2021 Skate America: Men's Short Program

I'm not concerned about Nathan at all. He uses his GPs to tune jump timings. There is already a pattern to what he does. And he comes strong by the end of the season. He is not injured, landed sort of safely on that Lz fall, and the step out was bc he sort of landed on the blade's toe pick. He'll just keep working, business as usual.

The second group was an absolute disaster. Except for Uno, who was lovely outside the pop on the 4F.

If Zhou keeps it together in the free, he could win considering his SP lead.

Well it's better that Nathan makes these mistakes now then at the Olympics again. He was due for a bad skate and this will either break him or fire him up. His tech value in the LP should at the very least overtake every and maybe even Vincent if he skates close to clean.
Don't jinx it...maybe this was a prelude to what's to come?

Please, please let it be an ice issue
Something in the air. The skaters are not ready or something. This is much worse than pairs. The ladies and ice dancers will surely do better tomorrow.

It did look as if Nathan's skate blade caught a rut on the landing on the final jump where he leaned off-balance. Bad luck, and maybe his head is just not in competitive mode yet. Times are strange.
