It seems like the season has just begun, and it has, but it’s only two months until Nationals and Jason will only have 1 or 2 more competitions to make this program magical.
The whole point of doing a program over 2 seasons is that you can say more with it because you’re not starting from scratch. Year 2 of Piano was infinitely better than year 1, not because the choreography was radically different but because Jason’s interpretation and movement were deeper and more nuanced (and of course his costume and hair were better

).
In some ways this seems like an entirely new program - only the beginning section and the ending spin are the same. And instead of a deeper interpretation of an existing program, he’s trying to make sense of almost entirely new choreography.
And I don’t get it, because the old choreography was beautiful and worked well for him, and the changes seem almost random. Not sure if they were his idea or if someone convinced him that he shouldn’t do the exact same program but I think whoever it was, was wrong! Among other things, that layout worked really well for the 4T he was then including, and I don’t see why it wouldn’t work equally well for the 4S (or 3F, as proposed by
@karne).
Anyway, I hope I’m wrong about everything and being overly pessimistic about it all and that he will indeed be able to weave his magic with it.

But I do worry.
