I'm really worried... 2 programs in so short time?... I personally i dind't have anything against the old programs... the SP wasn't to my of tea but she made it work... and it's true that the FP was far from perfect but I even liked it... Now the new programs... either she was already working on them after test skates ( and that could justified the zero progression in the FP) or it's too short of time to have 2 programs ready even if one was already more or less known by her. I would have kept the SP for now and just changed the FP

And while I'm less surprised that they decided to do a "Lovely" FS, I am shocked that she'll have a brand-new SP. (Or maybe it's just the same choreo to different music...?)

I guess "New York, New York" is easier on the ears, but I'm not sure it really fits Aliona's personality. I would prefer something darker and slinkier, and less jazz-handy... My other concern is that the Sinatra version (if that's what she's using) is rather slow in tempo--I think she does better with faster-paced songs. But we shall see!!

I just hope that Aliona has had enough time to practice these programs and that she can remember the choreography! :pray:

Daniil could surprise us with some weird mixing between frank sinatra and something else. Lovely is not just the song lovely but several compositions combined so to prevent monotony I would think they’d do something similar here with New York, New York?
 
I'm a little surprised that not everyone is on board with these changes. Aleona is brilliant and at 18 she knows what she's doing.
 
Won't lie when I heard Aliona had changed programs part of me was hoping one of them would be Grace Carter's "Wicked Game" cover, it's already the perfect length for a SP and judging from her past instagrams she seems to love the song, it would fit her like a glove. But I guess now that she's gone back to "Lovely" the programs would feel too similar.

Honestly, I'm glad she's changed them because neither program was working, there was just nothing for her to connect to in that Vivaldi FP. She's at her best when embodying a character imo and I think "Lovely" will allow her to do that more, I actually really liked the arrangement for the most part, the only thing I'm not a fan of is that remix towards the end, she needs a bigger finish so I'm hoping they can rework that a little bit.

My only worry is changing programs last season ended up being a mess for her, but she also did it very late in the season last time so if she's going to do this it *has* to be now. Post-GPF will be too late.

Definitely curious to see how "New York, New York" goes, if nothing else it'll at least be a way better song to listen to even if it's not fully realised as a program yet. We have no real basis for comparison to see if it will suit her.

ETA: Also... I would love it if it's Lady Gaga's version she's using. I could really see that being a *moment* if done right! 🥰🥰🥰

She may not have changed them for Skate Canada, the website still says that she has Beth Hart as her sp and Vivaldi as her long.

Ummm... yeah, I wish she was like that and never acted on a sudden impulse.. ;) We will see but I'm not sure I remember when changing programs like crazy was a good thing.. still praying for the best result possible, of course...
 
I am suspecting that NY NY might have been planned as an EX for this year. That’s why they switched to it, just adjusting it to competitive SP. Then this decision makes sense, and it’s probably not hard for her to switch the program.
For Lovely, it was already of a length close to FS, when it was being skated in shows, so not that much new to learn there as well.

If this is they way I am assuming, then it should be just fine. I am certainly hoping they worked hard with her in preparation for GP, that her killer competitive instincts will kick in full force and she shows everyone she’s not the one to be counted out.

Thank you ... I'm going be realistic .. I think that is the layout that eteri would want .... but unless something happened in this to week( and I hope had happened) ... I'm a little scary that she can faill with so much change ....
In the other hand, the 3A wasn't a question of techinc only head ... so everything is possible

I'm not sure she did forget. Maybe she felt unable to do a 3A combo, or feared a lack of stamina if she jumped it.

Or she was already so focused on not forgetting the choreo which she was struggling to remember that she genuinely did forget it, but it was related to something else overwhelming her mind and not necessarily the layout itself?
