Not sure what you mean by "as small as Philly" (Philadelphia/Liberty historically being one of the higher-profile U.S. club events) and not a big deal one way or the other, but FWIW, Gracie was not a stranger to U.S. club competitions in her pre-comeback Senior/Junior years.

By no means an exhaustive list, but some random examples:
2015 Glacier Falls, 2014 Glacier Falls, 2011 Glacier Falls (article mentions that Gracie competed at 2011 Liberty too)

Anyway, I wish Gracie well.
And I think it's great that she has been touching a lot of lives with her coaching in recent years, both at IceWorks and on frequent visits to clubs further afield.

p.s. Happy Birthday to Gracie and Carly. 🎂
I did not mean to denigrate Philly comp. I went 2 years ago and had a wonderful time.

I meant “small” as compared to Nationals, Worlds, the Olympics, GP, and other such places she used to compete.

Even when I traveled to Philly in hopes of seeing her, I expected her to compete in Philly International and not Philly club comp.

Wow, it'll be a busy month for Alysa: Champs Camp, then Lombardia, then (I assume) Nebelhorn! Hopefully she'll train in Italy between Lombardia and Nebelhorn instead of flying back to the US.

Lombardia looks like it'll be a good comp for US women. With clean skates, Alysa should be the favorite to win and Audrey should podium :love2:

Not very much competition in these early events, but good for Alysa to rack up those world standings points!
Well, Mariah and Amber have BOTH defeated her before so, I wouldn't say "Not Very Much Competition" I would just say that Alysa is prepared and hungry to make that Olympic Team,

I was talking about how Lombardia is going to be another runaway win for Alysa.

But now that you mention it, when has Mariah ever beaten Alysa? Amber's only "victory" over her was by 1 point.

Usually team mishin is at lombardia. But I don't expect Liza to be in top shape. Still no easy win there vor liu, probably more a reality check

I believe Amber defeated Alysa at last years Nationals. Now that I look back, Mariah has never defeated Alysa "At Nationals". I keep thinking that Mariah won Nationals in 2020 but she got the Silver losing to Alysa.

No Russian skaters are on the entry list for Lombardia, as it clashes with test skates.
From the entry list so far, Alysa looks to be the favourite to win, with Paganini, Kurakova, Kiibus, Shin and possibly Gutmann fighting for the medals.

...But now that you mention it, when has Mariah ever beaten Alysa? ...

Mariah beat Alysa in ISP Points Challenge last season (Sep-Oct 2020).
By 19+ points in the overall standings.
And by 10+ points ("head to head," so to speak) in Opportunity #2. (Amber beat Alysa by 7+ points.)
(Alysa did not compete in Opportunity #1.)

In Nov 2020, Mariah also beat Alysa by over 28 points in person at Las Vegas Invitational -- for which skaters competed only their free skates.
Yes, I know that LVI was a team competition, and that Alysa had an injury. But you asked about "ever."

... She did say in a podcast she’d never skated at a Regionals or Sectionals until the one at Iceworks and she was the most nervous there she’d ever been. More than Worlds or Olympics. I thought that was odd - surely as a Novice?

Per Gracie's USFS bio, she competed in a total of seven Regionals/Sectionals events over five seasons of Intermediate/Novice/Junior.

In the podcast, she must have been referring to a lack of previous Senior-level experience at Regionals/Sectionals -- prior to Regionals at IceWorks in 2019.

I did not mean to denigrate Philly comp. I went 2 years ago and had a wonderful time. ...

Please don't worry, I knew all along that you were not denigrating Philadelphia. I'm sorry if my post came across the wrong way.
I remember very well that you made the looooong drive to Aston in 2019. And that throughout the week, you were extremely supportive of skaters at all three competitions (Collegiates + Philadelphia International + Philadelphia club competition) -- for which you had (and still have) my admiration. I enjoyed following your posts about your conversation with Hope, your favorite from Collegiates; about your interactions with Joonsoo and Akari; about your cheering for the adult skaters; and about many other nice experiences that you had at IceWorks. Thanks again for sharing so much back then, as you did last week from Cranberry and Lake Placid. :)

At the time of my original reply, it had seemed possible -- but not certain -- to me that this comparison is what you had in mind. Good to know that indeed it was.

The reason I had quoted your wording is that OTOH I truly had not known whether you possibly were alluding instead to the relative size of different club competitions. Would Glacier Falls "count" for you as something "as small as" Philadelphia Summer Championships? At the time of my original reply, I honestly could not tell.

Alysa’s team seems well aware of what she needs to work on. I am sure they know how tough the competition in her GP assignments are. To me they are taking the steps they need to give Alysa the best possible outcome in those tough fields.

Should've mentioned that I meant "events that are actually relevant"

"Relevance" is in the eye of the beholder.

For one thing, I would mention that ISP Points Challenge had significant prize money at stake.
Mariah's first place overall in ISP Points Challenge earned her $15,000. :)

(Alysa's fourth place overall earned her $3,000.
It was well before the Dec 2020 announcement of her Team Toyota sponsorship -- which I hope became a big help financially.)

I am sure the "Tara vs Johnny event" will be really significant for Mariah!!

Like it or not, Las Vegas Invitational was of some significance for Alysa -- in an unfavorable way (at least temporarily), because whether fairly or unfairly, it made many observers wonder how the future would unfold for her.
(ETA:
As I already had said in my earlier post, I know that she had an injury at the time.)

Fortunately, 2021 Nationals was a reassuring chance to see Alysa's improvement. And Cranberry has been the latest evidence of her upward trajectory.

(I like Alysa -- who first attracted my attention when she was an Intermediate -- but I do not worship at her feet.
And I like other U.S. women too. :))

Actually, until Kwan the norm was for the ladies to only go one olympic cycle.
As others have already pointed out, this is not the case at all! To add to some of the other skaters that have already been mentioned, Olympic champions Tenley Albright (1952 - Silver, 1956 - Gold), Carol Heiss (1956 - Silver, 1960 - Gold), and Peggy Fleming (1964 - 6th, 1968 - Gold), and the immortal Sonja Henie of course attended 4 Olympics, winning Gold in her last 3 Olympics!

At this early stage, I'm very encouraged by the progress so far by the U.S. ladies - especially (no pressure!) Alysa Liu! Congratulations to Alysa on winning her first International this year! Onwards and upwards! She still has a ways to go yet to improve her PCS scores, and hopefully get her big jumps back and fully rotated, but she's already showed so much tremendous progress, even from Nationals! I LOVE both of her new programs for the Olympic season! Both feel 'Olympian' to me! I also LOVE that, like Alysa, several of the up and comers are going for triple axels and quad jumps as well!

Believe it or not...... Elena Liashenko went to 4 Olympic Games. I think she might hold the record.
Actually, the legendary Sonja Henie competed at 4 Olympiads as well! 1924, at age 11 where she placed 8th and last, then she went on to win the gold at the next 3 Winter Olympics, 1928, 1932, and 1936. Her 3 golds in the women's event is a record to this day!
