Veronik leads the SP in Quebec, however, nobody did very well... the event is judged harshly by looking at both the GOE and Tech Panel, but even more so in the PCS department... so I am not too worried about the low scores... Veronik fell on her opening 3flip. She did a 3t-2t for a combo and had a glorious 2a like always... Sarah-Maude Dupuis, whom I believe may climb up the rankings in seniors gradually after winning challenge in juniors landing pretty much all her jumps, had some carrots in her 3t-3t and 3f.... Alicia Pineault was making a come back... attempted her 3t-3t combo but fell on the second jump, then played popcorn on both successive jumping passes

Gosh... I missed the whole section. Guess I would have to take a look later. :rolleyes: How about the men SP results?

the men are completely done SP and LP but nobody of "national" interest was competing... and my faves (Jo Phan and Antoine Goyette) were also not competing... Jo, I believe has w/d from the Ontario sectionals.. .Antoine, I don't know... Since Elladj and Nic Nadeau have gone, there is not much to look at in the Quebec's men section...especially when Jo decides to compete in Ontario...

Guess we just have to wait for the future generation. Anw, it seems like Patrick is now a part of the coaching team of Travis Trang, the boy who has won the silver medal at the 2022 Alberta Sectionals in Pre-Novice Men. :) Travis's mom has mentioned Patrickseveral times as her son is a big fan of Chiddy too! 🥰

Women's LP is ongoing right now at Patinage Québec
The final flight is coming up with Alicia Pineault, Sarah-Maude Dupuis and Veronik Mallet

and also, Gabby is making progress. I think Madeline will be hard to catch but I wish Gabby to regain her form and momentum ! Personal victories, if anything, are worth so much more than titles and medals, when looking back..

The closest target for Gabby is probably the podium at the Nats. At this point, we really need her to stay healthy and strong. :rolleyes: For Maddie, if she intends to continue her competitive routine in the upcoming seasons, she has a lot of rooms to improve too.
 
Not to rub salt on an open wound but I think Skate Canada has been trying to promote Em Bausback as the #1 figure skater so much that they failed to recognize Maddie's talent for the longest time, and did not send her on JGP assignments to gain valuable experience. 😕 On the other hand, a good new is that she’s improving at an exponential rate. At this point, If SkateCan hestitates about sending her to Beijing 2022, they are definitely blind! 🤷‍♂️

in some ways, they have pushed a lot of people based on the last nationals... Roman, Trennt and Evelyn etc... and, well, with Nationals being canceled last year, they have simply kept pushing and pushing... At that point in time, Madeline did not have a triple lutz, let alone a 3Lz-3T combo... Emily has a somewhat half reliable 3f-3t with a step out... To me, it still doesn't matter. The juniors will be better than our current crop of women. The novices will be even better. We can see it coming. It's a question of patience. I wish for Madeline that she earns her ticket by winning Nationals. If she has a bad competition, and let's say Gabby or even Emily reigned supreme at Nationals, it may be tricky not to send one of them as National champion...

After all, things are just different when we have a contender. In this situation, whoever receives the spot would not be a best bet as well.
And Madeline still has one more GP assignment to compete in this season. let's see how she would improve herself.

Madeline not getting JGP assignments had nothing to do with Emily, who I don't think the federation has any particular fondness for; Emily has all the standard triples (and has for a while) and was one of the better competitive mindsets in her age group, so she got assignments. Madeline until very recently had a fairly limited jumping arsenal and a lot of people (myself included) were skeptical how much she'd be able to improve on that -- she proved everybody wrong, though unfortunately she started to do that right around the time when competitions mostly stopped happening.
