Insulate how? Kostornaia has to train somewhere. With all her technical/conditioning problems she's gonna take coaches' focus away from other students. Juniors do not jeopardize much having finished their competitive seasons, but Anya? šŸ˜”
Everyone's seasons are pretty much over. Alena is reserve for Worlds but that's not likely to happen.

Only Anna and (now Alena if she trains) will still be at the rink - and Alena will be training much less. Anna's trained with all the others all year and trained with Alna before. She'll be fine. There's even less skaters now as she prepares for World's - even if Alena starts tomorrow. And Anna won RusNats even with all the craziness. Remember Eteri got Anna, Kamila, Daria, and Maiia all ready for RusNats. And she got Anna, Sasha, and Alena ready for RusNats, Euros, and was getting them all ready for World's last year. And she got Anna, Sasha, Alena, and Alina ready for GPF last year. If anything only having to get one athlete and one reserve ready for World's is MUCH LESS than anything Anna (and the coaching staff) has had before.

As for next season, remember at one point we thought (and probably Anna did too) that there was a chance that: Alina, Anna, Sasha, Alena, Kamila, Daria, and Maiia would all be trying to make the Olympic team at the same time with the same coach. Anna didn't even expect Alena to leave - I hardly doubt her return throws her at all.

EDIT: Also they all do know that they have to beat each other at RusNats and throughout the season to be named to the team anyway. Might as well know what each other are training even better. It's not like it'll be a secret at all competitions anyway and it doesn't change at all their plans to upgrade.

You really think theyā€˜ll give less of their attention to Shcherbakova if sheā€˜s their only chance at a Worlds gold this season? Seriously?
Well, as Alyona expressed her aversion to training with younger skaters, so I suppose she's gonna absorb coaching staff's attention skating alongside Anna, isn't she?

I don't care for Plushenko, but for Aliona it isn't fair to blame him. Rehabilitating an injured skater is hard. How much time did they have together on the ice? And he didn't want her to change her SP, he didn't even want her to compete.

Aliona not liking the arrangements doesn't necessarily mean they were bad. We haven't heard her reasons yet like when she left Eteri, and I don't think we're going to hear any.

Didn't Eteri implement a rule that any junior that cuts off another skater's program ends their ice-training session that day on the spot? I remember seeing a youtube video posted.
We haven't? Didn't she say she didn't want to skate with little children who got in the way and all?

I know "Khrustalnyi" terminated their regular public skating sessions several years ago.
Dunno about gym accessibility for outsider though.
I meant the skating classes (public sessions were terminated indeed) - there are "general" & TeamTut groups.

Gym is open for everyone.

I still think that Eteri could send one of the juniors away to reaccept Alyona K. It wasn’t fair when she was training 4 girls for a 3 lady Olympics team, but now FIVE???! I think she needs to select the 3 she thinks can sweep the Olympic podium, and maybe it does include Kostornaia in her mind, who knows

EDIT: it would be horrible if she actually did this
She's NOT going to do this.

She's going to train them all to be as best as they can and let events play out as they will.

She didn't stop Alina from trying to beat Evgenia either (and she LOVED Evgenia - she was practically her daughter. And she was still willing to risk that dream to help Alina.) And she tried to get Polina ready for the same Olympics. Also the players are the same no matter where they train. And they STILL need to beat each other to secure their spot. That doesn't change.

Anna's not the only one left at the rink, Russian younger age nationals, older age nationals etc. are still to come. And yes, Tutberidze has skaters in such categories.

Either way, Aliona's training was expensive and costly for Plushenko, but she wasn't producing the results to justify those costs and expenses. So I wouldn't be surprised if he (indirectly) asked her to leave.
Possibly. Pro sport is not for the faint of heart. They cuddle an athlete as long as he produces.

That doesn't change with Alena's arrival though.

And when Anna and Sasha were small they didn't have Eteri's direction. That's still going to be mainly the other coaches. That hasn't changed.

Danny G says they’ll make a decision about Aliona in the next couple of days, but she can’t train with them for the other reason: she’s already contractually bound (by Plushenko, I presume), so that contract needs to be broken first, and there are some financials nuances that need to be resolved associated with that.

Sounds like the financial part is the main thing. i'm taking it as once that is worked out, they will announce her return.

So she can’t leave Plushy like she did with Eteri. If there’s a contract, it certainly means penalties for breaking it.

That's not really surprising. She needs to learn the system. She'll move up eventually. Also her season is over anyway.

EDIT: Also she IS really young isn't she?
I mean it depends on what you consider "really" young. She's younger than Akatieva but older than Zhilina. But all three of them are all in the 2007-08 generation.

It might not be a big deal, the contract with that toothpaste company? We don't know the details but I guess the contract would not have clauses that prevent her from changing coaches. She does have to come out of the contract by following proper protocols, though.
