Russian figure skating is the gift that keeps on giving lol

Yeah, no. I admittedly used to find the drama entertaining but it‘s become exhausting. And now the fact that there are teenagers (who, let‘s face it, tend to make the occasional irresponsible decision) involved who might get their career and life destroyed just disturbs me. It also doesn‘t help that I‘m a fan of the girl in question.

they also released a whole 2 articles based on “insider info” from AoP about hysterical and lazy Aliona and Plushenko tolerating that behavior for months.

Yup nothing has changed from Sakhanovich and Tarakanova. Just that this time, Aliona is more high profile, so Plushenko doesn’t come out to smear her outright in an interview. Instead, we get these lovely “insiders“.

I just remembered that Sakhanovich had a mental breakdown (her own words) from what Plushenko said about her and the resultant treatment she got in the media. I was willing to give that team the benefit of the doubt for Aliona’s and Sasha’s sake but wow did they ever disappoint. Let‘s just hope Sasha continues to improve and never has the desire to leave because after Aliona, I don‘t want to imagine their reaction.

So much agreed. Shall we compare final layback from her performance at the beginning of February for fun and enrichment? I am obsessed with the particular pacing of the left hand as it ascends and then gradually spirals down. Faster on the way up, slower on the way down, gradually decelerates on the way down as the hand approaches her torso:

Is there a competition going on now that we don't
So they are waiting for the plushy team to free Alena
AK is still a member of Sambo 70 so she should be able to go back smoother than this.

They were the first to break the news about her leaving, right after that Rodina woman, and they also released a whole 2 articles based on “insider info” from AoP about hysterical and lazy Aliona and Plushenko tolerating that behavior for months.
???????? OMG not again!

Hmmmm sambo70 is her club but her coach is another one so it’s more difficult if the current coach is asking to pay his money back for breaking her contract. Like Dannil said, she’s still bonded with plushy.

Why would she do that? She provided a service to Kostornaia the current drama that Kostornaia created through impulsive decisions does not involve Bourne
Because she might want to help out a talented athlete who is suddenly out of cash and favour. /shrug

Oh yeah. I meant that sarcastically. I love Aliona and don't like that she's caught in the middle of something. One thing I want to know is why didn't she wait until after World's to return to Eteri?

I don't dislike Plushy but his treatment of some of his skaters (and he's not alone in this by any means) is terrible. I want Sasha to improve for her sake (and don't care at all about his reaction or anyone's really)! She deserves to skate her best and do the best she can and skate on her own terms!

Thanks!

That's actually about what I expected at this point in time. I didn't expect she'd land her 4T - quads are hard to land in competition as new elements - everyone else has struggled with that too. And I also expected some trouble on her 3Lz-3Lo combo - those are also hard - Anna and Sasha and others also struggle with them.

But I actually think she looks really good here!! Her style and spins and steps are stunning!!

No, he absolutely isn‘t. Reactions like Davydov‘s to a student leaving seem frustratingly rare.

So do I when it comes to Sasha, obviously. I want her on that Olympic team and do well at Worlds because I like her as an athlete and have warmed up to her skating. But my comment was more in terms of that I wish for her sake to never have the desire to leave Plushenko‘s academy because it could turn out to be even more messy. Right now, nothing indicates such a move. She‘s been doing very well and I like the work her and her team have put in so far. You can really tell that she’s spent many hours on improving her skating skills and presentation. I‘ve watched her SP so many times already - it might become one of my favorite programs!

A big part of this mess is that Aliona left after the transfer window. At the time, all money issues were brushed under the rug because Plushenko basically said it didn't matter. But the contents of the contract become important now. Is RusFed paying Sasha's fees? Given what Plushenko is providing...cottage, private trainings etc. I don't see how they could cover the costs. Plushenko made it sound like his high-profile athletes would be given this all on gratis or subsidised heavily. Unless the contract says Aliona must stay until after the Olympics, she should be able to leave at the official end of this figure-skating season and not face financial penalties.

One day of discussions about a contract (which we don't know the contents of) isn't an "ordeal" yet or something Aliona is having to "go through" in my opinion. And no one should automatically expect that Plushenko has to give all of this for free if he's entitled to money back. But *he* said today that he was providing all this for free, which is actually really good of him if he does it. I hope he honours his words, however who knows after Yana's comments, we'll wait and see...

She’s too impulsive. She should take time to discuss things with plushy if there’s a contract. Waiting until after worlds is meaningless, both sides have to find a common ground.

Nothing is for free. I think he provides what his atletes need for free but if they breach the contract it’s another story

You're right, but then it depends on what meeting the obligations of the contract entails. I can imagine it saying she has to stay until the end of Olympic season, and if it does - financially she's screwed. But I can equally imagine it saying she has to stay until the end of this season.

Davydov was exemplary. (Although of course while talented she's just a young skater in a sea of young talented skaters.)

Sasha, Aliona, Evgenia, etc are all national team members (with Olympic aspirations) and even Anastasiia T, etc had competed on international stages.

I LOVED Sasha's SP. And her FS at nationals.
