I don't think the discussion was in regards to the Russians, the discussion was based on what barometer would make the most sense to rank skaters: combined total scores or single event scores. My stance is that while combined total scores makes sense, it currently holds little value as there have only been three events thus far. I do not for a second doubt that many Russian skaters will make it to the Junior Grand Prix Final.There have been only 3 events, and the Russians just skated in their first one.
At SVK, the Russians earned gold and silver in Men; gold and bronze in Pairs; silver and bronze in Dance, and swept the podium in Women.
You can expect even better results at Krasnoyarsk, where there are 5 Russian entries in Men, Women and Dance, and 4 in Pairs; furthermore, few countries are sending their top competitors to such a home-loaded event.
Then the Russians will send their top medalists to the remaining events, where they will likely garner more medals and even higher scores.
So whether the JGP is decided by total points or medals, you can bet that most if not all the JGPFinalists will be Russian.
