No doubt they are driven and challenged by Eteri's team and of course they have to adapt or even better that and partially it's already happening. If Sofia for instance keeps her stability she can become serious threat for Khrustalnyi in TIME. ;) But I think so far the others concentrate on single things, thus become nominalists, while Teri is focusing on the whole program, which makes her a realist.
cringe

Can someone point out to me where Kami's second rocker in her step sequence is because I cannot for the life of me seem to see it and I'm also sure Eteri wouldn't just not have the guidelines for level 4 met.

Also I don't know if I'm stupid or what but the ISU guideline for level 4 says 5 turns in different directions right? Aren't there only five difficult turns anyways? Can you do a choctaw in different directions?

Does someone have a link to Kulikova's programs? I cant find hers...

From the other programs I did watch, I liked Alisa's FS. Maybe nothing overly remarkable about the skater but Giselle is beautiful music and there wasnt any weird cuts. The choreography was simple but matched the music. The short was a miss for me.
Sofia had similar SP music to Alisa but performed the heck out of it, I was impressed. The long was unfortunate music with frantic choreography that didnt match. Great jumping ability of course.
Daria was clearly the elegant one, with similarities to Kamila (some good some bad). I didnt like the SP music but thought she performed it well. The free started off nice, but lost me half way thru.

So, there are two things to note(source: ISU handbook). Difficult steps:

Difficult Turns and Steps: twizzles, brackets, loops, counters, rockers, choctaws.
Requirements for complexity(lvl 4):
Must include at least 11 difficult turns and steps. None of the types of turns and
steps can be counted more than twice.
5 types of turns and steps must be executed in both directions (the direction means
body rotating to the left or to the right during the turn).
That means that 5 of the turns need to be executed in both directions, and there hence must be at least two of them of course, bringing the total to 10. But then the 6th type of turn only needs to be executed once.

So if she has two of all the other turns, she wouldn't need a second rocker.

Titova didn't get the 10% bonus for her first second half combo. It was too early. That's more than a point. There's been what I consider an unsportsmanlike response at Titova's Insta channel to all this

I look at the protocols and all I'm thinking: I wish Dasha could pull off the second half jumps. It would have been an easy victory. And nobody would have anything to complain
Yeah, posting something like this is not something you want to do. Ever. Let the coach complain on your behalf, that is his/her job. Should there be a more transparent avenue to protest a score? (like in gymnastics) Yes. There was supposed to be at one time, (On the ISU level) but I'm not sure anyone has made use of it. I would like to see more variety in the judges assigned to these competitions as well-it seems like I see the same judges for all the bigger events, over and over. All of these little girls work very hard-none of them show up and 'slop all over the ice' (as we used to call it). You can go to a similar event in the U.S. where some of the girls actually forget their program while they are skating, and 'wing' it for large portions.
I would like to see more fairness-especially for skaters from unknown clubs and regions. (For example, sometimes I see some spectacular jumps given low GOE, and some barely done jumps given sky high GOE). I thought many of the little girls today were evenly matched, most had the same jumping arsenal, some were slightly better at spins or the StepSeq, and I'm sure that makes it harder to judge. At this age though, you want to hope that most of them are happy with how they skated, and proud that they made it this far. I wish-like gymnastics-they gave awards down to 8th place, or maybe gave special awards for the best StepSeq, spin, jump etc.

Late to the party and just watched the performances but I have got to say that Sofia's FS was one the most frantic performances I have ever seen - also what was that choreography/music pairing especially that split jump placement :palmf: Anyway, the jumps look nice and solid and the silver may actually do her some good after so many consecutive golds (motivation and attitude-wise). Her mom on the other hand, though, absolutely not the most intelligent move but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't really have an opinion on Dvoeglazova but I'm really wishing for a clean skate from Daria next time - I think her skating is absolutely beautiful, especially that 2A

I don't have much to add, having discovered that everybody seems to agree with me that Kuliakova's step sequence was great and that Dasha Sadkova is the charmingly inconsistent genius of Russian ladies figure skating.

In the interest of being positive (not that others haven't been), I did want to point to one segment of Rubtsova's program that added some happiness to my day: a double axel leads into a transition in the program, which I think is nicely choreographed, and then after the music changes she really delivers on the spin, with some nice shifting of weight while keeping her center. I even like the slight slowdown at the moment of the catchfoot, followed by acceleration into the Biellmann.

I wish that parents/skaters/coaches took a 24 hour break between competitions and social media if they are unhappy with results to avoid knee-jerk reactions.

I don't watch novice skaters because I find it creepy. We should leave these kids alone I feel.

So...intermission and totally OT

Why did San Marino blow their enitire budget on this Eurovision video that also includes a famous American rapper?

San Marino, small country in Europe, population abt 34.000.

I mean...

Firstly, do you watch juniors? Most of the girls here are basically one year younger than 13 (when you usually become junior eligible). There's not this magical period where once you go junior suddenly everything that was once "creepy" becomes totally okay.

Secondly, I, at least, don't find it creepy. They are competitive athletes - young ones, yes, but still competitive athletes nonetheless. We aren't prying into their private lives and sneaking into their rinks to film them, these are official and big competitions that they are competing at. Why shouldn't be watch and discuss a competition? And "leave these kids alone". Well, on one hand I agree. I don't think we should be bashing them (though no one here really is). But on the other hand, they are competitive athletes skating at a big competition. We really aren't intruding (or at least I hope we aren't intruding) upon their private lives or trying to bother them or anything. I feel like I'm allowed to have an opinion on a skater, even if they are 10 or 12, just because as humans, we kind of have an opinion on everything?

And also, I'm quite sure, with how deep the Russian ladies field is, some of these wonderful novices might not make it senior or even junior internationally. For example, Anastasia Kostyuk. Such a great skater that I would've completely missed had I not been watching domestic juniors.

Of course I understand the sentiment. I'm not that much older than most of the girls here so I don't feel like a creep watching them, but I guess everyone has their own preferences. I guess what I'm trying to say is you can dislike watching novices - that's totally fine - but I don't necessarily think that that means everyone has to stop watching novices.

LOL! I guess that must have come out wrong.

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone that follows novices, I just don't. Maybe I sounded a bit harsh, didn't mean to.

For the record, I follow juniors, not the way I follow seniors but still. But I don't have the same interest in juniors as I find them to be...well, children.

2. Titova. That program is insanity inducing. Who thought to give a literal kid - and one struggling with presentation as is - Malade to skate to? And then put THAT choreo on it? I don‘t know what the worst of it was...probably the moment when the music became really quiet and vulnerable and she went and did a powerful split jump. She‘s also just...not a good performer, even for a novice.
Wait a minute. I agree about the free program but have you seen her short program? That was a very different experience..

Another confessed non-watcher of novice competitions here... 👋

I didn't watch the competition but still read what Titova's mum wrote and geez... If she gets so intense just for a novice competition, imagine how she'll react to higher level competitions? 😬

It sucks that Titova is getting this toxic example from mum and coaches. At least novice skaters should be able to not take competitions so seriously. Save that for when it actually counts, kids.
