New Format for Dancing With the Stars

The way I see it, Marie goes next. Both Marie and Jane were somewhat prominent celebrities and that would never go over with their fans if one should win.

That leaves Cameron the only male who will stay at least till he's among the three left.

Joe

I hope that he isn't one of the top three he is to cocky for me = = I hope that Max & Mel win =
she is realy good

Just my opinion I am rooting for Marie but torn between her and Helio.

Dee

At the moment, I am rooting for Mel, but that could change. At first, I loved Helio, but lately he really hasn't been measuring up (but I love his personality). I was not surprised Jane went home last night. I thought Marie did much better this week.

New article about Jennie Garth:

Good, let her get knocked up and spend her life in a mumu chasing her children. Suits her perfectly and apparently her husband as well.

What's wrong with having kids? And not every mom wears muumuu's and chases kids. Lots of them have *gasp* JOBS outside the home, and certainly all of the young moms I know have very full lives outside of their kids. If you don't like her dancing that's one thing, but why be mean about her personal choices?

I am so distracted by Mel's tatoo that I really don't watch her dance.

Dee

I'll have to look for that, I've never noticed it. (maybe I was always too distracted by that cheetah paw on Sabrina's shoulder...seriously, that thing bugged me for some reason LOL)

Agreed. I hate her dancing, am sick of her whining and dissing Derek, and want her gone, but more power to her for loving being a mom!

If she wants to be a stay at home mom, I think that's great. But she isn't on DWTS to promote stay at home momism. She's on to promote her acting career, so she ought to give both aspects of her life respect. Part of that might include acting grateful for this opportunity and treating her dance partner with the respect he deserves. She behaves like this show is an awful burden and her dance partner is a little boy. I know many working moms and a few stay at home moms, all relish their lives, not behave like something else is always better.

Personally, I don't think she thinks of the show as a burden. It's obvious she's very concerned with her performance and stresses out. She lacks confidence in her abilities. I find that somewhat ironic since she took dance lessons as a child and, as a child, thought she would be a dance teacher. (This was long before she was discovered, as per her website.) During the 1st several weeks, I too found her 'sour' expression (which was also called out by Kenny Mayne) to be annoying, but later realized it was just performance anxiety. It's hard standing in front of millions of people waiting to be critiqued. At least, she's trying unlike some past contestants (ie. Billy Ray Cyrus, Master P.)

Of the majority of the 90120 cast, Jennie's probably gone through the least amount of public drama - even in 90210's heyday. She seems to live a very private lifestyle.

I haven't observed her putting down Derek's skills. She just has a hard time feeling romantic with someone 14 years younger when she's a happily married woman. True - she could just act, but it's one thing to act out a romantic scene on a soundstage where there's fewer than a hundred people observing vs performing live in front of millions.

From what I've read on Wikepedia and IMDB, Jennie is not just a stay at home mom. Her last series was cancelled in 2006 - not that long ago. She's done some directing and has acted as executive producer and is actively involved in community service that encourages kids to volunteer in their communities.

As for Cam's arrogance, it's a perception issue. I visit an All My Children forum. Obviously, many are voting for Cam - even though they don't all believe he is the best dancer.

However, the ones who have personally met him feel that he is a great guy. Several of them believed he was arrogant - mostly based upon his character on the show. Some just thought he would be arrogant because of his looks. Not a single one of them has said that they didn't change their minds after meeting him. They are very impressed because he apparently makes an effor to remember his fans after conversing with them. One woman was so impressed because she met him at one fan event and he actually remembered her a year later with no prompting (ie. Remember, we met last year....)

Obviously, DWTS tries to present only good impressions of it's stars, but they still show very little of the ongoings - thus, we still don't even get more than a glimmer of what really is happening.

I think Marie got the votes of the entire Osmond clan and that was enough to be picked No.1 save.

However, like Jane, she will be out next week.

With the amount of Osmonds out there I am not surprised that she is still there. I think the final is going to be Helio and Mel B.

Well, Joe, I am rooting for Marie. She is a beautiful, esquisite middle aged woman who I think has come a long way in her dancing. I hope she has a chance just based on effort.

What I've been wondering is this:
Is DwtS just some sort of promo show in disguise?
It's VERY obviously not a 'real' competition, even the popularity contest theory seems a little too shaky.
Sooooo.....
Is the show designed around promoting certain people, their shows, their whatever?
Are the Osmond doll sales flagging?
Does Jennie Garth have a new series coming out soon?
Does whatever 'Formula' car Helio drives need a shot in the financial arm by boosting his popularity?
Are not enough billions of people tuning into All my Children (or whatever soap Cameron is on)?
Does no one (or anyone) even know who in the heck the Spice Girls were?
Wondering.....

If it was an ABC promo show, it would be cast with exclusively ABC stars. It isn't.

It is a vehicle for lower tier celebs to try and boost their careers. Marie Osmond has her dolls, but she's trying to push herself and her family back into the show biz limelight. Jennie Garth wants more roles. Mel B knows the Spice Girls may have a reunion, but they're too old to be girls much longer, so she wants to increase her personal profile above as Eddie Murphy baby mama. Maybe Cameron Mathison knows it's now or never to move beyond soaps.

People who've been on this show have seen direct impact in their careers. Stacy Keibler left wrestling and landed several good acting gigs. Joey Fatone became host of singing show. Emmitt Smith upped his profile as did Jerry Rice. Drew Lachey landed some major jobs, including hosting Miss USA, as did Mario Lopez. Laila Ali seems to be moving into the beauty field. And Jerry Springer completely reinvented himself. He's still got the trashy talk show, but he's now hosting America's Got Talent.
