alina's form right now.

I was legitimately impressed with Zhenya. It was just a gala program, but her skating didn't look at all labored, despite the health issues she's dealt with this season, and it was a pleasant reminder of how much her artistry has been missed.

Alina, on the other hand...I can only hope she protects her legacy and stays retired. Not to mention that it would upset a lot of fans to see her take away a spot from a young skater like, say, Kseniia.
I agree with this. Although if Alina can get back to competitive shape I actually don't have a problem with her taking away a spot from a young skater is she can beat them. I love Kseniia but she's also just getting back into competitive shape.

Did you mean competition practices? He was a phenomenal talent. In warm-up, he'd start off with a 3axel at a practical standstill and land beautiful huge solid 4toes at a time when MikePikeTM was barely landing his much smaller and almost always two-footed 4toes. But then after warming up the audience he'd go out and fall on EVERYTHING in the performance. *Sigh* I'm so glad he found his niche in skating as a choreographer to go to. He's just amazing.

Agree, I wish the Fed would do a skate-off midway through the offseason or something for the national team for the likes of Medvedeva, Zagitova, etc. that haven't competed this year and the best skaters from that skate off get assigned to the reserve national team and get priority for GP assignment

She gives three reasons:
1) optically prolonging legs;
2) covering potential boots damage;
3) Protecting the laces from untying.
That's what she says :)
