While I agree Satoko and Marin are true artists...what's not to like about Wakaba?

For me artistry is a synonim of elegance. I see none in her. Sorry, I know that a lot of non-Russian fans think otherwise - this argument dates back to 2014 when she just appeared in the junior circle.

Season is not completely over, after all - Dasha, Maya & Moris are in Torun, to take part in the gala of the LOTOS Mentor Toruń Cup (that was cancelled, but the organizers decided to hold the gala without spectators).

Ugh, it broke my heart when she had to retire so early. I loved her long limbs and her jumps were gorgeous--so big, airy and effortless looking. I think they said she had some kind of illness or chronic injury or something. I really loved her GOT SP (I think it was "Light of the Seven" or something).

While I agree Satoko and Marin are true artists...what's not to like about Wakaba? Honestly I am trying to think of another skater in the last ten years has the versatility could skate short programs to Gypsy Dance, Energia, Bird Set Free, and Primavera back-to-back-to-back-to-back and I can't think of any. Even taking the most versatile skaters in all disciplines (Brown, Uno, Gubanova, Kostornaia, Asada, Sui/Han, Savchenko/Massot, Virtue/Moir, Chock/Bates, etc.) I can't see any of them selling all four, they're just too different. Maybe Daisuke Takahashi?

I think Wakaba's versatility is fabulous. She really has had some amazing programs over the years. The problem is she's erratic--her skating is all over the place. One performance will be amazing, the next she'll be a trainwreck. The fact that she is unreliable hurts her positioning within her federation and with the judges. No one knows what to do with her.

However, when she is on, she's pretty amazing.

Regarding Tsurskaya, I think its a bit confusing as to her issues and retirement, when she left Eteri, i think it was Eteri mentioned a chronic or genetic bone issue but if I'm remembering when she (Tsurskaya) talked after retiring it was more of a general desire to leave sport not so much because of injury.

Speaking of Mao I know Anna is inspired by Mao and I am still hoping she will get Rachmaninov for Olympic season. She would do incredibly.

I have the same thought. Obviously it must be a classical and famous piece in FS, not lower quality than Ravel or Minkus. I can't see many options other than Rachmaninov.

RusFed has to make up the list by 10th, then Executive Committee will confirm it (usually by 15th), then Ministry of Sport confirms it from their side (by June 1st).

Haven’t posted in this thread yet. Guess I’ll start by saying my ideal Olympic team (of the likely candidates) is Anna, Daria, Alyona I can’t wait to see what happens next season. Russian ladies figure skating is really the peak of all sports right now.

My ideal team would be Sasha Kamila Liza and Anna. And yes I know that there are only 3 spots.

I love Alyona but she lost her motivation and didn't work hand enough this season, while other girls kept fighting.
