Ladies Free Skate

It IS enough. You have to be able to do all the jumps. Everyone falls but falling on a jump they know you can do compared to Never being able to do a jump? I think we have to thank Tara for that.

There is already a - Goe given to Mao's jump but its 3x worse if you fall!

Are you serious you can't blame Mao flutz for everything she got a - 1 for her lutz thats not enough to cover Yu-na's fall - 3! plus she did 2 3/3!

mao got these GOE:
3A (-.80)= 6.70
3F-3T (-.60) = 8.90
3Lz (-1.00)= 5.0
3Lo (.80)*= 6.30
3F-3Lo (+1.20)*= 12.75
2A-2Lo-2Lo (+.20)*= 7.35
2A (+.80)*= 4.65
total: 51.65

while yuna got :
3F-3T (+2.0)=11.50
3Lo (-3)=2.00
3lz-2T (+1.0)=8.30
2A-3t (+1.60)*=9.85
3lz (+1.20)*=7.80
3sal (+.40)*=5.35
2A (+1.40)*=5.25
total: 50.05

there you go. technically mao is not that superior to yuna.

I got TVants working just as Kimmie was starting, and missed Mao's apparently amazing LP. And first thing I saw was Kimmie falling, and falling, and underrotating, and looking glum. Yikes! Yukari was wonderful, save the ugly wrap. That 3A looked so easy and perfect! Carolina put out almost a perfect program (for her) for once! Easily her best LP skate ever, wow! What a treat for the home crowd. Then little Caroline, she actually smiled on her opening pose, I thought, wow, this is going to be great. She was really skating with speed and energy today (for her), and made herself look like she belonged out there with all the big girls! (She looked ludicrously tiny after Carolina the "giant" -- for a ladies skater, she's amazingly tall.) All her jumps looked strong, and then, the last lutz. *cry* So upsetting, she looked so good the rest of her program. And indeed, she would've beaten Carolina in the LP without the fall, and indeed won bronze over all. Finally, Yu-na, Yu-na. That fall on the 3R was so freaky, and she skated right through the rest of her program with such wonderful flow and musicality, and the big, big jumps! I still thought she would've won silver, though.

But apparently the protocols show that Mao's 3A and one of her 3/3's got low GOE's, so that would explain Yu-na's win.

A great competition from all, very exciting!:clap::clap: Well, except poor Kimmie. I also seriously wonder about how many spots the US will get to have in the LA worlds. Kimmie is a wreck! And she's been getting worse and worse this whole season, what does it mean for National's and World's? I'd love for Caroline to step up to the plate and skate away with the national title, but I think that means further diminished chance of keeping 3 spots at World's, and next year, it'll be a slaughterhouse with the talented youngsters coming of age, and only 2 spots to fight over!

say the nearly inevitable happens and the us is down to 2 spots for 09 Worlds. What do the 2 Americans have to place to get back 3 spots for the '10 Olympics?

It sounds like an amazing competition! Cannot wait to watch it. I'm so happy for Mao, Yu-Na and Carolina. To be honest, this is the podium I wanted, in this order. I so glad to see Mao back. And Carolina finally skating well at home.

Feraina, none of Mao's jumps were downgraded.

I still have hope for Kimmie. She's grown this season, but she's still a good skater and I think she can bounce back.

I gave Meissner the benefit of the doubt after SA, and even after TEB (bad showings happen even to the best at times) but now I'm really concerned for her. She's completely lost what used to be amazing consistency and solidness.

Kimmie, Wager and Hughes will probably be sent to the worlds. But none is reliable... Two of them have to place in top 10(i believe) to qualify for 3 spots. It's still possible.

Caroline Zhang's 3+3s now regularly get +GOE! She scored 10.5 for her 3f+3t.

What's even more amazing is that her 3F+3T is scored higher than Mao's! She got no negative GOEs for that combination and all her other jumps save the lutz, which is understandable since she flutzes. Apparently the mule kick doesn't bother the judges as much as it does the posters on this board. :p What CZ really needs to work on is her speed and power - she was very noticeably slower than all the other ladies. Seems like she lost a little steam towards the end of the performance, too.

Kimmie should transfer over to Frank Carroll. She has lost her jumps. She was beaten by Caroline here. She was almost beaten by Wagner in Paris. Although, Wagner did beat her in the LP. This doesn't look good at all. It could end up being Kimmie, Bebe and Alissa on a world team together. That could be downright diastrous. Maybe Wagner, Hughes, Kimmie if she can get herself together. Is there any other skater in the US elegible for worlds who can hit the jumps? I am really worried.

She's so consistent with them too!!!

same here, but even on her worst day I think Meissner is still better than the other two (unless they're at THEIR best, and that's doubtful). Someone said Wagner was old enough to go to worlds this year and will compete at Nats. Hopefully she can "save the day". Still, we might also have Hughes...or worse, Czisny.

I wonder what Mao is thinking right now?? Adding two extra triples (toe and axel ) and still only a point better

Ahh well, we have such strong ladies!!!

and of course, I can't leave this post without once again woo hooing Zhang!

Congrats to all the fighters!!! Yu-Na, I'm so proud of you!!! Mao, what a comeback you've made!! And Carolina, I'm giving you a big hand!

Wagner is reliable!! She landed usually at least 6 triples! I really like Ashley!
