I can’t help but to feel that the Olympic team will end up being Alysa, Karen, and Lindsay. We are about 2 months and a few weeks away from nationals and we haven’t seen Bradie compete a single time (hopefully she will be back in time for her second Grand Prix assignment as well as those challengers). As for Mariah, I’m happy she changed her programs but again, we are 2 months and some change away from nationals and she doesn’t seem to be fighting for an Olympic spot. I would’ve been more impressed if she attempted a triple-triple and fell rather than playing it safe at the end of October. It also didn’t help that she decided not to do the long; I would’ve felt more hopeful for her if she had fought through a long, even with some under-rotations and a fall or two, and won that event. I agree that Lindsay has a long way to go in terms of skating ability, espression, and general maturity, but she is rotating and landing triple-triples and standing up on triple axel attempts. The USFS will certainly reward that.
I feel like your prediction will be right. Bradie and Mariah have a chance and I think they will be stronger by Nationals, but there isn't a lot of time left. I do hope Bradie and Mariah come fighting back strong but I'm starting to worry about Bradie.

Sorry for Bradie. But what a shame that Alysa wasn't assigned to Skate America. She is in a near-impossible field in Canada and a not much better one in Japan. She could have medaled here. As it is, she seems unlikely to medal anywhere, with no chance to make the GPF, meaning no US skater has a chance, now that Bradie is out (not that Bradie's chances were great, either).
If Alysa outscores Wakaba and one of the Russians wavers ever so slightly, I think Alysa has a very slim chance at a bronze at Skate Canada. At NHK her chances seem slightly better. But it is unfortunate because she probably could've even won Skate America if Trusova has another bad long.

Kihira's WD from SCI means there is a strong possibility for a podium finish for Alysa. Even silver would not be out of the question.
Did Rika withdraw from Skate Canada? If so, that moves Alysa up a slot but a medal will still be difficult against the three Russians.

As much as I would love to see Alysa medal, I agree. Even with Rika's WD, it will be difficult. She's up against 3 Russian women with 3As (1 of them has quads) and 2 Japanese women with 3As. The SCI field is so stacked but ice is slippery so you never know.

Won't even get into Kamila, but Liza just scored a 233. Yes, it was generous but I'm not sure Alysa can beat that or Aliona, even Aliona who isn't her best. She's vulnerable though, so it's possible, but I think just off the podium for Alysa would be good for her. There is Wakaba and Mana who also have 3A's as well, though I think she can beat them with her consistency.

Sad for Bradie, but not counting her out yet.

:ot: Does anyone know what Angela Wang is up to these days? I saw her perform at Lake Arrowhead several years ago and I thought she was amazing. Is she coaching somewhere? I always thought she had great technique.
She's still skating professionally. Was on cast of Sun Valley on Ice this past summer and now a cast member with Ice Dance International's performance troupe. ;)

ETA: I just saw after posting that el henry posted an IG post from Wang's account. Anyway, she was great, as always in SV this summer.

Bradie Tennell withdrew from Skate America. Starr Andrews is her replacement.

I really hope Bradie is ok….

I like Starr and hope she succeeds but I don't understand why Gabby Izzo didn't get the replacement spot. She's been out-skating Starr and doesn't have a GP assignment, while Starr already has IdF. I hope Gabby was offered the spot and turned it down.

I don't think the USFS can decide the replacement (but could be wrong). I think they have to go with the highest ranked skater so Starr must have a higher WS ranking.

Ashley Wagner intimated she thought that Bradie took her Olympics spot (not Karen)
Are you sure about this? When and where did Ashley 'intimate' this? I followed her pretty closely, and I never heard her say it. I don't believe she wrote it anywhere either.

She did feel that the judges at Nationals denied her the PC marks she was still getting Internationally. Many people agree.
ETA: In fact, it's not about people agreeing or not. It's a matter of record.

Interesting that Ashley thought it was Bradie who replaced her rather than Karen.

LOL. It's like a childhood game of 'gossip' or 'telephone'? See how quickly falsehoods mushroom?

I like Ashley's skating but no one TOOK her spot -

What if Ashley never said or implied that someone 'took her spot'? What gossip are you spreading, that hurts an athlete's reputation? In fact, she didn't say anything against the 3 women who were sent to 2018 olympics. She specifically had no complaints about the other skaters.

Aliona doesn't land 3A consistently this season. Her SS is regressing. If you read Russian ladies forum, you will see lots of Russian fans are puzzling about who will be on Olympics team. 3A (Anna, Aliona, Sasha) team except Sasha seems pass their peak. Anna is injured and Aliona seems like never recovered from COVID. Some new seniors are promising especially Kamila. Kamila can win gold at both GP and Olympics easily. Tuk is solid in both finlandy tropjy and World but she had melt down in Russian test skates (LP). Other seniors are mystery. You have no idea who can land 3A and Quad in next competition (Except Kamila). Same for Japanese women team, they don't have a clear lock. Their team is also a big mystery. Sadly. Rika also seems like pass her peak. If you follow Asian Open Trophy ladies result, japanese girl's scores are not up to the roof yet (Koari's score is 202.28). Rika is injured and others like satoka is a big question mark. If Alysa can land 3A in both short and long at Skate Canada, I don't see why Alysa cannot be on podium in Skate Canada unless all judges are Rus's fed friends. I think healthy Wakaba poses more threat to Alysa than Rika and Aliona at this moment.

Honestly, the real goal for Alysa is to be placed in top 5 at GP and top 3 at Nats. If she can be on podium at GP, it's great. If not, it's not a big deal. She already won 3 golds from CS this season. She is a lock anyway.
