Jason Brown

Ice certainly varies. I haven't gotten a really good look at what went wrong with the 3A, but Jason's cat like moves saved him from a fall. I think that he lost focus after that 3A and the combo spin was not centered. After that, he got himself back together and the rest of the program went well. It's early in the season after a weird year, so none of them are at their best. Today will be a high pressure day for the three top skaters and the group chasing them. I expect to see some great skating today and for sure, a lot of determination! I think the most passionate skater will win this one. We'll see!
 
I will try to gather my thoughts after getting some rest (apologies for not posting anything right away!), but...Jason won. And I couldn't be happier, regardless of what ppl say. In a sense, I think that SKATING -in capitals - also won today. And thst was much needed victory in my opinion.
Right now, I can only say that I am glad I braved out that trip & had chance to see live these 2 programs of Jason - both reminded me why I fell in love with skating, why I fell in love with Jason and how much influence Jadon has over my view of skating, the perception of it, not even only in singles.

Great photo! I stayed with the stream until the victory ceremony was done and Jason finally left the ice, dodging the Zamboni as he went. He looked like he was having a really great time! It certainly wasn't the best skate he ever had, but it was enough! So glad that you got to see him skate.
 
Congratulations to Jason for winning Finlandia Trophy with two masterful and sublime programs. :clap:

I like this version of Schindler's List. It hit me harder emotionally than the previous version.

 
I think he is much more open and expressive than he was two years ago. So far I’m kinda wondering why they made the changes they did in both programs, but since this was just the first outing for both I don’t want say I prefer one version or the other yet.

I will say I was wrong about the new FS costume. 😂 It didn’t bother me at all and I actually feel like the darkness is quite evocative.
 
I was also curious about the changes. I thought they were tweaking to see if they could get more points somewhere. Can anyone with more scoring knowledge tell if the changes added any additional point opportunities?
To me, it just looked like minor changes and reordering of spins.

The jump content was less ambitious than the previous choreo. No quad, and the combos were 3/2. But I assume that these are early season decisions and that the content will be upgraded as the season goes forward. I think they reasoned that Jason wouldn't need more to do well in this particular competition, and it seems that they were correct. He's got to work out the nerves and get into top condition. I think the next time we see SL at least, the jumps will be somewhat different. They did eliminate a few little choreo bits, like the little folk dance. This was an opportunity to get his feet on the ice in front of judges and see what happens. This was a confidence builder.
 
The jump changes are just probably standard reshuffles while the choreo is bedded in. Nothing to see there.

I do kind of miss that little dance he used to do after the second 3A? I liked the way he would lift his chin in defiance. You will not win, we will survive this. But the new cuts are beautiful and if possible the program does flow better.

They biggest change is that they have completely replaced the middle section of the music. Several jumps have been changed so at least at the moment his base value is lower than it has been. One thing I like a lot is that he now does a really beautiful Ina Bauer - this is a change. One thing I’m surprised at is that his trademark spiral is now quite a bit shorter.

However - I actually had flower crowns made for Jason and Tracy for 2020 Worlds that didn't happen :(. They are ready to go, but taking into consideration the sanitary protocols etc. I doubt I would be able to gift Jason/Tracy with crowns now (for example at Finlandia Trophy where I will be in person).

You learned to make such beautiful crowns in just one or two years or less? Much respect:bow: (I am thinking of the crowns you made for Chock and Bates that looked so beautiful on Madison in the Kiss and Cry. Sorry, my brain is a sieve so I don't remember which comp that was).

I noticed that also and the Ina Bauer. The program is good. It will grow as the season moves forward. It's beautiful and it speaks to people. The base value will go up.

Jason and Dimitri often like each others photos/videos on Instagram (especially the ones that are skating related) or if one of them got a medal or something. Nice feeling when (in my case) your top two favorite male skaters are friendly with each other. Dimitri is a very nice guy as well.
