At this point is there a possibility that she would just withdraw from Nationals if the injury is this serious?

Disagree (would love to be proven wrong though), Amber struggles with nerves, I have my doubts in the biggest competition of the season that plays a big part in getting on the Olympic team is going to be the time she's able to corral her nerves to land the triple axel.
And honestly if I was her team I wouldn't put that triple axel in unless absolutely necessary, with the exception of Alysa and Lindsay, everything we've seen and heard of the other contenders for the team are a bit of mess - maybe look to see how Mariah does in the GP series and go with her Skate America layout and focus on being clean.
She never even tries it. Its very sad. How can you know she is struggling with it in competition?Amber's 3A has looked very solid in practice for at least a year. She just struggles with it in competition.
She has tried it at least twice in 2021 — at Nationals & Cranberry Cup — URs with a stumble (but not a fall), iirc. She never even tries it. Its very sad. How can you know she is struggling with it in competition?
She also tried it at Finlandia. So, basically she has tried it at 2 out of 3 competitions she entered this season. Not sure where this " she never tries it " belief comes from. She never even tries it. Its very sad. How can you know she is struggling with it in competition?
The best possible result for Gracie at this point would be a top 6 finish at Nationals and maybe a 4 CCs assignment if she wants it. And that’s a very remote possibility.Gracie Gold is still very much skating for an Olympic spot. Seem like all the others are faltering as well in one way or another.
She does have another Challenger upcoming. She is continuing to (very slowly) improve. To clarify I’m not talking about her going to the Olympics but to make Nationals.I just can’t believe people continue talking about Gracie like she is in contention for the Olympics. A dozen or so American athletes would need to be injured for this to even be a conversation. She can’t land any triples in the second half of her fee skate and she never even attempts and misses combos where she just leaves points off the table. With the way she is skating, the conversation is more about whether or not she can even grab one of 18 spots at Nationals. I believe she currently is holding on to the last spot with 5/8 of the Challenger Series completed.
I have been watching figure skating since 1976 with my mother and probably before that but 1976 is the first I remember. The US ladies used to be powerhouses and may be again with some of the juniors we have coming up, but right now we are not. Karen Chen is the reason we have 3 spots for Worlds next year and the reason we were able to compete for 3 spots for the Olympics. I would like to see her rewarded for that. And a LOT of stars had to align for that to happen. US ladies used to be favorites for gold and if they messed up it was oh rats they got silver instead, now its we need them to be clean (or at least called clean...) and others to mess up (and potentially mess up a lot) for them to get on the podium. Perhaps if a lot of us haven't been fans of figure skating for years where we remember the era of US ladies being the powerhouse country we would look at Karen Chen's fourth place finish as a huge achievement like we do when we see Loena Hendrickx place bronze at GP event or place fifth at Worlds.
I admit I have mixed feelings on whether I agree or not with BV of TES affecting PCS. On 1 hand I say TES BV should not, there are skaters like Satoko (though she generally does get pretty good PCS) or Sasha Cohen (to bring in a US lady so I'm not off-topic) makes you forget their TES deficiencies/problems, but on the other hand I can justify - its more difficult to perform/interpret a program when you are doing more difficult technical elements.
I don’t know but she’s not skating well at all. I was heartbroken for her at her Challenger. Is Ting Cui automatically locked out of Group 1 and Group 2 for the Olympic team because she hasn't been in international competitions for 2 years?
She tried to do it at Cranberry Cup. I was there and saw it.She never even tries it. Its very sad. How can you know she is struggling with it in competition?
Very remote; very sadly remote!! But one can dream and maybe, just maybe.,, I mean she has the goods to but...The best possible result for Gracie at this point would be a top 6 finish at Nationals and maybe a 4 CCs assignment if she wants it. And that’s a very remote possibility.

I am absolutely convinced that the reason she didn't try it at Skate America (I was there, people talked about it for days) is because of the terrible condition of the ice during the pre competition practices and first night of comp. Trusova had the worst practice she's ever had of her career, and the Men's short was a splatfest. When the ice is that hard, higher rotational jumps (3A and quads) are much more likely to not get landed safely. She has tried it at least twice in 2021 — at Nationals & Cranberry Cup — URs with a stumble (but not a fall), iirc.
I saw her do a gorgeous one in Skate America practice; crowd erupted when she landed it. But she had a weird warmup before the SP (with a near-collision at full speed) & had to try the setup for her combo several times. Ran out of time to test the 3A.
We’ll see what happens at NHK this week.
WHAT. OMG. That is HUGE news. That means Trusova can't make the GPF!Trusova is out of NHK. A chance for Alysa! A win here appears more likely with both Trusova and Kihira gone. Winning NHK could be enough for the final.
Alysa main competition remains Daria Usacheva and Young You. I think to win, Alysa would have to do a 3A in both the short and the long.Trusova is out of NHK. A chance for Alysa! A win here appears more likely with both Trusova and Kihira gone. Winning NHK could be enough for the final.
Do you really think a win is likely? I mean it is possible but I wouldn't say likely. In this competition, Alysa will be competing against Kaori PB 228, Young You PB 223, and Daria PB 217. Based on the way these skaters have been scored up to this point, I don't see Alysa as a favorite for gold. She definitely has a chance to medal now!Trusova is out of NHK. A chance for Alysa! For Alysa to win, she would need to do multiple triple axels cleanly and clean triple-triples, as she will be up against Kaori, Daria, and Young. She and Young You will have similar tech content with the triple axels, but Young You does a better job of rotating. Kaori and Daria both don't have ultra-C elements, but they are much cleaner with their triple-triples and will probably get better GOE and PCS than Alysa. Alysa certainly has a chance, but she will need to show significant improvement from Skate Canada.Trusova is out of NHK. A chance for Alysa!
