Stephen Gogolev has withdrawn from the 2022 Skate Ontario Sectional. As he was assigned to 2021 Warsaw Cup, he has a bye to 2022 Skate Canada Challenge and was not required to compete at this event. His next event will be November 18-21.

Perhaps that was a clerical error which is now corrected. He is listed as competing in sectionals as of this afternoon. Only Cory Circelli is shown as withdrawn now. I am glad to see that he is competing before the Warsaw Cup.

I think the WD symbol, which was put before his name, 🤔 indicates that he has WD. I have checked the list (from your link) again and found nothing changed.

a disappointing season is better than no season at all? i guess... sigh... I miss Jo so badly.... I need his skating in my life... when patrick retired, I put all my fanboying (canadian one) into jo and conrad.
 
Well this certainly is a far different team going into Beijing than 2018 Olympics..

Men: well.. Keegan looks to be an early favourite but its a long season still.. The other guys have a ton to prove. Nam.. honestly... just count him out.. hes just not good enough. Hes made small improvements again this year but its not where he needs to be. The FS is just too much for him IMO.. Roman.. looking shaky at start of the year.. not too sure what to make of him.. I think he would have to have a slam dunk rest of the year to have a chance at the olympics even if he won the nationals. Gogolev.. is a pretty big unknown.. I cant really comment on him yet. I know hes at Warsaw Cup coming up so we will see a glimpse there. Really no one else can even try to compete IMO. Keegan is a best bet for an olympic spot and you know hes got the best chance at finishing top 5-10 aswell barring a complete miracle from someone else.

Women.. Hot Mess... I dont know how else to describe it. Emily and Alison have next to no chance at grabbing an olympic spot. Lord help us if they do go.. Madeline looks far and away the best right now. She is a pretty decent skater and shes got the necessary combos to be half decent if she skates clean. She did manage a 13th place at worlds, and a 9th in the SP last year which was quite shocking considering. I think if Madeline skated clean in both programs she can maybe manage 10th. Gabby.. honestly still might be Canada's best bet at an olympics. No idea how she will react in big events. She didnt have a great Autumn Classic. She does seem to be very very strong in practice but we have yet to see that in competition.

Pairs... Between Eric and Vanessa and Kirsten and Dylan I am not sure who I'd take at this point yet. I would like to think Eric and Vanessa have a better chance but they're so so new. They have skated pretty decent considering they're brand new. They are already giving MTM a run for their money. It wouldnt surprise me come nationals if J/R claim a national title. Its going to be a very interesting season watching the judges scores for them. Other teams like Walsh/ Michaud I frankly think are a write off. They just dont have start quality in my opinion. They're already in their 4th or 5th year being a senior team and I havn't seen any massive improvements. They need a lot of work that I am not sure they are capable of.

Ice Dance.. Obv Piper and Paul are Canada's leaders. Their scores have been quite high. Their scores at Skate Canada beat both US teams at Skate America in the RD. I'm LOVING the young Marjorie and Zachary team. They're so fun to watch. They really remind me of a Tessa and Scott. They have fantastic skating skills and great creativity and I get a feeling come next olympic games in 2026 they'll be very competitive. Soucisse and Firus just cant seem to muster any huge improvements. They're still young but I am not sold on them being relevant in competing for a top spot in the world anytime soon. They're fun to watch but they need a lot of work in the skating department. Former Danes now Canadians Fournier-Beaudry/Sorrensen are wonderful to watch aswell. I have really come to like them. They're solid. TBH frankly I think they're a bit underscored by the judges. Ice Dance is far and away Canada's discipline right now.

For me, Jo is like a mini Patrick 😂, and to be honest, my favorite part of watching 2021 Skate Canada International is to see Patrick in the venue again. Feels like he was home again after so many years.
 
Without Stephen, I sure hope Joseph makes a statement and wins this event. I think I cursed him when I called him Baby Patrick. Maybe too much pressure to match a Legend like Patrick. Still love his style and I wish him the best.

Unfortunately, Joseph has withdrawal from the Sectionals too! 🙏
P.s: oh yeah! I feel strange that everytime someone is called by the term "The next Patrick Chan", his career path would probably turn into a whole mess! 😕
(Oh yeah! I was so angry with fans of the Canadian youngsters like Roman or Nam because they had always disrespected Patrick's achievements and legacy despite the fact that their faves had not won any international titles for Canada. But after all, the boys are all human, not in the same class with Patrick but it's not always their faults that we have no contender in the men field. 😓)
