True, but then that means Valieva isn’t guaranteed a single GP spot as she’s currently ranked 38th. Even if she gets a host spot at Rostelecom, she has no chance at the GPF
I reacted the same as you. Eteri was scary there for a bit. Someone has to correct me here, but as I understand it, Eteri said something like Adelia was focusing too much on the technical and that she was losing the program overall.Does anybody know what Eteri said to Adeliya after her free skate? She was kind of scolded harshly by Eteri. Even I was scared a bit of Eteri and I’m not part of Sambo 70. I live in another country. Adeliya is my favourite skater and she exceeded my expectations with a 2nd at National and 3rd at Russian Cup. I was happy with her performance. It wasn’t as good as Nationals, but, still solid. Just curious.
Also, Sofia and Eteri had an interesting word exchange. I think in that case, they were joking. I wish I could speak Russian to understand.
Yeah, it's the same scenario. Daria will also get two spots. (Maiia will get at least one and potentially the host spot depending on how she does.)Valieva will get 2 spots, GP events want crowd-drawing/premiere talent - look at it this way going into her first international senior season, Shcherbakova was ranked #74 because the only season she competed was the 2018-2019 junior season (she was too young in 16/17 season, and injured for the 17/18 season).
@nussnacker had only just expressed concern for her jumps in the RCF thread. Let's see where Sofia Samodelkina moves next. And hope it opens up spots for someone like Agneta Latushkina.Liza Beretovskaya has left Davydov's camp for Eteri.
I'm actually kind of surprised! Well, anyways it was a very kind and sweet message! I hope that Eteri camp can help Liza get bigger and more consistent jumps and hopefully some better skating skills as well.Liza Beretovskaya has left Davydov's camp for Eteri.
I honestly don't see Samodelkina moving from Davydov soon. It seems like she's doing great there, all she really needs is to continuing building consistency and hopefully working in another 3A into her free skate. And I also don't really see any other big name coach that really suits her? Perhaps Mishin?@nussnacker had only just expressed concern for her jumps in the RCF thread. Great artistic potential to develop, but can Dudakov raise the height of her jumps?Liza Beretovskaya has left Davydov's camp for Eteri.
That's my main issue too. I mean they haven't been able to really fix the height on Adeliya's jumps yet either.Great artistic potential to develop, but can Dudakov raise the height of her jumps?![]()

I don't think anyone will give up their worlds spot, even if one wins the Olympics and/or they all podium. If the team is Anna/Sasha/Kamila, at least one of Anna and Sasha would not have a world title. And Kamila definitely wouldn't. If Alena is on the team, she wouldn't have a world title either. She wants to compete she wants to be healthy she wants to go to Grand Prix events and challengers. Zhenya is hungry. But will her body hold up? She may have doubts that she can make the Olympic team. So what?
I say if she gets healthy let her skate as many events as possible and see where her game is after missing an entire season. Definitely a tough road but if Zhenya to take that road I support her.
We know who the top 3 are who are the odds on favorites to make the Olympic team. But I think 1 or 2 of those girls may not go to worlds and then you have the 4th and 5th girls ready for that event. I can see that happening.
She may not be able to match the top 3 girls could I could definitely see a journey of the and competitive with Liza and alliona if she doesn't have her 3A back.
Maria's coach is her mother Anna Tsareva, she also coached Anna Pogorilaya. Is she the girl that finished 4th? Her personality in the kiss and cry was joyful.
Who are her coaches? They look like models.![]()
Probably the best, yes. Can't think of any other place that does it better. Is Eteri really the place we see artistry being nutured and developed? They focus on cranking out formulaic programs that get lots of points.
Oh wow, not sure about this move. Not sure Dudakov can even help that situation, those jumps and SS need a TON of work.@nussnacker had only just expressed concern for her jumps in the RCF thread. Well, her primary motivation for going there is probably to get lots of points... Davydov, Tutberidze, Buianova etc. could all be said to produce formulaic programmes, TBH. And from their POV, why not, since they (well, Tutberidze mainly) dominate Junior girls. Is Eteri really the place we see artistry being nutured and developed? I think they might - that is the World's after the Olympics. Most do actually. (The olympics are A LOT.) (Kamila might not because it would be her first worlds but she also might if she wins an OGM - because what is World's when you have an OGM.) But Anna or Sasha might if they win here (and make it to the Olympics but that decreases exponentially if they win OGM.) And a lot will depend on injuries anyway. And regardless the year after will be a similar team anyway - assuming no injuries and no one retires which is unlikely. (Sofia A doesn't turn senior until 2023-2024 so she would still be a year away.)I don't think anyone will give up their worlds spot, even if one wins the Olympics and/or they all podium. If the team is Anna/Sasha/Kamila, at least one of Anna and Sasha would not have a world title. And Kamila definitely wouldn't. If Alena is on the team, she wouldn't have a world title either.
Assuming that whoever makes the Olympic team is also guaranteed worlds spots, I don't see any of them giving up their chance considering the year after will be a bloodbath. 1 mistake at nationals could cost them the world team in any year, who would give up a guaranteed spot?
