Isabeau especially makes Bradie's life more difficult, since based on the competition results from the fall, Alysa and Isabeau are the odds on favorite to go 1-2 at Nationals. Bradie gets hurt the most from this since the other US ladies can get themselves in group 3 just through their results in the fall, but Bradie can only get into group 3 if she places top 3 at US Nationals, so Bradie needs to finish third more than the other US ladies, and Isabeau taking a spot in the top 3 just makes Bradie's life more difficult.

Well, Alysa knocked Senior Ladies off the Podium and she still didn't qualify for Senior Worlds. Even if Iasbeau, who I love, along with Lindsay and Alysa, were to Win Nationals, she is not old enough to go to the games. That's all I'm talking about.

Isabeau is NOT eligible to for the Olympics even if she defeats Bradie at Nationals. As the defending champion, if Bradie is in the top 3 eligible Ladies at Nationals, she'll be selected for the team. Unfortunately, her health is still a big question mark so, we'll just have to wait it out.

This seems unlikely based on the criteria that USFS has put forth. In the US Championships criteria, it just says "Athletes/teams who placed in the top 3 at the 2022 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships" for group 3. Since there's never an asterisk that stipulates it must be out of senior-eligible competitors, I don't think that Bradie can be in group 3 so long as she's among the top 3 senior-eligible competitors, if she's not also in the top 3 overall.

Furthermore, since body of work will be the differentiating factor among skaters in the groups, Bradie really needs a strong showing at Nationals. She won't have a body of work while the other US ladies will, so she needs to blow them out of the water with her performance at US Nationals. It's really looking quite bleak for her, I'll be honest. :(

If Bradie skates well, she has nothing to worry about. She'll rack up the GOE on her successful elements and get among the highest PCS in the event.
 
Terrible freaking news re Bradie. Just terrible.

Hope she is 100% good to go by nationals, but those prospects seem to be dimming by the day. It will be heartbreaking to see her there struggling to compete.

You never want the champion to be surpassed because she isn‘t healthy. Even her competitors won‘t want to win like that. Your victory means more when you beat the best.

A healthy Bradie being the key word, and we know that's not where she's at right now. If Bradie is at 100%, she would have no problem beating most of the other US ladies due to her consistency and more difficult tech content than everyone except Alysa (and Amber, if she ever decides to put in the triple axel). But even at her best, Bradie regularly underrotates triple-triples, especially the ones in the second half (just like Alysa).

I don't know how to respond to this comment because it all depends on Bradie's Health. Other than Alysa, who has 2 Titles? Karen has 1 title and has done well at 2 worlds with 4th place finishes. However, she did not skate well at her first event this season and that doesn't help her. A healthy Bradie is the only lady other than Alysa that has solid, reliable, 3/3 combinations. As for Body Of Work.....Bradie is the only US Lady with Olympic Experience.

That's right. Karen was outside the top 10 there and has lost to Bradie at every event except Worlds 2021. With her 2 titles, and competitive record against Karen, I couldn't put her on the team if Bradie beats her at Nationals.

The Instagram right before SA from Bradie made it seem like she simply hadn't had enough time to get ready to compete but if she really has been back on the ice training for the last few weeks then she would have competed later this season even if she's not in prime shape. But to cancel everything before Nationals says to me she is still injured.

Maybe. But maybe not. It might make sense for her to turn up at Nationals acting like nothing ever happened.

If she shows up at Nationals in her best form (or close to it), then it leaves a good impression to whoever is on the selection committee.
But, if she competes when she’s not ready, and it doesn’t end well, then there is already a bad impression in the judges’ minds, so even small mistakes will seem worse.

Also, Bradie did manage to make it to the GPF two seasons ago in what was an incredibly stacked field. She does have some experience going up against the best in the world.

I think my larger point is that based on the criteria set out by USFS at the beginning of the season, prior Olympic experience or National championships doesn't matter. Now of course, it won't be totally irrelevant, since the selection panel is human after all, and it could give a skater an edge when the margins are close, but based on the criteria set out by USFS at the start of this season, international competitions before 2021 Worlds basically don't exist. The only competitions that count toward BOW are results from the fall competition circuit, 2022 US Nationals, and 2021 Worlds, with maybe 2021 US Nationals as a tiebreaker if the previous criteria weren't enough to differentiate skaters. This really disadvantages Bradie, since even though she has the best BOW over the past quad, she will have the weakest BOW over the past season due to injury compared to the other contenders for the Olympic spots.

I was following you, but sometimes the second 3-3 is stronger than the first in Bradie’s LP. It just depends on how tight she is before going into the jumps. She is a super ultra consistent skater on a US scale.
 
Bradie is on the team if she’s top 3 and still on the team if top 4 in an Isabeau-included lineup. The committee will not pass over Bradie for Amber or Karen. Mariah is the other huge question mark.

It’s almost embarrassing that Karen’s best combo across her competition is a 3-2. I’ve seen those since the 90s. It just makes US women look even more vulnerable than they already are.
 
The news about Bradie is disheartening but if there’s anyone who can show up and show out at Nationals, I trust her to do it. Bradie has carried the US women for nearly four years and she has the most compelling OVERALL body of work amongst all the US women.

• Personal Best scores: 200.59 during 2020-2021, 222.97 during 2019-2020, and 225.64 during 2018-2019
• Ranked 10 in the world from 2018-2019, 4 from 2019-2020, and 5 from 2020-2021
• Earned 1 medal at the Four Continents Championships, 2 Grand Prix medals, 2 Challenger medals, and made it to the Grand Prix Final once
• Placed 7th at 2019 Worlds and 9th at 2021 Worlds
• Out of 13 international competitions from 2018 to 2021, Bradie scored below 200 total points 3 times

Bradie more than deserves the Olympic spot if she shows up to Nationals healthy and competitive.
 
Gracie Gold is still very much skating for an Olympic spot. Seem like all the others are faltering as well in one way or another.
