No, that is Kate Wang. However, Josephine Lee did give this update on her Instagram account:

Another new experience I did not anticipate. Before my short program, I collided with another skater while I was mid air and I went flying and landed directly on my head. I was beyond lucky that Dr. Levy was the volunteer doctor on site. He took great care of me and directed me to the ER. The heroes at Henderson Hospital were beyond amazing and went above and beyond. From examination, CT scan, and diagnosis, they got me in and out in under 2 hours so that I could make my short program. I can't thank Dr. Levy and the nurses and doctors at Henderson Hospital enough. Thank you to US Figure Skating for accommodating and adjusting my skating order so I could make it! I was given the option to withdraw but I decided to try and compete. I ended up first in the short and third overall!

:ot: Does anyone know what Angela Wang is up to these days? I saw her perform at Lake Arrowhead several years ago and I thought she was amazing. Is she coaching somewhere? I always thought she had great technique.

Well she is a US lady so not as off topic as we've gotten in the past :rofl:

According to the ever-reliable Wikipedia, she's not competed since the last Olympic season, but there's nothing else listed for what she's currently doing at least skating-wise

Angela's IG page has updates from time to time. She was part of the professional staff at Sun Valley Ice Shows this summer. Here she is backflipping with Elladj:

 
I miss Angela's skating. I met her at 2018 Nationals - she was very nice.

Just wanted to comment on Mariah's new SP - it's a bit of a snooze but it fits her more than the Lady Gaga program - perhaps she can salvage it for an Exhibition number. She looks to be in better shape than Cranberry but she has to get her 3F3T back into her programs, otherwise she is not going to make any case to get her on the Olympic team.

Looking forward to seeing Amber, Bradie and Audrey this coming week at Skate America - let the Grand Prix Series begin!

The program might not be my favorite but, she is so good at it. So expressive and exciting to watch. She'll need that 3/3 but this program is a big step up from Lady Gaga

I'd rather she ditch those rippon jumps and try to skate clean it was hard watching her fall all over the place at Nationals last season trying those stupid rippon jumps. Her coach should have told her to knock it off and do the jumps she could land.
 
Add me to the list of people glad Mariah ditched her old programs. I feel like if this were not an Olympic season she'd have time to tweak them and make them work. In an Olympic season, everything you do counts so there's not time to test the waters with those programs.

I'm excited for Skate America this week too. There's been a decent amount of skating going on over the past few weeks but nothing has the excitement like a Grand Prix event does.

As for SA, I'm really hoping at least one American makes it to the podium. The field is pretty stacked to the point it could be tough for them to get into the top 5 if they don't go out and throw down. I feel like Trusova is basically a lock to win (even if she's a bit of a mess) but I'm hoping it actually ends up being a competition for once...

I remember that and it was painful to watch. She did hit all of her jumps this time, though! She fairly recently switched coaches from Olga Ganicheva to Misha Ge and his father, so hopefully she worked out those kinks with her jump technique. Seems like she got her confidence back.

Fantastic clip! Although it must be said, many of us old-timers do not need a reminder about who can do backflips on the ice, as there is a long legacy of the move (although not a long list of skaters with such an impressive niche skill). We fondly remember the incomparable Surya Bonaly, as well as Brian Orser, Robin Cousins - and many others - along with Scott Hamilton and Michael Weiss, who mastered this fabulous maneuver. In fact, there is footage online of female skater Janet Champion doing a cartwheel into several backflips (no toe pick, but the gymnastic back flip in skates on the ice!) before ending in the splits. Insane, and amazing.

Hell, one of my coaches back in the '80s would do a backflip for me at the end of my lesson if I'd made improvements. So, cheers to the history of backflips on the ice!
 
Some notes from the two Championship Series events which took place:

Soho Lee, 12, won the junior division of the US Figure Skating Championship Series in Allen, Texas scoring 164.80. Lee cleanly landed six of seven triples and received all Level 4's for her spins and Level 3 of her step sequence.

At the senior level, Gabriella Izzo scored 183.07 to take home the gold; Izzo landed five triples cleanly and received all Level 4's.

At the novice level in Henderson, Elyce Lin-Gracey (12) took home the gold after landing six triples and earning all Level 4's. Sonia Baram came in second, landing six triples including a 3S1Eu3S. Thailand's Phattaratida came in third, landing seven triples and winning the free skate portion of the junior division.

Also in Henderson, Alayna Coats took home the gold with a score of 62.84 in the juvenile division. Coats cleanly landed a 2A2T2Lo, 2A, and 3S.

I hope Bradie's in decent shape and doesnt withdraw at the let minute. I also wish Alyssa was going to be there, she's probably the only US girl that could medal.

Is she no longer in the Dallas area?
 
I can’t help but to feel that the Olympic team will end up being Alysa, Karen, and Lindsay. We are about 2 months and a few weeks away from nationals and we haven’t seen Bradie compete a single time. Hopefully, she will be back in time for her second Grand Prix assignment as well as those challengers, but will her performances there be enough? As for Mariah, I’m happy she changed her programs but again, we are 2 months and some change away from nationals and she doesn’t seem to be fighting for an Olympic spot. I would’ve been more impressed if she attempted a triple-triple and fell rather than playing it safe at the end of October. It also didn’t help that she decided not to do the long; I would’ve felt more hopeful for her if she had fought through a long, even with some under-rotations and a fall or two, and won that event. I agree that Lindsay has a long way to go in terms of skating ability, espression, and general maturity, but she is rotating and landing triple-triples and standing up on triple axel attempts. The USFS will certainly reward that.
