I love how Olivier and Isabel got the highest marks for choreography, interpretation and timing!!! I told you they had the best program in that regard!
)
I'm glad that you agree 1795! I was wondering though...Did Isabel make a mistake on her second set of twizzles? It seemed like she stumbled a tiny bit there...
Funny thing: Tatiana Tarasova was a commentator on Russian TV during the GP. After Tanith and Ben finished skating (they were the last to skate) she said "Belbin and Agosto skated the best tonight". She apparently thought they had skated the best, and that they had won the gold medal. Of course, when she found out the Russian team had won gold,she was delighted---but she had stated her opinion. It can't be denied that Tarasova is very, very knowledgeable when it comes to figure skating and she was a well-respected ice dance coach as well.
The GPF dance panel was very well-balanced, and the Russians won anyway (from my calculations it appears that random selection worked against B/A and for DomShabs), so as far as I am concerned, Worlds is already decided. With 3 SSRs on the Worlds CD/OD panels and at least 3 (and as many as 6) on the FD panel, Worlds should be a walk in the park for DomShabs.

And she herself said, that her father (very famous hockey player) instilled in her that winning is the only award. So coming in first is more important than the best that night. It's the long view of records that are important which even Yagudin said, I will be remembered for this win (over Abt) anyway.That is telling indeed since she is a Russian, and if even she said that, that is very telling.
In fairness Domnina/Shabalin's FD was their best rendition so far this season, better then COR even. However I thought their score their was too high. I just wish someone who was more knowledgable in ice dance would go on TV and break it down to explain why Domnina/Shabalin's FD was 3 points higher then Belbin/Agosto and Delobel/Schoenfeldner, if there was in fact any merit to that. Then I might feel better.
oh thank you so much for this! I noticed TT was commentating so wsa wondering what she thought of the teams. What did she think of the French team btw?
Do not listen to chuckem, TAT never said that B/A skated the best, NEVER. She said that she did not like the team at beginning but they improved A LOT in the last two seasons and they are underdogs at this competition and doing well so far. She loves the program this season too. BUT when they finished to skate she stated immediately that Dom/Shabs skated THE BEST tonight!!! She did not like Del/Shoes skate and she does not feel like the team improving as much as they should, especially Shoenfelder.
That's all.
So chuckm, were you just mistaken? Because given the fact that "It can't be denied that Tarasova is very, very knowledgeable when it comes to figure skating and she was a well-respected ice dance coach as well", it seems TAT saying DomShabs skated the best undermines arguments about a judging konspiracy.
I do not believe the judging was unfair, but I do think that if the random selection was different, the result would have been different as well. It is clear that not all the judges thought that DomShabs' FD was the best. In fact, 5 of the 9 judges thought a team other than DomShabs was best in the FD, and 4 of those 5 placed DomShabs 3rd or lower. 6 of the 9 judges placed B/A first or second in the FD, in both PCS and GOE.
DomShabs lucked out with the random selection at the GPF. But they were far from a unanimous choice.
