Worst comes to worst...what happens if Eteri says no, but Plushenko doesn’t take her back..?
This really reminds me of Tarakanova's situation. Left Eteri, somewhat small blowout with Eteri. Left Plushenko, huge blowout.

But, Alena does have more leverage because of her resume. I'd imagine that more coaches want to work with her as the reigning GPF and Euros champ. Didn't Nastia have troubles finding a coach before going back to Panova? She only had a JGPF bronze, though.

Totally OT, but how is that possible??? My cousin (we are from Italy) departed three weeks ago for Toronto where he will stay for the next year for a post graduate job at the university (I think he got a work or a study visa); all he had to do was opening a bank account with a preestablished sum on it and quarantine for two weeks upon arrival...so how comes international athletes cannot go back to their coaches? I doubt it is because Italy has a favourable covid outcome, since we are on the verge of closing everything again...sorry for the OT.
I also wondered the same thing. Our lab (in Canada) has a few new personnel coming in this spring from Asia. All would be on a temporary visa, i.e. a study or work permit that lasts 1-2 years. Perhaps because academic research (biomedical in our case) is considered essential?

With the TCC/Granite skaters, I wonder what sort of visa they're on. Neither a work or study visa is really applicable to a kid who trains in figure skating full-time. If I were Junhwan or Satoko I'd try enrolling in some not-too-intensive programme at a local educational institution, just to secure the right to enter... It's funny how US immigration is easier than Canada now.

She could go to Moskvich. They'd finally get their first competitive senior skater.
I like Moskvich very much, but not sure if it would help Kostornaia to get back to where she was. They seem to specialise in rescuing older boys from retirement (which is why I'm not holding out a lot of hope for Stanislava Konstantinova to do much besides skate for the joy of it).
Slutskaya's days are long past...

She goes to CSKA.They desperately need her and her talent.

But I can't believe the Russian federation would have this big announcement tomorrow and it would be TT refusing Aliona. I think there's like only a 5% chance that happens. The question now is will she want to bring young Sergei back with her and will that be the sticking point?

I honestly don’t think he would. She just tried to leave (allegedly without telling him but we don’t know if that’s true), so I doubt he would allow her back as if nothing happened. That’s why this situation is so weird, she’s already left AOP and if Eteri says no... then what? I’m not a fan of Eteri & Co at all, but at this point it almost makes sense for them to just take her (even though I really don’t know if it will be beneficial for Aliona — so many skaters on the pecking order).
I think Eteri will take her back but with her conditions. Maybe she will ask her to sign a contract to avoid what happened before and no more whims anymore.

If Aliona goes back, will they allow her to keep her current programs? The free has so so much potential, it would be a shame that we would only get to see it once (and with her no where near healthy at that). I know they will most likely change programs and have Daniil do something (which I don’t know...yikes), but I’m going to hold on to the 5% chance that she gets to keep the free. Just like if Evgenia competes again, I would love to see Algeria skated all out:love2:

According to Rozanov's Instagram he isn't planning to go back to Eteri.

Also, it’s amazing how Russia’s ladies manage to bring the drama on the ice and off the ice at the same time.

Can’t look away for a second.

Their on ice product is amazing, their press conferences are talked about for weeks, their coaches are entertaining, the real life storylines couldn’t even be written by the biggest Hollywood hack.

Firing on all cylinders they are.
And it managed to get more dramatic today!

They did a pretty good job with Kamila Valieva. And Viktoria Vasilieva was... Well, passable. But they've not really had a senior skater, mm.

I like Moskvich because they prioritize skating skills and interpretation unlike just about every other club.

Don't they still have Kostornaya's programs? I thought they were done. So they'll likely just use those, right? If she ends up being accepted.

I think Eteri will take back Alena, because she doesn’t lose anything with this decision. And I hope Sasha will come back too. Without the magical wand of Eteri team her chance of going to Olympic only decreases. The best way to defeat Eteri’s students is to become one of them.

She joins team Mishin or simply retires I guess ... unless she went to Buianova but she works at TAT’s rink and I don’t think they are on good terma
If Eteri takes Aliona back, it would be just to stick it to Plush. Tut doesn't need Kostarnaia any longer. She has so much fresh talent on her team - girls who are hungry and eager and have their emotions in check.

She only has Anna as a senior this season (zhenia was too injured to compete) but next year, there are three juniors will turn seniors so she doesn’t need another senior.

She doesn’t gain anything either

Never expected Alena to be this reckless and hot headed not only once but twice over the span of less than a full season, if this is true... her health problems are not her fault, but her bad decisions are.
In Sasha's case people like to point out what a helicopter parent her father is and that he makes every decision for her, but with Alena I have to ask, are there no parents of hers that might regulate these impulsive moves?

Alena is my favorite skater, but sorry, if I was Eteri I would chuckle. It's humiliating for the poor girl and pretty satisfying for Eteri. She has 0 need for her- Kamila, Anna, Darya, Maya will make up 2 if not all 3 of the Olympic spots between them. And after them, the next crop is already growing. Alina and Evgenia are there as poster children. She has already proven decisively who is the better coach between her and Plushenko (if there was even ever any doubt for anyone).

The only reason she would take Alena back would be to give the ultimate blow to Plushenko's ego and image, or cause the money givers at Krustalny make it very attractive for her.

I honestly think that Sasha is pretty good at AOP. Whether her scores show it or not, her PCS have improved (I’ve watched her Channel TV trophy short so many times because of how beautiful she uses her arms). And she’s basically top dog over there (especially now), so she will be getting a lot of attention— whereas at Eteri’s she wouldn’t get as much. And overall she just seems happier at AOP, so I hope she stays (not that she’s indicated otherwise or anything).
