I hope so! Billie is fun but Aliona really needs to be taken seriously at this competition.
Russians, regardless of current placements, Do you have a favorite lady? I still love Alena and since I haven't seen any of the ladies this season, I'd like to know who you love.

Would Alyona with 3A and 4s be a real threat for Kamila?
Depends. Kamila has a lot of Aliona's strengths so it's not quite the advantage compared as it is with Sasha. Kamila will also get crazy high PCS and GOE's. She did as a junior where she was awarded as crazily as the 3A were in juniors and she was actually a year (or two to Aliona) younger than them as that's comparing Aliona's 15 and Anna and Sasha's 14 year old seasons to Kamila's 13 year old season. Kamila will also get a senior boost here - she's already the reigning JGPF and World's champion and might even be RusNats champion next year. As it is she's the RusNat's silver medalist which is the same as Aliona was. Keep in mind, by the end of their first year as seniors, Anna had already essentially caught Aliona in PCS and I expect Kamila to do so also. While Aliona will be 18 to Kamila's 15 due to COVID (and their birthdays) Aliona will only have one more full senior season than Kamila. Also international judges don't tend to differentiate a lot in regards to age. Remember that Aliona, Anna, and Sasha got high PCS in their first senior years at 16 and 15, respectively. Also there is precedent to this. There was only about 3 points (over both programs) in difference between 18 year old Evgenia and 15 year old Alina at the last Olympics. And Alina had caught Carolina Kostner and Aliona while stunning isn't a 31 year old Carolina Kostner.

So I would expect maybe a 2-3 point difference in PCS over both programs. Could be less depending on how the season starts for both of them as their PCS will rise and fall depending on reputation and results over the course of the season.

Therefore, a lot of it depends on both of their layouts.

Assuming they're both doing a 3A in the short essentially equalizes them there and gives them an advantage over Anna (although there are rumours she's training one but just rumours right now) and maybe Sasha (until she stabilizes hers). However, right now Aliona doesn't have her 3A back so she's in the same place 3A wise as Sasha.

However, assuming Aliona's 3A is back to the level of last year, then that neutralizes Kamila's advantage in the SP.

Now the second thing is the FS. In the past Aliona has done two 3A's here. Assuming she keeps both of them and adds a 4S rather than replacing a 3A with a 4S which is only a slight advantage, her FS would involve two 3A's (one in combo) and a 4S. Now she could repeat the 4S but that's unlikely as it would be a very new jump and would affect her layout elsewhere.

Now Kamila's FS. She's already landed a 3A and two 4T's (one in combo) in a FS cleanly. That alone neutralizes Aliona's FS BV (two 3A's and 4S). However, she is also training and has landed her 4S in practice which gives her a BV advantage and eliminates any PCS advantage Aliona might have. Also Kamila can upgrade more by doing another 3A in combo.

So yes, Aliona would be a threat and force Kamila (and Anna and Sasha) to be clean. However, if both Kamila and Aliona are clean the edge should go to Kamila. And Aliona definitely can outscore Anna and Sasha (although they too are training upgrades).

Oh dear... what’s even going on...
I have a hard time wrapping my head around 2 new programs this late in the season. Let’s hope it’s just a mix up.

This is insane... I mean, I was NOT a fan of the old short but to change both programs this late? Wow. I don‘t even know what their strategy‘s supposed to be. I just hope it was a mistake and the music got played randomly lol.

I think to present her as an entirely new skater and eliminate old biases from her previous subpar underwhelming outings. Remember judges are humans with preconceived notions and subconscious biases - this essentially restarts her season and erases old "memories" for them. However, it's crazy risky.

I really really really hope it works.

Sure, I get the underlying principle. But this would be a tough feat to pull off for even a completely healthy skater. And Aliona has other, more pressing, problems right now. Such as getting back her jumps and stamina. If she can‘t land her layout, even without the 3A cleanly, the judges‘ subconscious bias will not be changed even with new programs. Aliona‘s my favorite skater after Zhenya and I so want this to work out but I just cannot wrap my head around this strategy.

They're not skating in seniors and they're on the national team not the reserve team. (Also there is space for them.)
I'm glad Diana and Gleb will be skating in this event after not competing due to her broken leg. I wish ksenia and Nastya G were skating in the cup final too.
The problem is people's definition of "racism". Who has the right for the "race card"? Everybody equaly or just certain people? And then again, why do you treat people like "races" at all? THAT's what creates inequality in the first place.
If someone says "i don't like Biles" and someone else says "that's because you're "racists", this doesn't make sense. The person just said he doesn't like this athlete
Can we also call out people on "racism" everytime they single out a russian figure skater for their hate campaign? For example, all the hate on Medvedeva in the past years, this should be seen as "racism" right?:scratch2::unsure:

And btw, you say you can't argue with "old" people- it's actually the young ones you can't argue with. Their brainwashed heads see "racism" everywhere, everything is a "race", everything is "racism" and everyone is "racist". They're like toddlers who just learned a new word and keep repeating it. I don't like drinking my coffee black- this makes me "racist" now :laugh2:
Yours is one of the best posts I've read on racism. You were pretty brutal with your brainwashed comment for the youth of the world when it comes to racism. But there is some truth to that.

Those who live their lives with racism in their hearts for others who are different from them are part of the problem.

How about the Russophobia going on against the Russian ladies in recent years not to mention their country in general? Do you know the Russian state of the Russians did it the Russians did it. Lol.

Thankfully in America Simone Biles is an all time olympian and greatly respected and deservedly so.

Aliona is rolling the dice and it may come up craps. But she has so much God-given ability for figure skating she could pull it off.

I don't think I've ever seen a skater especially of her caliber change two programs so late in the season for one big event.

Hell yes! Not only would Aliona with 3A and 4S be a threat to KV she would be a threat to all the top ladies.
Well I mean that's by definition. Kamila, as it stands until Anna and Sasha can upgrade (and there are health issues there but there also are with Aliona and Liza) is the top skater. Therefore if Aliona can challenge Kamila she obviously can challenge Anna and Sasha. If everyone skates everything they can and it's clean - Sasha will win. But the others are cleaner and have better PCS (and for the most part deserve that.) Now once again Anna is going to be the underdog haha.
