She did have one bad SP practice. But yeah, primarily the quads were the issue. Her 3-3 were okay in practice, it’s the quads she couldn’t land. So the real battle will be in the free.

I would say the FS hasn't been skated yet. Let's wait for that - as we saw..ice is slippery.Well, short one from me:
Anna‘s the World Champion. Congratulations. She really always delivers, you have to give her credit for that. Nerves of steel. I‘ll try not to comment on the scores because I might go insane if I do. Beautiful interpretation, though and her combo had a lot more flow than usually.
Not a fan of Liza but this was brilliant. Might be an unexpected medal? What a result for her regardless.
Sasha. Well. I‘m sad. Go broke in the FS and land 5 quads? I guess that‘s what I‘ll hope for...
If it makes you feel better, I was getting spreadsheet like accounting on why they are doomed. hahaI said the same thing and got a whole essay in reply on how clearly Anna's technique was failing her and Sasha was setting herself up to win two Olympics.![]()
Maybe the emotions are getting the best of you, but I don't think it's so respectful to crown a champion already. Rika is still absolutely in the mix, and pleasantly surprised that Liza is also right up there too. Sasha...you never know what she's going to pull out in the free. And Anna I hope will deliver a beautiful performance. There's a long way to go.Well, short one from me:

You sound so upset.Anna‘s the World Champion. Congratulations.
Agreed. This is a premature celebration to be sure.I would say the FS hasn't been skated yet. Let's wait for that - as we saw..ice is slippery.
They didn't exactly hammer Sasha. They actually tried to save her.man, they HAMMERED sasha. who would have expected she'd end up in 12th. wow. if she misses one or 2 jumps tomorrow, can she still end up on the podium? she's not going to go down without a fight.
Sasha has improved. But, she got higher marks than Kaori. The judges helped her. They didn't exactly hammer Sasha. They actually tried to save her.

Anna is made of steel. Really.I hope a few lessons were learned today.
You always give the benefit of the doubt to the champions in sports. Anna and Liza are champions.
Champions have intangibles when the lights shine brightest that can’t be calculated on paper or in practice.
Anna was crying yesterday and it caused a stir. Not crying today when it’s counts.
I was saying for a while never ever count Anna out. Ever.
I was saying yesterday not to read anything in practice. It’s called practice for a reason. Nobody wanted to listen to me. Haha
That was my point. From any other Federation - where remember Sasha is Russia's #2 - Sasha would either not have qualified to the FS or would be skating in the first group tomorrow.Sasha has improved. But, she got higher marks than Kaori. The judges helped her.
Thank you.I just wanted to say to our Russian friends who got angry at Meagan's comments, the CBC commentator was very supportive of all the Russian ladies, and particularly Anna.
He said a lot of positive things about Anna's skating, artistry and interpretation. He also praised her for her very difficult and beautiful transition into and out of her double axel.
That was my point. From any other Federation - where remember Sasha is Russia's #2 - Sasha would either not have qualified to the FS or would be skating in the first group tomorrow.
She'll be skating in the second to last where the judges won't hesitate to reward her for an excellent skate.

Not quite. They even called Trusova's Flip edge. They did so correctly, but it still is relatively strict. They didn't exactly hammer Sasha. They actually tried to save her.
