The Junior Ladies Group A SP at the Broadmoor Open just finished. Isabeau Levito finished in first with a 64.50 (2A, 3F, 3Lz+3T), Mia Kalin finished in second with a 62.29 (3Lz+3T, 2A, 3F), and Sofia Frank finished third with a 50.90 (3Lz, 3F, 2A; attempted a 3Lz+3T but only was able to do a 3Lz).
Love Isabeau. Her speed in an issue. However, she really shows beautiful attention to her music and to small details like pointing get toes. She has the "it" factor that quite a few of our junior ladies lack. Hope she works on her speed.

Clare Seo was fantastic in the other Junior program section. She is first at 63, just ahead of Ji. These two along with Mia and Isabeau were the class of the junior field. Also, they are within three points of one another. Should be an interesting free skate.

Also, You Young just skated and was fantastic. Glad to see her back in form as a challenger. The ladies Senior Circuit is going to be super interesting this year.

Did Young land 3A?

Isabeau and Mia both have quads planned in their Free so it’ll be a very interesting battle to watch. Clare is the new dark horse because she has the strongest foundation skating skills and speed wise but we don’t know if she is planning a 3A or quad.

Definitely will be interesting. They all three put up good scores. I'm curious to see how they skate tomorrow. I would love for the US to develop more depth in ladies, especially with well-rounded skaters, and I'm hoping these girls can be a part of that.
Also, Young You's PCS was a bit... low for me. Her technical was about the same as the top three from Worlds, and that's with a popped triple toe to a double. And she's always been a solid skater for me. I wonder how they'll score Karen.

I think depth will definitely help the sport in the US and add to the spirit of the competition as well, with each lady pushing one another. Our junior ladies including Isabeau, Mia, Clare, Kanon, Lindsay, and a slew of others will probably go senior next season domestically (with Lindsay already having done so). With notable names probably retiring after the 2022 Olympics, we need all the talent we can get. However, the ice is slippery and nothing is ever guaranteed. I’m just glad to enjoy our ladies in the “now” without having expectations for the future.

Happy she landed her 3A. Young is a very solid skater but PCS wise she doesn't really commit to the performance, her transitions aren't usually impressive, and her SS are just so-so. I think that PCS is fair for what she usually puts out.

Keep in mind that summer competitions are in no way an indication of how good or bad a skater will skate later on. Summer competitions are used to test the waters and a way for skaters to start getting mileage on their programs. We may get an indication of where a skater is at in terms of elements or what they are expected to do later on but we cannot use them as the “end all be all.”

That being said, I’m excited for tomorrow and cannot wait to see how the ladies perform!

I think that you guys got a bit crazy with this golden Alysa hype...saying she will do 3A3T and 4Lz3T, did she do that ever? in a competition?
Even when she had 3A and 4Lz she was underrotating it a lot. There is still a loooot or work ahead of her, and I'm rooting for Alysa because I'm bored of Russians winning all the time but so far I don't see any golden material there.
Valieva had a very consistent 3A 4T and upcoming 4S, her PSC will be enormous as well.

Let's see how the season goes and see if Alysa will be able to stand her ground, I think Rika's example shows that this kind of pressure on a young girl never did any good to anybody.

She's done 3A3T all the time, it's the only way to do a 3A in a sp in junior competitions. No idea about 4Lz3T though.
Although in Rika's defense, she was certainly injured and you could argue that there's even more pressure on Kamila herself right now. Not sure why Kamila got sent to a bloodbath for her first international grand prix... though the second one should be a freebie.

Alysa's done the 3A+3T a lot in juniors since that's the only way to do a triple axel in the short program for a BV advantage. She did the 4Lz+3T once at the Junior Grand Prix Final, which was the only time in her junior season where she attempted two quad lutzes and two triple axels in a free program. It didn't go too well, as she fell on her first triple axel, and all her other ultra-C jumps were marked as UR. It works a lot better for Alysa to attempt two triple axels and just one quad lutz.

Kamila is the best skater in the world right now, probably by a wide margin considering her potential to do three quads (two 4Ts and a 4S) and two 3As in the LP. I don't think any GP line-up should be a problem for her to win.
