No word so far.is Ted commentating the final?
It's worth remembering that GP spots largely depend on ISU rankings and scores. I'm pretty sure that ISU will combine last season and this one to get their criteria. Alina and Evgenia are on both Top24 SB and WR lists, which guarantees them at least one spot - unless RusFed doesn't submit their names. But I don't see how Fed would do this if any of the two would want to compete - they are still the most popular Russian skaters. And that also impacts the GP spots. Alina and Zhenya should not get any GPs next season IMO, there are others more worthy.
Unfortunately you are right. And that also means that Samodurova is still in the game for GP spots, which is outrageous imo. The three of them will get spots ahead of probably Sinitsyna, Khromykh, Nugumanova. And the likes of Tsibinova, Frolova, Talalaikina has also no chance. It's worth remembering that GP spots largely depend on ISU rankings and scores. It's 7 months from now, and who knows who will be in top shape. I want Medvedeva, Kromykh, Nugumanova, Frolova, Talalikina to all get spots.Unfortunately you are right. Come GP assignments, I will probably be very disappointed...
Apparently, Melkumova switched to CSKA, while Dzepka changed coached within CSKA. Snowman is disappointed. It's now been over a year since Ksenia Melkumova(age 11, turning 12 soon) last skated, been out due to an injury.
If not seen, check out her SP from late 2019:

You don't see anyone else skate like this(Skating skills)
And hopefully she can continue her career and won't have lost that.

I think that at least one of the above mentioned left out of a spot in your prediction will get the Rostelecom host spot (so Samodurova only gets 1 spot). If Zagitova doesnt want to go (which I kind of expect) I think either Sinitsyna or Kromykh will fill her two spots Otherwise I agree with your estimate.Unfortunately you are right. Edit: Just to be clear, for now I'm pretty sure the GP spots will go to - Shcherbakova, Trusova, Kostornaia, Valieva, Usacheva, Tuktamysheva, Zagitova, Medvedeva, Samodurova. And they will all get two each...

I don't if he was bad, but the girl was falling all over the ice most of the time. She's always had hardest layout among her peers. But wasn't Melkumova's old coach bad at teaching jumps? I recall she had to learn all triples by herself or something.
I wonder if Dzepka switched to Davydov.

That's also why Sofia gets a spot. (And maybe Stanislava too?)It's worth remembering that GP spots largely depend on ISU rankings and scores. A problem with several talented ladies is that they simply don't have a season's best or ranking - I couldn't find any records or Tsibinova and Talalaikina for example, so they only qualify for host spot and Russia usually gives one of these.Wow you are Out For Blood Man.
Sofiia struggled this year had a hard time getting over 200 no way she gets two GP events. I was far more impressed with Little Liza and Maria T this season. The three of them are the same age why not give them to the 18 year olds on the way up instead of the 18 year old in decline this season? Maria is so tall and fluid it's time to push her a bit. She offers a different kind of look and very beautiful long skating strides. She's a nice alternative style with a great smile.
We understand that all these girls are hardworking and talented and outstanding in their own ways.
Only KV + 3A are guaranteed two GP each. That's 8 with 10 remaining what do you do with those 10? I think a lot of girls are going to get one GP each.
Dasha is 14 and has not done enough to get two. No need for an EG girl Overkill let's spread the wealth around a little.
What they should do at the Federation is give out the to GP events to the for skaters I name that's 8 and then you have 10 left and you reward a few skaters by holding some GP events and the ones that do well in the first GP get a second GP.
Liza T could get 2 but no guarantee.
Alina will not compete anymore. I'm not frustrated about it anymore she's got enough to do with all she's doing to train hard and compete again so those are two more GP events up for grabs.
Zhenya could get 2. Since there are no Grand Prix events until October I would wait until test skates in August to divvy out all 18 Grand Prix events. The top four girls we know who they are that's eight right there but they don't have to assign all 18 right away wait till after test skates and see if Evgenia is healthy and how other ladies look heading into the season.
But the Federation is really going to focus on the top girls and the Olympic team next season. I feel sorry for the second-tier third-tier and 4th tier (Nastyas) Russian ladies. They will not be top priority in the Olympic season. They will have to fend for themselves.
Let's just hope these ladies will be healthy and let the chips fall where they may.
Stanislava is just outside WR at #25, but Sofia is entitled to one (she has a surprisingly high 10th rank and isn't falling lower 24 in any case). That's also why Sofia gets a spot. (And maybe Stanislava too?)
In what world has Daria not done enough to get two? She's done almost as much as Kamila. It's neither of their faults that the season was cancelled and they were robbed of JGP/JGPF/Junior Worlds medals this year. Taking that into account she's done as much as any of the 3A their junior year. Futhermore, she's the same age as Kamila - they'll (plus Maiia) all be senior eligible this year. Daria has two junior grand prix medals, a JGPF bronze, and a Junior World silver. (Which she got at 13.) She doesn't need more senior experience. (She would have more if the season wasn't cancelled.) Furthermore, Daria placed 4th at senior RusNats this year - behind only Anna, Kamila, and Sasha - and ahead of most girls you seem to think also deserve spots. (They do but Daria beat Sofia, Liza N, Liza T, etc.) Her RusNat placement alone gets her a spot on the national team next year. (Plus she also beat most of them at the RusCup Stages.Wow you are Out For Blood Man.

I knew Sofia was in for sure. (She's a European champion and no one competed last year.) I knew Stanislava was close to it but wasn't sure if she might squeak in or not haha.Stanislava is just outside WR at #25, but Sofia is entitled to one (she has a surprisingly high 10th rank and isn't falling lower 24 in any case).
I agree. But the problem though, I think, is that Alina/Zhenya/Sofia might take those spots from others. It's an Olympic season after all. And these skaters might think they have a chance to get onto the Olympic team. Most definitely Usacheva should automatically received 2 spots. She's a JrWorld silver medalist who placed 4th in Senior Nationals. Plus she most likely will have the 3axel. Khromykh was 4th at JrWo last year, is attempting quads and is also moving up to seniors after placing 5th at SrNats so she should get 2. Tuk definitely deserves 2. Sinitsina is a top former jr now attempting quads and has skills to die for. She gets 2.
That's 16 spots right there. Only two left. As much as I love Nugu's skating, she really doesn't deserve a GP spot, but I'd be over the moon if she got one just for all her tenacity to stick with it after so much disappointment. The last spot could go to any one of Frolova, Talalakina, whoever to gain international points.
I don't see any room for former great/good skaters to get a pity assignment. No Stasi, Samodurova, and like I've said, let Zag and Med retire.
